Arkin Palm Beach Hotel in Famagusta

We had a terrible stay. The hotel is promoted as the Arkin Palm Beach hotel and Casino. The casino is closed. There was no communication from the hotel that the casino was no longer available. When I asked to discuss this with a manager I was told the manager was at home and I was not important enough for him to speak to me. When I reiterated I would like to speak to someone in charge I was told there was no one!! Eventually when I pointed out someone must be ultimately responsible for the hotel a ‘general manager’ was wheeled out. To compensate us for the lack of communication we were offered (after he had rung the manager at his home) a free evening meal. The food was absolutely terrible. The hotel advertises itself as Northern Cyprus’s most luxurious 5 star boutique hotel. The food was most definitely not 5 star. None of the menus they advertise were available and the only offering were a buffet in one restaurant, heavily targeted towards a Turkish palette. It was not good food and it was cold.
The hotel is very clean and sits on a lovely beach which we would have visited if it was not raining but overall location and cleanliness do compensate for poor service and incorrect advertising. I will not be returning.

We have stayed here many times but this will probably be our last. The service was poor, we felt that they couldn’t be bothered to serve foreign guests. The room was small and had a lingering smell of smoke. Drinks were expensive. On one day they hosted a political dinner accompanied by very loud rock music - not conducive to a relaxing break.

The view overlooking the beach is amazing, but the rest of the hotel is mediocre 😒

It’s very pricey for what it actually is. The staff are lovely, especially Nazar who was an affable and friendly chap, however this hotel does not represent value for money. The facilities are very basic and this is reflected in the rooms and amenities. The dining, although acceptable, is nothing to write home about. The pool is very basic and there is very little for the children to do. I am also confused about the beaches, which people seem to love, but I found to be nice but not spectacular. Either I missed the point of this hotel or people have unnecessarily hyped it up. This felt like a very basic IBIS type hotel that happens to be in Cyprus. Considering what they charge, I think the Arkin needs to step it up.
