Hotel Magdalena in Zagreb

My wife and I stayed at the, Hotel Magdalena, on our way to and from Brela. The hotel is situated close to the A1 highway, and close to many restaurants. The hotel itself is located in kind of industrial/farmland, and you might question whether you're at the right place from a distance. But don't let that fool you! This cute hotel is exceptional is all ways. The owners take great pride in cleanliness, and upkeep. The entire hotel, rooms, bathrooms, passageways, balconies, and driveway are spotless! The staff are courteous, professional, and super helpful. On top of that, their breakfast is really nice and food is fresh with just the right amount of choices. We don''t pass through this part of the world very often, but we'll definitely stay here at, Hotel Magdalena, on our next visit!

Great little hotel. I had some company obligations in Donji Stupnik (Lučko) and the hotel was perfectly positioned, couple of kilometers to the industry area, couple of kilometers to the Arena centar (shopping, dining, free time), and close to the highway if you want to get to a nother part of the city fast.
But it's out of the way enough not be in the noisey areas, so you can get a good night's sleep.
The staff is really friendly and helpful.
The rooms are big, clean and have everything you need.
And the breakfast was abundant.

The hotel was very nice. It was located right by the road. The service was excellent and everything was very clean. I recommend staying there to everyone traveling via the Turkey route.

I recently spent a few days at this family-run hotel and had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The property is very conveniently located, with easy access to local city transport, which made moving around the area straightforward.

I’ve visited this place before and have fond memories — particularly from a few years ago when the chef kindly prepared porridge with milk for my kids, honoring a small extra request with genuine hospitality. It was a lovely touch, and I truly appreciated that he even remembered this during our recent conversation, which made us feel very welcome.

Unfortunately, the follow-through this time was disappointing. Although the same request was initially agreed to, the porridge was not prepared as discussed. Despite my polite clarification with the staff, there was some confusion and a long delay. I waited patiently, assuming it was being corrected, only to be informed later that it wouldn’t be possible due to other tasks assigned by the chef. A quick update earlier would have made a big difference — especially with kids waiting.

I share this not as criticism, but as a suggestion toward better coordination and communication between kitchen and service staff. In fact, a polite “no” to such extra requests would have been more considerate and would help manage guest expectations more clearly — particularly when the team is busy.

A minor note: having complimentary water in the rooms would also be a thoughtful addition.

This place doesn’t require major changes, just a bit of fine-tuning in service flow and consistency. With that, it could truly shine — and easily be a 10 out of 10 — especially given the care and personal attention the owner has shown in the past.

A highly recommended establishment, with very modern and clean rooms and all the necessary services for your stay in Zagreb.
The breakfast was varied and abundant, with options for all tastes.
The reception staff was very friendly.
It is located in a quiet, suburban area near a large shopping center.
The room was very spacious and had a large terrace to enjoy the outdoors.

The family suite was nice.
