The King Charles in Prague

My first bad review! I just had to write one!!! The hotel's location is pretty good and has some character, but it's at the top of a big hill, so if you don't like a climb, beware! As for the service, I have to say, it was the worst of the worst! When I booked, I saw the 11 AM checkout time, so when I checked in, I specifically asked the friendly guy at the front desk if I could extend it to 12 PM. He said it was absolutely fine, so I happily went sightseeing without rushing back. However, when I returned at 12 PM to check out, the female receptionist wouldn't even let me go upstairs. She said I had to pay for checking out late, an extra 20 Euros! I explained that I had confirmed the late checkout earlier, and my translation app even had the history, but she still wouldn't acknowledge it! Since I had a flight to catch and no time, I paid the extra 20 Euros!

Honestly, I was angry at the time, but I forgot about it after returning home. Today, I stumbled upon the booking again, and it brought back the only unpleasant memory from my entire Europe trip! I'm sharing my experience to give others a heads-up!

Regarding the cleanliness, in picture one, the bedside table, and picture two, the cabinet – I'm not sure if it was the wood oozing oil or what, but they were covered in a thick layer of grease. My phone and water bottle became all sticky after I placed them on top. I tried to clean the furniture myself, but after using many wet wipes, which came away covered in thick, dirty grime, there was no improvement. I ended up covering them with a towel. The curtains in picture three looked okay, but when I tried to close them, I found they were broken. I had to tie them up with a string just to get them to close!

Avoid this place!
