Avenue Deluxe in Sunny Beach

Upon the arrival the man at the reception was rude, after we checked in we had a problem with the room, when I went to talk to him about it before even trying to hear our problem he told me it’s impossible to change rooms and after I tried to talk to him more he mocked me (yes, mocked me!). There was a foul smell in the bathroom, the cleaning was subpar, they only washed the floors once and we stayed a week. I thought the food was okay at first, and then me and another person from our group got food poisoning. The other staff except the one at the reception were okay, especially the servers and bartenders were polite. Overall would not recommend

My stay at the hotel was a mix of good moments and several disappointments. We were given a nice room upon arrival. A special mention goes to the person who cleared the tables — always polite, quick, and attentive. One staff member who truly stood out was Daniel, the shorter bartender. He worked both the pool bar and the bar near the dining area, switching shifts with the other bartender. It was easy to notice the difference depending on who was on duty. Whenever Daniel was working, the bar area — especially the pool bar — was lively and full of people. He naturally drew guests in with his positive energy, constant smile, and friendly conversations. In contrast, the taller bartender didn’t engage much with anyone. He seemed distant, often on his phone, and the atmosphere around the bar felt much quieter when he was there. The difference in guest interaction was very noticeable. The food at the hotel was another low point. For a 4-star hotel, the variety and taste didn’t live up to expectations. A lot of the dishes were bland or poorly cooked — especially the broccoli, which was either undercooked or overboiled. One night we decided to go out and eat at a local restaurant, and that turned out to be the best meal of the week. We had calamari and a few other dishes that were absolutely delicious. Ironically, calamari showed up on the hotel menu the next day, but they were far from enjoyable — badly prepared and lacking flavor. We also had one strange experience late at night. After coming back around 2 a.m., we found the entrance locked — the only way to access our rooms was through reception, and it was shut. The receptionist had apparently gone to sleep, and we had to call the security company to eventually get in. When he did show up, he simply asked why we hadn’t knocked — even though the door clearly said “Open 0:00-0:00.” It wasn’t a huge issue, but it was definitely odd for a hotel claiming round-the-clock reception service. Lastly, the town itself didn’t leave a great impression, especially at night. It felt dirty (piles of trash on the streets) and a bit uncomfortable to walk around, which added to the overall feeling that this trip just wasn’t what I had hoped for. While I appreciate the efforts of some of the staff, especially Daniel and the guy cleaning the tables, I don't see myself returning to this hotel or destination. We stayed for almost a week. Sheets were never changed nor the towels. Some of the sun beds were a bit broken. The bar works 10-22 and the hotel did not provide any kind of entertainment.

One of the worst hotel I’ve ever went to. When we arrived we found our room dirty, used tissues on the bed and under the bed and a very sticky floor. The food is not good. I got a food poisoning from it. Found dead mosquitoes in my rice. On the last day he called us with half an hour earlier to check out and the came and banged on our door and started screaming at us. We told them about the bad stuff that happened to us and he said “What’s my problem? Thats not my problem.”Like it was our fault that we found a dirty room. He started swearing in bulgarian and was very mean. The food made me very sick and I needed a week to get past the bacteria that I got from this hotel. Overall a very bad experience. I wouldn’t recommend coming here.

(Me and my family were in this hotel in august 2022, however, as I'm writing this review in 2024, that date isn't available) Pros: 1. Even though he hotel is small, it looks nice from the outdoors, indoors too. 2. The pool was great, with different depths (the children's zone is fenced off). 3. The room we got was quite big, with a bedroom, bathroom, and one big room for the kitchen, single bed and a TV. (It wasn't a big deal for us, as we weren't spending much time in the room anyway). 4. The room was being cleaned 2-3 times a week. 5. You can talk to the staff in English and Russian. 6. The hotel is located in the city, and there are some markets and restaurants nearby, as well as other hotels surrounding it. P.S If you're planning on going with small children, there aren't any activities for them here, and it's very hard finding any fun stuff to do in the city. P.S.S. The sunbeds near the pool are mostly occupied, sometimes even in early mornings. Cons: 1. The hotel isn't located near the beach, so it's hard to find a way there, as the locals don't really help either. 2. The food could be better. If we would come to eat later, when the breakfast/lunch/dinner has started already for a while, the food would be cold. 3. The staff could be nicer and more helpful. Most of the times we didn't see anyone from the staff being anywhere, doing anything. 4. The surrounding places and buildings look old, ugly, some even abandoned. Ground somewhere around the hotel was littered. 5. Cocktails and alcohol from the bar aren't really good, don't recommend. Overall, there are many things that need to be fixed to make the stay a pleasant experience.
