Hawaii Resort Phu Quoc in Phu Quoc Island

The hotel is definitely run-down and doesn't live up to a 4-star rating; it barely even reaches some 3-star standards. Breakfasts are varied, but they don't always restock items, so it's best to go around 8 AM. I specifically chose a garden-view bungalow (to get some peace and quiet), but I ended up in room 620, which had a sea view. There's no point in paying extra for a sea-view bungalow, as the view isn't great – you can see all the sunbeds and hear all the conversations. I spoke with many tourists staying in the main building, and everyone complained about poor soundproofing and almost constant bus noise. My bungalow room was spacious, but there was a sewage smell that I asked to have fixed for two days. The sea in this part of the beach is definitely not for swimming; it smells of sewage and fish. I spent 43 days on the island, so I have a lot to compare it to.

Only positive emotions! The location is great, just a few steps from the sea. They have a big pool and delicious breakfasts. The grounds are clean, quiet, and peaceful. 👍

The bungalow doors need replacing, and the bathtubs and toilets should be updated. They should also add loofahs and slippers to the rooms. Tourist buses parked near the reception spew fumes onto guests by the pool; they should be moved as there's plenty of parking elsewhere. The breakfasts were ample and tasty, and our clothes were laundered well. The sea was murky green; swimming there has gotten worse over the past 10 years. We liked the pool, though.

The room was small, located on the second floor. It had 4 bath towels, 2 beach towels, 2 bathrobes, toiletries, tea, coffee, and a kettle. Housekeeping (Vietnamese style) was done daily, and towels were changed every day. The bed linen wasn't changed during our 5-night stay. Water, coffee, tea, and sugar were replenished daily. The bed linen was clean and of good quality. There was a small balcony instead of a window. Overall, everything was very good! However, the noise from the corridor was absolutely unbearable. It's a long corridor, and all sounds echoed, plus the entrance door had glass and no sound insulation whatsoever. It was especially loud when Chinese grandmas would talk loudly at 6 AM on their way to and from the elevator, as if they were standing right by your bed and yelling. I had to go out and ask them to be quieter. The hotel has its own private beach, but there weren't enough sun loungers. The sea was dirty; I didn't swim. There's a nice bar on the beach, perfect for watching the sunset. Live performers entertained every day. There's also a pool, but a lot of small, black debris was floating on top. We came from the north of the island, where the sea is clean, hotels are right by the ocean, and there are plenty of entertainment and dining options. I would recommend staying there and only coming to the center for sightseeing. Overall, it's a very good hotel.

Excellent hotel right in the city center. Everything is within walking distance: shops, cafes, massage parlors, and scooter rentals. We booked a bungalow for 7 nights; the sea is nearby, and there's a large pool with varying depths, always with available sun loungers. The breakfasts were diverse. My only disappointment was that they promised a complimentary cake for my husband's and my birthdays but didn't provide it.

We stayed at the hotel for 13 nights, experiencing all the ins and outs from the inside. We were in a separate bungalow. The price per night was 4300 rubles at the time. We stayed in March 2026. The location is excellent in terms of the area itself, with cafes, shops, and massage parlors nearby.

However, that's where the positives end.

1. The sea was dirty, and there was plankton that stung. I only swam once in 14 days.
2. The pool is large, but it was impossible to use it upon arrival. It felt like it was never cleaned: the bottom was dirty, and debris wasn't removed from the surface. I messaged the hotel via Trip.com, and they responded quickly. They cleaned the pool, and it became usable.
3. The hotel is very popular with Vietnamese tourists. Buses full of Vietnamese tourists arrive every day. I have nothing against the nationality, but after they've had breakfast, even if you have a good appetite, it just vanishes. My recommendation for the hotel management is to organize separate breakfast times for guests of European descent.
4. Using the bathtub was another story. The tub was clogged, and the water just stood there. I reported it via Trip.com and in person at the reception. They responded by coming to look at it. They said they would come back tomorrow but never did. As a result, I couldn't properly shower after being at the beach or in the heat.
5. There were geckos, but that's not a big deal. However, a large cockroach in the room bothered me, as did a small rat on the palm tree outside the room.
6. The breakfasts are acceptable, but only if Asians haven't already had breakfast before you, and you don't see piles of rubbish under the tables.

Honestly, I want to write a good review, especially after a two-week holiday... Perhaps the only real positive is the clean and spacious grounds.

Several times, for us to be able to use the pool, my husband took a net and cleaned it himself. I hope the service improves.

Returned to the hotel for the second time. There are more buildings now, and they've been tidied up externally. The grounds are gradually being improved. There are a lot more guests now, and while there are more sun loungers, there still aren't enough for everyone, and not enough umbrellas either. They've replaced the pillows in the rooms and added duvet covers, which was a pleasant surprise. There's a good variety to choose from at breakfast. The location is superb, with direct access to the sea.

Wonderful hotel. This is our second year staying here. It's conveniently located with a great bar right on the beach. Highly recommend!
