Coco-Mat Hotel Santorini in Akrotiri

It is my intention to be super fair and honest in this review. Firstly, the hotel is stunning and in the best position for an amazing view. Secondly, Dimitris could have not done better to manage the damages that the management is doing to this establishment and to make our stay pleasant. The management has decided to scrap the restaurant service for this season and to close the bar at 4pm (this was due to the fact that they did not have enough bookings). We had our breakfast included in the price, but again the smart management has decided that espresso coffee would be charged extra while a coffee frappe’ would be included in the breakfast. My advice to anyone who is thinking to book is to check beforehand whether they have resumed the restaurant activities and the opening time of the bar; otherwise you will risk to be left with no services whatsoever after 4pm. No drinks, no water no nothing. Last but not least the rooms were super small and with substandard cleanliness

*VERY DISAPPOINTED* We didn’t have a good experience unfortunately. The property is very tired and in desperate need of refurbishment and attention. Rusty railings. Pool is dirty/sides covered in green algae. Sunbeds are worn and very dirty with, bad sewage smell in the room. Safety hazard with slippery floors painted in gloss, which caused both myself and my daughter to slip. The water around the pool has nowhere to drain and just pools by the pool entrance. The property is supposed to be for guests of 14 years, however there was a 10 year old child jumping into the pool splashing everyone, far from the peaceful ‘haven’ that was advertised. The noise from the road is quite bad as the area around the hotel is quite open, especially in the afternoons. Wooden bikes were not available/are not there, the ‘gym’ was a joke - literally a few weights and a wooden bench next to the pool. Not sure you can call that a gym! The mattress in our room was badly worn with ‘dips’/sagging in the middle. Needless to say we didn’t sleep and now suffering with back as a result. Air con is hit & miss. We requested to leave after the first night, however as we prepaid the hotel quoted their non-refundable ‘policy’

There was a persistent sewage smell in our room, and the glossy painted floors posed a safety hazard, causing both myself and my daughter to slip. Water around the pool had nowhere to drain, pooling by the entrance. Although the property is marketed for guests aged 14+, we encountered a 10-year-old child jumping into the pool and splashing everyone, which was far from the peaceful ‘haven’ we expected. The noise from the nearby road was also quite disruptive, especially in the afternoons. Air Conditioning also struggled. We were disappointed to find that the wooden bikes advertised were not available, and the so-called ‘gym’ consisted of just a few weights and a wooden bench next to the pool — not what we had in mind. Moreover, the mattress in our room was badly worn and sagging in the middle, leading to a poor night's sleep and resulting in back pain. After our first night, I addressed these concerns with the hotel manager and kindly requested to be charged for only one night so we could leave. Unfortunately, this request was denied due to their non-refundable booking policy. (we prepaid for three nights through *******) On a positive note, the staff were polite and friendly, and the breakfast was decent. The view from the hotel was also very nice. I appreciate that everyone has different standards, but this hotel was marketed as a luxury, peaceful haven for adults, and our experience did not align with that promise. Given that we nearly paid €300 per night, the value for money simply isn't there, and we regretted booking this hotel.
