Houston Grand Hotel - River Oaks in Houston

This was my 2nd time to be in residence at the St. Regis Houston. The first time was in 2011 with some friends as we were out for a baseball game. This time I had to do some business in Austin and attend a wedding in Houston. Just so happened to be Independence Day as well. So, we enjoyed the festivities downtown on the 4th. Our arrival and check in was pleasant with nice valets, bellmen, and front desk staff. They have remodeled a bit since my last stay. The room was quite large with an entryway, seating area, and huge tv. A welcome gift of cookies in a chocolate basket was very kind. I love these little extras. The bed was so comfy and nicely appointed larger bathroom. Would like a stand alone shower next time. The pool is very nice with a decent fitness center. I really like the sauna. The Remington bar was nice. I'd like to try afternoon tea sometime. The location is great as it is near the Galleria but a bit secluded with beautiful trees. We booked our newlywed friends with a room for their honeymoon night (we went to the Westin that night). My only frustrations are the crazy amount they charge as a deposit for incidentals and that they were unable to find the hanging clothes my friend had left in the closet when we checked out but came back about an hour later. Oh well. I hope to visit again next time I'm in Houston.

We stay here every year for our anniversary. Every year it gets better and better! OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE. I am so impressed with all of the staff and how they strive to make everything so perfect. The beautiful chocolate covered strawberries and the romantic music when we walked in was just superb. I called for a fan and within 5 minutes I had one. Everyone that works there pays such special attention to detail and thats the things that matter. Like calling you by name. The fresh flowers, the cleanliness, the comfort, the atmosphere, the STAFF!!!! My husband and I travel all over the world and stay in a lot of places and this is one of our favorites. Keep up the excellent work, it does not go unnoticed!

With a generous Starwood early check in and late checkout, they made the Saturday night stay over feel like a full spoiled weekend. They sent up chocolate covered strawberries with "Happy Birthday" written in chocolate on the plate, what a great touch! Comfy luxurious rooms, turn down service, Beautiful interesting art hangs everywhere and in the guest room, fine decor and feel throughout. Wonderful quiet poolside relaxation, and a beautiful spacious St Regis Mercedes took us to and from a nearby music date, so classy. Breakfast delicious served in an airy semi-sunroom .One knock is the Remington "Restaurant" - the only in-hotel lunch venue, feels like a dated bar with cheap pale wood furnishings, doesn't match anything else in the hotel and badly needs a remodel. Still, plenty other lunch spots around and not enough to take away from an excellent time provided by a very gracious staff!

I flew to Houston for a 2 day business conference at the St. Regis. During the flight, another passenger vomited on me. It was awful. I will spare you the minor details but tell you I had it on my shirt and pants. When I told the check-in staff about it, they were so sympathetic that they offered to launder my clothes for free AND sent me a bottle of wine to my room. It really brightened up an otherwise bad day. Besides the excellent service, my room was HUGE! The bed was super comfy as well as having a large bathroom with nice towels. I will absolutely stay there again.

This elegant and stylish hotel has everything you need when you visit the Houston Galleria area. Car service is available to and from the airport that might be cheaper than paying the daily valet/parking fee. Turn down and spa services make this ideal for a relaxing business trip, romantic getaway or special occasion. There is a stocked refrigerator and snacks in the room along with a bath robe and slippers. A complimentary golf umbrella is available for rainy days but don't first to return it to the room. A business center is available near the front desk for internet access and printing. I didn't try the restaurant because I got hooked on the one behind the hotel called Liberty Kitchen. This is a top notch hotel in the Starwood/Westin/Sheraton lineup.

I was in town on business and stayed one night at the Regis. The front desk staff was awesome, I was a weary traveler. Room service sent up a perfectly gorgeous amenity plate with champagne, fruit, and a chocolate designed state of Texas. Yummy! The bed was super comfortable and it was very quiet, wonderful night. Also, the location is perfect for tourists that want to walk around a great area.

Great service and beautiful hotel; however, it is definitely past its prime. The hotel is in need of updating and a renovation.

What stands out at the St. Regis is the people. I want to mention some key food and beverage employees that made a positive impression for going to the extra mile: Ignacio at the early morning breakfast hour, Rosetta who promptly deliverers ice to your room with smile and sweet demeanor and Felipe. All were kind, professional and very personal. My family were impressed as well. Thank you, Jeremiah Cribley, and your staff for making a great impression. Don’t ever stop the coffee service in the lobby in the mornings. It is the best thing you can do for tired travelers!!! All the food was amazing.

I'm so indebted to this hotel!! We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed the location very much. I left my jewelry box in the safety deposit by accident. When I realized and called, The gentleman who answered was so helpful, told me they had been waiting for my call and sent it back to me as soon I described the details to him. Not a thing missing!!
