West Lake State Guesthouse in Hangzhou

The environment is great, and the service is incredibly thoughtful. They even boiled hot water in advance, and proactively upgraded our room for free based on our situation. They also provided a children's toiletries kit. The only minor issue was that the pillows were too soft, but everything else exceeded our expectations.

Coming to West Lake two days before the Spring Festival, booking this hotel was absolutely the right decision! The group deal package got me a free upgrade to a garden view room in Building 8. The room was spacious and clean, with an understated luxury feel. The ancient trees by the balcony were so close you could almost touch them, and little squirrels scampered across the eaves. The hotel itself is a huge, beautiful garden, and all the decorations and ornaments really show off its taste. Taking the internal shuttle bus to Building 1, you can then stroll along the hotel's private section of West Lake. I got to see West Lake in both sunny and rainy weather, which was truly worthwhile. I also tried the food at Ziwei Hall; honestly, it was pretty standard fare, but hey, it's a Black Pearl restaurant, so that's something. The hotel's breakfast buffet had excellent Chinese pastries – the Cong Bao Hui, Meihua Cake, and Shaobing were all delicious. The service really stands out: the front desk delivered takeout to my room, and the cleaning staff tidied up both in the morning and afternoon after I left. The experience was superb, and I'm planning to come back again in the spring!

The room was exquisitely furnished with a cozy little garden. The cat named 'Huahua' at the entrance of Building 8, which has apparently been 'hired' by the state guesthouse, was absolutely adorable. We enjoyed strolling by West Lake both in the evening and in the morning, and even hiked up Dingjia Mountain. The food was delicious. Our pre-holiday getaway was delightful!

The room was absolutely amazing, truly living up to its reputation as the number one garden hotel by West Lake. I've stayed here before, and the quality has always been consistently excellent. Even with a change in ownership, the high level of service remains. It's superb! Although the security level has slightly decreased, the overall experience is still top-notch. The front desk staff and employees throughout the various buildings are all very diligent and patient, providing outstanding service. The hotel itself boasts an excellent location right next to West Lake, yet it's incredibly quiet. They even offer a complimentary travel photography service. The hotel's Ziwei Hall is also a very famous restaurant, and choosing Guobin Hotel allows for a wonderful dining experience there, with some dishes even offering a discount for in-house guests.

The hotel's location is a major plus, right by the lake, which is fantastic. You could spend half a day just exploring the grounds, which offer a perfect blend of cultural landmarks and natural beauty. It’s ideal for leisurely strolls and taking photos.

They have charging stations for electric vehicles (State Grid and TELD) located on the hillside opposite the coffee shop in Building 8.

My room was in the furthest part of Building 8 and was generally fine, but the soundproofing wasn't great. There was a lot of noise that night from tree maintenance on Yanggong Causeway.

The buffet dinner and breakfast were both good and I'd recommend them.

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. Amazing scenery only for the hotel guests, very good room and breakfast. It is also a blast to work with the photographer 果果, she is very professional and funny. However, do bear in mind that the photographer might push you to purchase all the photos (only provided 5 free photos). We think that the photos are very pretty so we just purchased all of it.

Thanks to Trip.com's "One City, One Room" promotion, I once again enjoyed a complimentary night at the West Lake State Guest House. The hotel, as always, boasts beautiful scenery. With Chinese New Year approaching, there was a lovely touch of winter festivity that wasn't there during my summer visits. The service this time was even more attentive and thoughtful than my previous two stays. After understanding my needs, the front desk graciously upgraded my room for free, providing me with one that offered a more expansive view. My sincere thanks to the hotel; the State Guest House will always be my top choice when I visit Hangzhou.

Traveling with my family for a holiday, we visited the 'Number One Garden Under Heaven' and truly experienced what 'national hospitality' feels like.

At check-in, the front desk offered, 'We've upgraded you to a suite with a courtyard,' free of charge. Upon opening the door, we were greeted by a private little garden. Birds chirped in the morning, and the wind swayed the shadows of the osmanthus trees. It was so quiet I could hear my own heartbeat.

The room was fully stocked with amenities: sewing kit, shoehorn, thick-soled slippers were all provided, and the mini-bar had a rich selection of drinks and snacks. Even more surprisingly, it was my birthday that day, and the hotel thoughtfully delivered a small birthday cake. The candlelight flickered in the evening breeze of the courtyard, instantly turning our trip into a memorable anniversary.

Although the ZIWEI restaurant was pricey, the West Lake醋鱼 (vinegar fish) was so good it melted away my homesickness. The waitstaff's smiles carried the gentle charm of Jiangnan.

Xiao Zhao, our travel photographer, was clearly dedicated; the candid shots she took were natural and beautiful.

Even after check-out, the shuttle bus was still available for transfers within the garden, helping with our luggage, and we could leave our car parked for the entire day.

This warmth of being treated with such care, and the unique beauty unlike anywhere else, will stay in my heart for a long, long time…

Daily welcome fruit: The fruit and refreshments were carefully selected, and the persimmon cakes were truly delicious!

Ambiance: The overall environment lives up to its reputation 😎 Absolutely amazing! I'll definitely come back next time.

The bag was also very high quality; it lasted a whole day of sightseeing without breaking ✌︎˶╹ꇴ╹˶✌︎

The food at Ziwei Hall is also good. Although some dishes are a bit pricey, it's acceptable for a hotel restaurant. My family really liked their flavors.
