Guest House Dilijan Orran in Dilijan

We came here end of September. The hotel owner was very friendly and spoke English very well.

I found the description of the room (in Booking.com) a bit misleading as it said there was a kitchen which to me implies I could cook there but it only had a sink, a fridge and one hob on which to boil water for tea or coffee. Also a bit misleading is the description in Booking.com that there is a washing machine. To me this implies I can freely use a machine onsite. In fact they offer a washing service for 1500 AMD. We used the service and had clean washing waiting in our room by the end of the day.

The room itself was quite basic with only one radiator which therefore took some time to heat the room (as it was switched off while we were away). Given the humid climate of Dilijan everything somehow felt a bit cold and damp in the room. The bedding felt a bit old although it was clean.

The bathroom was clean but unfortunately had a permanent toilet smell. There was just a tiny air heater you could switch on before having a shower. It wasn’t super effective. The first night I had a shower but lost the hot water halfway through. Thankfully with a bit of fiddling it came back again afterwards so I was able to finish my shower.

We came by car to Dilijan but if you didn’t have transportation and didn’t want to pay for taxis (though they are very cheap with Yandex) it’s not very conveniently located for the centre. It’s possible to walk to a nearby supermarket but when we did this the first evening we were followed by 2 different persistent street dogs so i didn’t feel comfortable to do that again.

So overall perhaps this is a better destination for the summer months.
