Good hotel, great vibe and service
The Carpenter was a great stay. Very cool. Writing this mainly to shout out one front desk staff member in particular - Bianca! She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and settled. Thank you Bianca for your care.
Stayed here for a “staycation” weekend and had a nice time. The rooms are pretty standard and small but everything is redone / new (especially the bathrooms). The room also has a nice patio. Everything was very intentionally done and clear to use (I.e. the board outlining all the amenities). The overall grounds are really nice with a pool, coffee shop, and a place to eat. We loved the plant aesthetic...
Overall I had a nice stay. Property was beautiful and vibey, staff was friendly, great location walkable to the trail and Zilker park. Couple issues that seem fixable for the future: - Was disappointed by the lack of any substantial vegan-friendly food options on the premises. Only menu items at the restaurant were crudite and side potatoes (not a meal). Most places of this caliber/price-point at...
The hotel took care of us really well especially during the blizzard. The rooms had great insulation and were quiet. The rooms were spacious with concrete floors (so maybe ask for slippers?). The attached coffee shop is a great place to work or to get a cup, while the restaurant is a great place to unwind or to eat properly. The bed was reasonably comfortable as well. The closet situation is a little...
I want to take a moment to recognize Sailor at The Carpenter Hotel. I had a situation during my stay, and she took incredibly good care of me. Not only did she fix the issue, she truly went above and beyond. What stood out the most was how she listened. She made me feel genuinely heard and seen, and instead of just offering an apology, she provided a real solution with kindness and care. That level...

Nice friend professional staff prefect location downtown
Staff was great but the facility is run down and old. My “king suite” had the original carpet, ancient appliances and furniture. It’s run down and needs to be gutted. I had to keep unplugging the TV as it wouldn’t work with the remote after about an hour of use. The “breakfast” is not worth it and my “suite” just had countless things broken like one of the giant mirrors had a huge crack. Please pay...
Good staff and location. Clean and upheld.
A cheap priced hotel the only saving grace is the location as the hotel itself is in poor condition, dirty walls, leftover items in the room and unusable facilities like the pool!

Second stay for transit with family. There is full group business options here, so I will share those photos! Great staff and great lobby amenities! Shuttle a life-saver.
Loved the simplicity of this hotel. Perfect for an overnight stay and so easy to catch the shuttle to the airport.  The front check in person was professional. I got there 30 minutes before check in and they just checked me in. My room was super clean, and the temperature was perfect.  The bed was so comfortable and the bedding felt luxurious.  I loved how the desk was on wheels and could be moved...
You can choose it next time, very hygienic and convenient
Good location, the room is very clean and the service is also very good
The room is very clean, the hotel front desk is very welcoming, the hotel is very quiet, the buffet breakfast is not very rich, but it is much better than the a la carte hotel, good reviews, recommended
It's OK. The front desk staff is quite enthusiastic.

Decent hotel worth staying and it’s very cheap to stay one night
My account showed my room was already checked in even though I had just showed up? It felt questionable. I love the room though and plan to return.
No frills room, but it was clean and tidy and the staff was pleasant. Good place for the money.
Overall upkeep of the property was poor. There were holes in the walls of the room that had been poorly patched up. When I showered, the roof of the shower started leaking. I found a blood stain on the comforter… I’d avoid this property if possible
I love this hotel and it’s the only place we stay in when visiting Austin . It’s budget friendly , very clean and the staff is amazing night and day .
We got a nonsmoking room and the floor I was on still smelled like smoke. The room was clean and basic amenities. I did not have much interaction with staff besides asking for more towels. Great price for the weekend stay.

Awesome stay, amenities and staff. Will definitely return.
The hotel was lovely. The room and public areas were very clean and inviting. However there is a loud noise from outside that makes sleeping difficult. It sounds like construction, although we saw no construction in the area. It's like if there were a giant metal tube and someone is throwing stuff down it every 45 minutes or so.
This is our “go to” motel in the Austin area! Secure location, clean motel, helpful employees and comfortable rooms! We’ll be back!
We enjoyed staying here for the night. There are only 2 things I would change: The pillows were too flat, and I wish there was more variety for breakfast (more fruit, jams, and biscuits)
decent hotel, although the breakfast was lacking, there was some sort of stench on the 4th floor hallway, and the walls are super thin. good for the price i would say.
Overall good experience. Key didn’t work for fitness center had to get staff at each visit.

Both elevators broke down while I was there. The food was limited. It took like going through 4 rooms to find one that was good. 3 of them either had a TV that did not work, or the fridge did not work. The luggage cart was all bent up and barely rolled. Breakfast food was limited.
AC was cold but they ran out of waffle batter the second day I was there
I stay here occasionally with friends and never had a problem with it until this time . I came by after work to collect my deposit and they said they kept it for "smoking in room". My friend can be seen multiple times on camera going outside to smoke and knows better than that, as for myself I don't smoke. So I basically got jacked by these guys for my deposit.
We were in Austin for Formula One. The hotel was perfect for us. Nice breakfast clean and comfortable room.
Cant remember the food place? Was kind of sketchy? Too many people there looked like they was doing bad stuff. Couple of arguments that was there took a picture of the big hole that was in the bathroom wall. The best thing I like. Was the shower. Bed was kind of comfortable. Deleted picture already
The elevators were very slow and took minutes to get to my floor. Our door looks like it was broken into in the past. It had chipped wood and it was a little deformed. The shower made a screeching noise constantly.

Our favorite staycation and our go-to to getaway close to home!
What an awesome little hotel! Very cool decor, nice room, amazing staff!!! It felt very unique and provided that experience I was hoping for.
We had a lovely stay and were truly impressed by the beautiful grounds, lush landscaping, and peaceful atmosphere. We’re big fans of design-forward boutique hotels like Chateau Marmont and The Bowery, so we were excited for a similarly curated experience here — and the aesthetic and ambiance absolutely delivered. Charming touches like the in-room record player and thoughtful interiors made the property...
great staff.....great room, well stocked except for the vodka...someone refilled with water so when I went for a drink. Nice area.
One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at. Loved everything. Only complaint is that the pool was too cold. It didn’t stop me from swimming but it would have been much more enjoyable if warm. Other than that, the hotel was amazing and we will definitely be back!

Great location, friendly staff and the dining options are lovely.
Daily turndown very nice! Full size bathtub a bonus. Great coffee in lobby
A lovely place to stay the night. Clean, neat, friendly staff and near Jo's Coffee and many more restaurants and stores right on South Congress.
Hotel is staff is nice, rooms are clean, and its in a great location. Request a room that’s not on the street otherwise you’ll hear the road. My only suggestion is that they get blackout curtains in the room.
Staff is so accommodating and nice. We loved our stay. Room was perfect and we felt right in the middle of the action.
Beautiful space! The room and property. The front room to the road is very loud. I tried to shower twice during our stay and there was no hot water. Like not even 2 minutes worth. That was disappointing. The location is great

Everything was wonderful and everyone was very kind and helpful
Great location nice room ,loves the bed linens smelled so fresh. Only downside was like any big intercity hotel parking was expensive it was 33 precent of the total room cost, that seems excessive.
The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very nice. Carpets are quite dirty in the hallways. Reception wasn’t rude but also wasn’t super welcoming either.
Such a cute hotel! A little challenging getting ready in the morning as the vanity is just a sink without much space. Had a great breakfast there at the restaurant. Beds were comfortable and pretty quiet. Very charming!
Everyone was courteous but also not well trained. For a very seasoned traveler used to luxe accommodations and first class service- this isn’t the hotel to stay at, rather it’s a place to visit for the porch, common areas, bar and restaurant.
Room and staff were good. Parking was efficient but too expensive and separate billing meant more paperwork. Hotel was helpful when needed.

The rooms are huge, the beds are comfy, and we slept like royalty on a budget. Would definitely stay again for the price point alone. Check-in was a little chaotic after a long day of travel and arriving around 2 a.m. — we were first given a room that wasn’t ready (surprise!), but the front desk quickly fixed it and even offered to move us back to our originally booked king instead of the two doubles...
The AC wasn’t working and I had to move 2 carts full of my stuff to another floor/room. The next room had no hot water.
The carpet had cigarette burns, elevator was down and the other elevator was dirty. The exteriors had trash and the lobby wasn’t welcoming. The staff was ok, just not as engaging as expected. The rooms were nice except they didn’t change out the sheets nor give us towels or toilet paper.
Parking was convenient, the hotel was good. The staff was really friendly. The only thing I could say is that the room had a weird smell, and the TV didn't really work. Most of the channels were not good, the signal was just bad.
the location is good and the room is big! However, the WIFI didn't work and I need to call to resolve it.
Amazing staff. The rooms were wonderful. Although they could use a microwave hence the lack of a star. Other than that I would highly recommend this location. Thank you for the stay!

Parking was easy but around area. Watch out. The Owners and staff can only do so much. They really put forth a effort. Stay inside till morning.
It was ok . Musty smell after I cleaned it. Towels had dark spots on them .Got some more.50.00 Deposits charged after I paid the bill.
Staff are people for the people! I ran into bank issues an they made me feel like there wasn't anything to worry about an I appreciate how well they handled the issue.
I thought continental breakfast was included. Clerk hands me package of muffins. that was it. would have liked some outdoor seating as well as in "dining" area
I had read some reviews that were not too favorable so what I was expecting IS NOT what I got! I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and the quiet atmosphere. The room needs a new TV but I was able to watch my shows and that's what counts! Overall, if you want to save money but don't want the riff raff this is the place!

My wife and I have been going to this hotel since its inception. The staff is warm and helpful. The accommodations are great and we love the location.
Great location, helpful staff, quiet property, and great restaurant onsite. We would stay here again. Bonus to have a parking garage on the property.
I came to Austin for a one night trip to spread my father‘s ashes on his college campus that he loved so dearly. The hotel staff did not know this, but upgraded me upon my arrival to the Milton suite which was the most magnificent hotel room I’ve ever stayed in! It made my state that much more memorable and special.
Room was spacious and stylish. Great view of pool from large terrace. City street noise was not an issue from our position. Very friendly staff. Restaurant cafe was delicious. They do have self parking in the garage below but thought $45 dollars was a bit on the pricy side. There is paid street parking available that you can pay from your phone. The area is safe with lots of restaurants, shops, bars...
loved location and room. can't beat it, the only thing would be to improve, water temp in shower was chilly esp with open door. thank you for having a cool bar to relax at and good coffee in the am. can't wait to visit again.
The entire experience was great! The staff are friendly and welcoming. The bar was comfortable, trendy, and had great specialty cocktails. The design and style of the lobby and rooms is warm and comfortable. We had a great stay!

Hotel was great value, good simple breakfast. The gym was average and machines not working …. The rest was good, great for a quick stay
excellent service and attitude for all people there, specially Ana the manager.
Stay was wonderful. Rooms were very clean. No strange smells. Staff was very polite and welcoming. The only negative I would say (personally because people were throwing down) was that the breakfast was not good at all.
Room was clean, breakfast was a little sparce, but this hotel is a very good deal for the price!
Great staff on an older property. Great for the price though and the waffle was delicious.
Room was ok. Twin bed rooms have full size beds, not queen. Bedding was clean, carpet looked recent although there was a lot of white hair on it. Bathroom was clean and towels were clean. We found some blood stains on the headboard and spme pf the bed switches.

Definitely a different hotel from standard downtown. Fits Austin well! Oriented to outside living (bar, pool, restaurant, etc.) so not so great in January when we visited, but likely good other times of the year. Right in the middle of restaurant and other activities which have now spread to the east of IH35. (They were only to the west of IH35 when we knew Austin back when!)
Great and accommodating staff. Cute ambiance and very photogenic atmosphere. Pool was too cold and needed cleaning. Did not see any maintenance done with it during our entire stay. Sun only reaches a small portion of the pool area for less than 3 hours in the afternoon. Not sure if there was clear communication between the restaurant and the hotel but we were unaware of the transition from the old...
This hotel is a well-kept secret, a true delight and well-priced. The staff was helpful and friendly and the room was decorated very much like in Dwell Magazine. We absolutely love this budget friendly option for our travels! The room was so cute, bed so comfortable! The rooms are quite old and not cleaned daily. They are also quite small. There is no complimentary breakfast. The gym is inadequate. The Starbucks barista is excellent, and breakfast is available for purchase and is delicious.
This hotel honestly made my weekend for my SIL's wedding very convenient and the staff are super accommodating! I rarely take the time to write a second review on the same business trip, but I would be remiss if I did not give this hotel another shoutout for excellent service. After check out, my flight was cancelled due to inclement weather, and I did not want to sleep on the terminal floor at ATX. I returned to Courtyard to work on a new travel itinerary unannounced and without a reservation, and was welcomed...
Hotel is fine. Water was shut off with no heads up besides a flier near the elevator, not even notified by the staff when checking in right as the water was to be shut off. The shower did not work for a full 2 days during my stay, and when I asked when the water would be fully on line (we all need to shower!) the staff seemed bothered that I would even inquire about the water. Room was only partially...
During my recent stay, my room unfortunately had several issues that affected the experience. The TV signal kept cutting in and out, the shower doors didn’t close fully which caused water leakage, and there was a noticeable unpleasant smell in the room. The walls also seemed very thin, so I could hear a lot of noise from the guest next door. I chose Marriott for comfort and consistency, so I was disappointed...

Staff excellent, property good. Breakfast ended too early. Convenient location. Coffee not so good. Clean and quiet and a great value.
It is at good location. The room was comfortable. It water fixtures were old and not work well.
The room is straight out of the 1970’s. Why is there a phone on the wall in the bathroom? Ancient coffee pot in the bathroom that barely works. Thermostat is very old and hard to work. Staff was friendly and accommodating.
The advertised breakfast was non-existent. This was the second time I stayed there for three days in the last month, and it was the same each time. I wish they wouldn't advertise a breakfast and instead lowered the room rate a few dollars. Otherwise, it's a nice place for the money.
They charged me additional charges even though I paid before staying at the room.
You Get What You Paid For! This hotel was convenient to hyway, a good price, and the desk clerk was very pleasant. The room it self was clean. The barhroom had damage to a wall. I really enjoyed my stay at the Inn. The staff members were courteous and patiently answered all my questions. The room was really clean and organized, and I was able to relax from my trip. The breakfast can use some improvement. But I wasn't too bothered since there were eateries and a mart 14 mins walking distance from the Inn.

We enjoyed our stay, but I was mislead into thinking that a balcony faced outdoors however it faced the interior hotel. The room was clean, bathroom was sufficient. The bed was comfortable and they seemed clean. The only issue we had was the air conditioner did not get cold enough and we woke up a little sweaty off and on throughout the night. The breakfast and other amenities seemed wonderful!
Bed makes too much noise when you get on it and off! Makes a popping sound! And microwave was in a bad spot. Refrigerator could be updated! Other than that, everything was fine. Staff was very friendly.
We liked the room very much because it was very comfortable and spacious. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast and the snacks, they hit the spot. We will definitely stay again if we have the chance and recommend it to friends and family.
We loved the breakfast. We were disappointed that there were no pool towels at the pool and the jets in the hot tub were not working. We really liked this hotel and would stay there again, hopefully the hot tub will be fixed.
Staff was outstanding. Breakfast was amazing as was happy hour. Room was clean and comfortable and spacious. This is our favorite hotel in Austin. Was a little shocked to have to pay $17 per night parking fee. Never had that before and don’t remember seeing when booking but maybe I just overlooked.
