Reviews
But then came the bugs…
Once I saw them crawling around the room, that was it for me. Absolutely disgusting. I saw at least 7 roaches in this location.
The place also smelled deeply of water and mold, had to get an air freshener just to stand it. The place just felt dirty and poorly maintained, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Check out the pictures and decide for yourself if you want to risk your health.
(Cannot directly reply to owners response. But this review was indeed in good faith. I have no doubt in my mind that the rest of the rooms are of similar condition, quality, etc. I can deal with some grime and we dealt with it for a while. But the bugs didn’t reveal themselves until after a few days. In which I asked for my money back. In which I was refused at first. I had to directly go through Expedia support to even get any form of refund. The hotel basically told me I was out of luck and were going to force me to pay for the rest of my stay initially. This place is gross if you have any value for health I wouldn’t recommend. This is an accurate reflection of the situation. I would have no reason to complain and to want the downfall for a local business. But want to accurately describe what I dealt with for others.)
They charged extra 10$ for parking without having any point.
Really disappointed. Highly suggest to avoid.
I knew this was a budget hotel and didn't expect anything fancy, but this hotel was worse than I expected.
- 2 of the 4 lights in the room didn't work. One was fixed with a replacement bulb, but the other didn't work even with a new bulb.
- One night, when I returned to my room, I found the door open.
- The boy that works at the front desk was somewhat rude to me and wouldn't look at me when I spoke to him.
On a more positive note, the refrigerator was pretty clean, as were the sheets and the bathroom.
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO MY WORST ENEMY!
Cafe and Restaurants near hotel
Most reviews on this place are positive due to the atmosphere. Clean, friendly, and Spanish with art by Cruz Ortiz. However all this didn't make up for the boring tasting "Mexican" food. Portions can vary per plate (Chile relleno was huge, while Mirador special was terrible.) The Chile relleno with cheese taste more like an Italian plate, the enchiladas aren't spicy at all nor is there salsa. The rice was basic, the beans were spread as if not to waste, and the drinks were pretty small as well.
So sure you can sit outside, and yeah there's cool art.
I highly recommend it if you want to try something different or if your tired of San Antonio's ubiquitous Mexican fare.
Also the Salsa band at night are awesome!
