the staff didnt speak much english, they are not so helpful and very unprofessional. After talking with us they will laugh, and i think and feel that they are laughing about us. And the location is very inconvenient coz the taxi is not allowed inside the subdivision where the hotel is, so you have to walk 3-5 min from the main road. The lobby has a lot of mosquitoes. The pic of the hotel is very different in reality. And it has a weird smell. The design is nice though, other than that. Dont come here.

Definantly encourage staying here rather than a cliche touristy best western if you want the true experience of being in china.
Reasons to stay here.
Traditional style rooms.
It's in a great location, not as much pollution like down by the forbidden city, great shops and entertainment in the same alleys.
A much more authentic feel staying in traditional hutong.
Very good breakfast and decor.
The only downside was they say they have english speaking workers but they only know a couple of words and the room was a little small. Also don't book a tour through the hotel, the people that you go on the tour with will con you out of money and spend the majority of the time taking extra stops to businesses that clearly pay them to have you stop in so they can sell you stuff. Wish we had spent more than a freaking hour at the great wall on 'the great wall of china tour' and not 5 at silly pit stops. The tour guide also didn't accompany us outside of the van and then slept on the rides and expected a tip after we spent double the yuan by the end. The whole tour group was pissed and didn't tip either.

A very luxury atmosphere in this hidden hotel. However, all the rooms are not equals, some are much nicer than others for the same price ! (But Bathrooms are very nice.) Furthermore, the rooms are not soundproof, unfortunately we heard a baby crying during a full night !!
Hopefuly, the staff is helpful and can help you for any kind of booking.

The location was excellent - in the middle of the hutongs. Subway was a 10 minute walk away. Rooms were very nice
Staff were very conflicting with information resulting in some wasted time and delays for us.

Terrible experience: hotel is all show in the lobby but the rooms are terrible- paper thin walls with loud guests shouting between rooms. I asked to move and they put me
on a higher floor in a better room but it had an air-conditioning unit right outside the window constantly humming loudly. Didn’t get any sleep. The staff don’t speak English and couldn’t recommend another hotel when I asked to relocate nor find me a taxi. Avoid this place.

Room was decent by American standards, amazing by Chinese standards. Only hotel I've been to in China where tea bags (no coffee either) aren't supplied in the room. I didn't see any in my room so I went to the front desk and asked for some and the answer was "No." I thought maybe something was lost in translation so I typed it out in Google Translate and the answer was still no. Didn't even give me the option to buy one if I was desperate enough.
The prices they charge for tours are reasonable compared to other hotels but what they charge for car services is highway robbery. They definitely take advantage of the fact that you can't hail a taxi in the hutongs. The metro is a ten minute walk from the hotel and will run you 29 RMB (4 RMB for the metro + 25 RMB for airport express train) to get to Beijing Capital International Airport.
If the tea bag situation hadn't annoyed me so much I would've given them another star.
