Ko'k Saroy Plaza Hotel in Samarkand

Nice big rooms and very good breakfast, location is convenient - around 10mins walk to Registan and Gur Emir. But the rest was not meeting expectations given the high price.
The spa has good facilities but is not operated properly - I had reserved in advance but when I was let in the sauna and hammam was only just turned on so nowhere near proper temperature even by the time my hour ended. Also there was no towel in there (was told there would be). The jacuzzi was connected to the pool so the entire area was cold water, with the pool water level too high - I think they were supposed to be filled separately and not kept at fully filled level.
There were some drain flies in my bathroom so cleanliness also needs to be addressed.

We had to extend our stay and decided to stay at the same hotel for practical reasons. The room is clean and convenient, they provide water bottles and Ahmed tea which is the best.
The only thing missing is a bidet in the bathroom. Breakfast was ok. The location is central, a few minute walk from everything you need to see in Samarkand. And a 15-minute drive from the train station. The man working at the reception on the last night was not as pleasant as the first two as he stopped us on our way to the room for the taxes we had to pay because we extended our stay. He could’ve done it differently and asked us while we checked out or simply told us to come pay when we have a chance to do so, which is usually what is done in other hotels. But instead I had to go back and forth several times to try and pay him by cardbecause he could not figure out how to make the card terminal work. I was so tired and just wanted to use the bathroom and go to sleep and he would ask me to wait an hour for his manager to come, and then lecture me about how things are done in hotels worldwide, as if I did not know, having stayed in hundreds of hotels myself… anyway, I figured he was just new and a bit awkward but there was no need for the condescending tone or to imply that we were going to leave without paying the taxes…

The hotel is in a good location, close to the Registan, about 15 minutes away.
The breakfasts are good.
There's a spa, one hour a day, free.
Overall, you can book it with confidence.

Farrukh is the perfect host, always positive and happy to help and offer advice. A nice bonus – the spa is included! We highly recommend it and will definitely be back!

Nice place, close to Registan square. Nice room and nice service

Great location only minutes away from the amazing registan square. Breakfast selection is wide and recommended and a large variety of cold and hot options. Fairly priced.

Overall the room is small, walls are thin, hence easy to hear sound of the hall way. Further, upon check in, the hot water kettle is used with water and black liquid inside without cleaned - mentioned to the cleaning staff, remained uncleaned for the next three days. The pool and sauna required booking ahead of time which made it hard to utilize.

It was the off-season so the hotel was empty, but there was always someone at the front desk who spoke English and was happy to provide helpful explanations and directions about the hotel facilities, breakfast, sightseeing, and currency exchange.

There is an indoor pool and sauna, which can be reserved for private use by the hour. These were very nice facilities.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a local feel with a different atmosphere from Western hotels, and who prefers a place with reasonably good facilities.

Although it is a little far from Bibi-Khanym Mosque, it is easy to get to Registan Square, about a five-minute walk away, so the location was fine.

I have to say we will give the reception guy 6 stars up to five. We have to catch up the train in the early morning around 1am, so that we need to stay in the lounge for around 4hours.The reception guy, with my great respect and grateful, stay up the whole night with us, no rest and give water and turn on for us. In the end, support us for communicating with the driver and carry the luggages for us, with no tips(sorry we dont have change cash at that moments)
