Stayed here for the Houston Marathon weekend. The rooms and everything were maintained really well. For being all booked for a busy weekend they managed it all well.
One note, they need slightly better customer service with check in and check out.
Offered to help with my bags after I already walked in and before I checked in- this could be offered at or after check in.
At check out, it was confusing if I was good to go or if I they needed anything else. A simple, “thanks for staying, have a nice day” would’ve been clear that I was good to go.

Excellent hotel in downtown Houston. High level of service. Relatively large rooms and comfortable beds. Excellent restaurant in the hotel morning and evening. Espresso machine in the room.

I stayed here on June 1, 2016, and I still remember how great I had a great time. The service was absolutely fantastic. They didn't have the drink I wanted, so I just went up to my room and relaxed. They came later with a bucket of ice and my desired drink. They actually sent someone to get it. The room was great too. I can't say enough good things.

Here for work, my stay was pleasant. Everyone from top to bottom was curtios and friendly. The room was serviced daily, the best comfortable and those pillows were out of the world. The restaurant was inviting and cosy and the food was delicious, with a wait staff eager to please. The downtown rail system was my only contention, making the parking experience a little inconvenient.

I always have good experiences at this hotel but I wanted to highlight the level of service on my check in on 1/26. I had a long travel day and was getting into the hotel after midnight and was thinking how awful the day had been. I get up to my room to find an amazing assortment of desserts as well as a birthday card from the staff. This level of going above and beyond really made my day and all of a sudden the travel wasn’t so bad. Thank you!

My wife and I have stayed at this property three times over the past year. We chose this hotel initially due to its easy walking distance to MD Anderson but have chosen it since due to the hotel's outstanding service and relaxing atmosphere.

Always an issue with hotels in central business districts, there is parking, at a reasonable rate, in a garage in a building that is attached to the hotel building. Due to the hotel's superior location, on a light rail line, we've never driven the car during our stays. When the weather is bad, the hotel offers a shuttle that departs frequently and runs a route thru nearby medical facilities.

There are plenty of dining options within the hotel, which is good because the options nearby aren't plentiful. On the other hand, the hotel is a 1 mile walk (or train ride) to the museum of science, which has outstanding exhibitions on Egypt and King Tut, including (at present) the Terracotta Warriors, all brilliantly displayed!

Stayed two nights for work in the building next door. Overall my stay was fine. I liked the room very much, and the front desk service was good. My only complaint was with the breakfast service in the Griffin Lounge; it seemed to be short-staffed as it was pretty chaotic with all the guests jostling each other for breakfast, drinks, etcetera and the poor woman who was making the omelettes had to do double duty fixing the coffee machine, cleanup the mess at the coffee bar and bus the tables.

That said, I'll be back, as the hotel is very nice and I liked the staff and proximity to my office in Houston.

Fabulous stay! I mentioned we were celebrating a birthday and we were greeted with a special card and dessert in our room when we first walked in. Great service and delicious restaurant in house as well.

Nice but out dated for the price also no valet in front of the building you have to carry your suitcase across a busy street

Have had lunch here many times. Good food, good prices, excellent salad bar

Great lunch here. Managers special is just enough. Sandwich and soup. They can make what ever you want, even if it's just a bacon sandwich on dry toast.

BIG, SPACIOUS AND CUSTOMER FRIENDLY

Being a resident of Downtown I appreciate the amount of lunch spots available, but I come here the most. I pop in and out for their Gumbo and Pineapple Chicken Salad (it does contain nuts) The cashier Brittany was personable and a joy to work with. The manager Dawn is always a delight and has been there 6 years. Great to eat at a place where customer service is still warranted. I will come here any day before I go to Corner Bakery, which is across the street. The food is so good and the Black Currant Tea is the best and free Ice Cream..I'm sold..?

Has a great atmosphere, and prices are not to high. It was about 12 or 13 dollars for the country fried ribeye steak meal. Looks like they do live music at times. Staff was friendly and efficient. Was fun for an office group lunch.

Disappointed. After specifically asking in advance AND the day of about valet parking, no valet service was available. My guests arrived at the door for valet and were turned away to find their own parking. I inquired as to why there was no valet and the hostess stated "we have a valet" - I asked her to look into the issue. She never followed up, I still have no idea why all of my guests were turned away. This was a Christmas party with set menu - Apps were good, Salads were fine, nothing special. Entrees - I am told the steaks were good, however the lobster was tough/chewy, and the salmon overcooked. Dessert trio came - cheesecake was ok, however it wasn't any better than those out of the frozen section of the grocery. "Bread Pudding" couldn't be managed with a spoon or fork. Some used a steak knife to attempt it. Not certain why this is a revered dessert; you could possible chip a tooth on it. My drinks were good - plenty of tequila - but really weren't anything special. I also promised my guests live entertainment after consulting the entertainment schedule on the Sambuca website. I never heard anyone go on stage. This was once a well-loved Houston venue. It has definitely taken a negative turn. Sad.

If I could give this place 0 stars or less I would. We actually had the distinct pleasure of going to both Sambuca and their bar upstairs, Lawless. I'm not going to review Lawless as well, but just to get the picture, imagine a cheap strip club with over eager escorts serving up basic drinks.

Waited a bit for a table - okay. Seated in the back when the band starts. I have heard some bad dinner music, but this takes the cake. It was okay when they were instrumental, but the vocals took it to comic territory. Server finally shows up and takes drink orders. Little did I know, the syrupy well drink on their specialty cocktail menu would serve as both libation and the caloric content for the evening. We ordered "apps" which arrived a prompt 30 minutes later. After putting them on the table, he was starting to walk away when we asked to place an order for dinner (7pm. You know, dinner time?). Out of the lasagna. Fantastic. No wait, he will go check. Now they aren't out of lasagna? Which one is it? I order it but the look I am given instills no confidence that it is what I will receive. Drinks on the table are empty and he disappears before we can get that in as well. Stuffed artichoke was a from a can with some kind of mayonnaise... goop? Oh, and a decorative bit of salad garnish. Inedible.

Now the waiting game...

At some point the restroom was in order. I have been to many developing countries and not experienced such a smell. Apparently their primary restrooms were out of order, leaving one single occupant for the large restaurant. If this wasn't a business dinner I would have walked out then and there. This is a serious health code violation.

At last, about 2 hours into our sit on the tacky red velvet lap-dance booths, food arrives. They did have lasagna after all! For some reason there was a dousing of balsamic vinegar on it, which was entirely overpowering. I could not cut through the under-cooked and over heat-lamp pasta and the middle was overloaded with a bland ricotta. Greasy, tough, again, inedible. The polenta was reported to have had no sauce, no flavor.

Some time later, I was able to wave the server down one last time for a check... which... was... overcharged by $14.00.

Just wow. I mean, it was the kind of thing where you would go between laughing and dead serious hanger. Shut. this. place. down.

3 is the best I can offer. We ate there 12/3 with plans to go to the theater. We booked 2.5 hours in advance of the show so we might enjoy a nice leisurely dinner. With a fast trot, we barely made it to the show.
Waiter was nice, but stressed! He forgot drink orders, forgot salads, we were told our food was ready -- 20+ minutes later it arrived. Now, the food was good. The place was at about 30% capacity when we arrived and about 50% when we left. I watched staff scurry about, but a lot of patrons were looking anxiously at the kitchen. When we left, I asked the waiter whose order was in the kitchen window - I had been watching it sit there for over 40 minutes. His reply: I don't know. Management sucks.
Hmm... Maybe my $$ will go elsewhere in the future. Sambuca : nice name, nice location, pretty good food -- rotten service.

Great place! Recently, I had them cater my wedding reception, and they did an amazing job, we couldn't have found better professionals. Erika (who manages the catering) was simply the best. We didn't have to worry about anything. Everything went smooth, she did so much more than just taking care of the food, she has been a real wedding planner. the food was great, service perfect, timing perfect.
If I had to organize another event, I would not hesitate to choose them again.
we got so much for our money!

My favorite dish would definitely be their Chicken Tequila pasta. Love the atmosphere and customer service provided everytime I visit this place!Food is affordable for the quality of taste, I love it

Their chicken tequila pasta is divine! I tried to make it myself but I keep falling short.

It's healthy for the tunnels, but expensive. Food is decent but nothing to write home about

Don't get here to early. I stood by the register for a good 10 min waiting for someone to take my money. I finally got mad and just left my food on the counter
18.11.2013 john
I use to love this place until recently after their renovation. One of my favorites is the chicken tequila pasta and I used to get it on the regular. I just came back from Alonti's with it and let me tell you, I can't even find more than two tiny pieces of chicken in this sauce drenched pasta. The rest of the chicken is in tiny grain size which you can't even make out. The pasta is cold and the sauce tastes rather chalky and bitter. I don't know what happened but this is probably going to be my last visit.
