Just returned from a week staying at this hotel. The location was perfect close to everything. The hotel was clean and rooms were a good size. Came to the Varres as at the end of our holiday my wife was admitted to hospital on the day we should have flown home. Moved to Varres Hotel as it is close if not the closest to the hospital. All the staff were brilliant and their shuttle service spot on , can’t fault the hotel or staff, and when we are back in Zakynthos will head for the Varres rather then a beach all inclusive hotel .

Excellent place! If you are in Zante for a quiet and peaceful vacation - Varres is a great place for that. Rooms are cosy, the pool is ultra clean and the staff is just perfect. 30 minutes to the port by foot, or 7-8 mins with a car. Shuttles were available for anywhere on the island. What an amazing Hotel! Our room had that charming local Zakynthian style, but everything was modern and newly renovated. The highlight, though, was the rooftop pool—amazing views and a super relaxing vibe. What stood out most was how clean everything was—our room, the lobby, even the pool area. The location is excellent. It is right in the center of Zakynthos Town. I booked a sea view room and watched the sunrise directly from the balcony. The view was superb. The room was average and the facilities were quite old, but the location offset many of the shortcomings. The location is definitely good, and the front desk is quite polite. But the facilities are a bit old. The air conditioner is facing the TV, and it won't turn on if you don't close the door. We stayed for three nights. There are small shops and restaurants around the hotel. However, the hotel facilities were always out of order. The power circuit breaker in the room tripped on the first day and the water supply was cut off for the next two days.

Amazing hotel. We loved our room with private pool. The floating breakfast was a beautiful addition to the stay. All the of the food has been fantastic. The staff have all been helpful and attentive. The only con was the bathroom - while beautifully designed, water from the shower got almost everywhere due to the wet bathroom style.

Just spent 10 wonderful days at this four star hotel... staff are excellent, all friendly and working hard to ensure we had a great experience. Rooms were cleaned every day and our cases were taken to our room and collected on departure day. Pool is kept spotless as was the restaurant with lots of choice every day. Only one observation was that the evening entertainment could have been better.

Please note that Golden Sun Hotel and Golden Sun Resort and Spa are 2 very different hotels but Google shows them as one hotel. We stayed at Golden Sun Hotel, all-inclusive. The rooms are lovely and spacious but lack storage. The food was hit-and-miss. Some nights there seemed to be plenty I could eat and other nights there was nothing to suit me but that's my personal preference. There isn't loads...

Great hotel, excellent staff. Small and friendly. Looking a little old now. But remember the Greek hotel star system is different to ours. What you think is a 4 or 5 star, is not the same as the UK.
