Rooms and grounds are generally clean and modern after renovation, with some rooms featuring private pools or jacuzzis. Staff are often described as friendly and helpful, with a welcoming atmosphere noted by several guests. Location is praised for proximity to Bali village, local beaches, and accessible tavernas offering Greek food. Daily room cleaning and towel changes every few days are appreciated by visitors. Free sunbeds on Livadi Beach and the availability of a barbecue dinner add value to the stay. Several reviews mention poor sound insulation, with loud French-language animation and karaoke disrupting relaxation. Food quality and variety receive mixed feedback; some find it fresh but repetitive, others describe it as low quality and cold. All-inclusive drink options are limited and often described as watered down or of poor quality. Some rooms have issues such as old or stained linens, insufficient furniture, and maintenance problems like dirty bathrooms or malfunctioning showers. Wi-Fi connectivity is weak in some areas, and communication in English can be limited due to the predominantly French-speaking staff.

Description

Resol Hotel is a modest 3-star property located on the coast of Crete near the village of Bali. Built in 1998 and renovated in 2012, it comprises five three-story buildings with a total of 83 rooms covering an area of 2000 m². Guests can expect simple, clean accommodation options ranging from Economy rooms to Suites, some featuring private pools or jacuzzis. The hotel offers a range of facilities including a restaurant with buffet options, a bar, an outdoor pool, and a terrace for sunbathing. Free Wi-Fi is available in public areas, though some guests have noted connectivity issues. The setting is convenient for those interested in water sports on the nearby sandy public beach, which is 150 meters away across a road. While the hotel is praised for its location and friendly staff, reviews highlight mixed experiences regarding room conditions, food variety, and the all-inclusive drink selection. The hotel accepts only cash payments and does not allow pets.

Location

Resol Hotel is situated approximately 800 meters from the village of Bali on Crete’s coastline. The nearest sandy public beach, Varkotopos beach, is just 160 meters from the hotel, separated by a road, with paid sun loungers and umbrellas available. The hotel is about 35 km from Nikos Kazantzakis Airport (HER) near Heraklion and 30 km from the city of Rethymno. Bali offers several tavernas nearby, providing guests easy access to traditional Greek cuisine. The hotel’s central location makes it possible to walk to multiple beaches and local shops, with free sunbeds provided on Livadi Beach by the Golden Sun restaurant, a short 6-minute walk away.

This place is classified as a 4-star hotel; however, my partner and I's experience did not meet our expectations of a 4-star hotel, but rather a 3-star hotel (since you have to pay a hotel tax, it makes quite a difference).
We rented a room with a private pool. The private pool was dirtier, where the water bordered the edge, it was quite green and the fence to the pool area did not have a gate. The deckchairs were not cleaned for a long time - a lot of webs and dirt which we had to clean manually. But the pool was cleaned out of bugs each morning.

The hotel promised a dedicated fitness area; there were some exercise machines there, but they were not available to hotel guests - they were covered with tarpaulins.
The all-inclusive stay included alcoholic drinks and cocktails at the bar, the menu did not include any classic options and the quality was also a bit lacking.
However, the staff was helpful and friendly.

The room had an old fridge that was very dirty, the safe for storing valuables was stuck together with adhesive tape, the sheets on the bed were washed but had stains and had the name of another place. There was no wardrobe available, only a stick with hangers. The curtains also had clearly visible stains. The bathrobes provided were torn at the sleeves and missing a belt.

The hotel had great food, but after 3 days it got a bit repetitive, but the quality was decent. I would prefer bigger seafood selection though. There was a barbecue for dinner, which offered an alternative.
An early breakfast or lunch could be arranged, but an early breakfast only meant the option of making toast with ham and cheese or a sweet toast, no hot breakfast option. However, for lunch it meant 2 slices of toast with a slice of cheese in between - not at all sufficient and not very healthy, 1 fruit, 2 biscuits and water.
The à la carte menu only included a choice of two main courses, which had obviously been heated in a microwave, and one of the menu items was missing.

But otherwise, the common pool was nice, deck chairs were available around the pool (some were a bit broken but still usable), the distance to beach was great with free deck chairs available for hotel guests which was wonderful. The room was cleaned daily with towels changed every 3 days which was great. But there was no option to hang on the door "Do not disturb"/"Do not clean today" sign if we wished.

The French Karaoke nights are sooo loud. We did not stay at the hotel, but at another location at the other side of the beach and it was so incredibly loud, we could not really sit outside because of the noise. Cannot imagine staying at this hotel and being even closer to people that think they can sing shouting in the microphone all night...

Nice staff and the hotel itself was nice. The food was pretty rubbish and the "all inclusive" bar was terrible. The barman was great but the drink selection was poor and the beer was awful. We didn't stay for evening meal food as the breakfast and lunch was so poor. The pool area was nice but totally ruined by the loud music that played all day. Overall not a great holiday experience.

- Very bad sound isolation
- No changing the sheets
- No changing the bathrobes. If you leave it on the floor, they will just put it on the bed
- No cleaning the room or at least the bathroom
- Very old rooms.
- The woman on the bar is not pleasant at all. She is never smiling to the client, especially if you are not a young man who is flirting with her.
- Coctails that are included in all-inclusive are awful. Everything else is 9€ per coctail when in the restaurants is 7-8€ with a beautiful presentation.
- Old ugly blankets.
- No hotel shoes in our room.
- Swimming pool is full of insects.
- First room was a real disaster! Ful of moisture everywhere. As in my opinion, they should no-one never Check-in this room. But what do you think, in one hour that they changed the room for us, they put new guests there. It is not appropriate for living.
- No juice. Tea is only black and coffee full of water.

This is a nice 2 stars hotel but not 3 or 4.

+ Nice team of The Jumbo Club
+ Good location of the hotel
+ Smoking allowed
+ The first time, they gave us a horrible room, full of moisture, but they changed in a few days on our request.
+ Food is not varied (especially desserts) but is delicious.
+ The staff of the kitchen and restaurant are very nice and smiling.
+ The restaurants nearby are very nice and not expensive.

Firstly, as other reviews state, yes it is a mainly French hotel but they animation team were very inclusive and the guests were all friendly and how hard is it for us English to say bonjour with a smile? The hotel is superb, we didn't pay tourist tax and the safe in the room was included. The WiFi is fantastic and all of the staff were great and help is always available. The food is what you would expect of any all inclusive in Greece but we managed to find something to eat every night. There's always greek style bacon, beans, eggs and toast on a morning and plenty of tea and coffee. The rooms are very clean and cleaned daily apart from a Sunday however, our room got cleaned on the Sunday also. Towels changed every second day. The hotel has free sunbeds on Livadi Beach and this is found in front of the Golden Sun restaurant. The hotel is in an ideal location in the middle of Bali. There is entertainment every night and the animation team are superb! We will be back in 2025! I would have given 5* but the all inclusive drinks are not good. You can get raki, ouzo and mastika cocktails and a couple of gin drinks and rosé, beer, wine and soft drinks. Other hotels we have stayed in Bali has cheap whiskey and Pina coladas available. This would not cost the hotel alot but would improve customer satisfaction massively. Thank you especially to Lisa and Adonis at the bar and we will see you next season ! Efcharisto and Merci beaucoup!

1 week stay in September 2024, starting 17th. Be ready to pay tourist tax the first thing at the reception when you check in. If you don’t know French , you better learn before you go there :)) entertainment is in french and they rarely speak English or at least a version of it. Very cheap soft drinks , rum, gin and local spirits only, if you want something better , you have to pay. Bottled Water is not for free, you pay for that as well. We had a Superior Room with Private Swimming Pool, the room was decent, bathroom was dirty, toilets weren’t cleaned for some time and the shower wasn’t working very well. You could still shower but be careful of the hot water. With this room , we got a very cheap bottle of white wine and two apples:)). We did not have any kettle , coffee, tea, cups or glasses. We never had the swimming pool area cleaned or the table outside. Towels changed every 4 days, only one bath hood available. Never changed the bedding. The water in the pool was very cold and we couldn’t bathe more than once. Food will be the same everyday and very bad deserts. Cheap ingredients and a lot of sugar. Kitchen staff touch the food with no gloves or kitchen utensils. By the third day, we couldn’t eat there anymore. The soft drinks were something horrible. Very Good location. The hotel is very close to beach ( both of them) and to very good restaurants. Pool snacks will be the same cold offering every day , leftovers from breakfast and Lunch. Maybe you could say is a two star but definitely not a four star.

We had booked a double room ultra all inclusive at the Resol this last week. We arrived very late at night and were shown to a room- the staff member left quickly. We were too tired to look closely, but the “double” was two twins pushed together and the springs coming through on one of them and the toilet door was hanging off. Whole room was filthy and I wouldn’t have gone near the shower. We complained in the morning and were told we could upgrade at a cost of €240. It was that or find another hotel so we paid. The room was a considerable improvement, but still nothing like a four star hotel as advertised. Now the worst bit, the food. It is categorically the worst we have eaten anywhere in the world . It was so bad we ate out everyday (thankfully there are great restaurants in walking distance) the only thing we had from the restaurant was toast. The hot food was always stone cold. The one al a carte meal was a disgrace. Then we move onto the “all inclusive “ drinks. All alcohol was watered down and yet you had to pay extra for water 🤷🏻‍♂️ how can water not be included in all inclusive ? The hotels only saving grace was that the staff were helpful and friendly . Bali itself is fantastic if you want a quiet holiday. Just avoid the Resol! Ps also avoid travel agents “holiday globe” and the various other names they call themselves - totally mis- sold

2 week stay in September 2024,firstly be prepared for the tourist tax you will pay If you don't speak French then you will be alienated as entertainment is in french. Vodka and whiskey are not included in all inclusive packages,,rum and gin and local spirits only. Make sure and ask for an updated room with netflix on the TV as only BBC news in English. Food will be the same everyday and is cold 90% of the time. Good location for eating out as I guarantee you will not be pleased with the food. Bedding and mattress are very old and a double is 2 singles pushed together. Soft drinks are very cheap brands as are the gin and rum Pool snacks will be the same cold offering every day. This is nowhere near a four star complex. Very very disappointed family.

The actual hotel, accommodation, food all of a good standard, the Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. The main problem was that the Animation team were all French and everything was spoken in French ( with the odd English word thrown in) all the games were conducted in French, but as the hotel was over 90% French they really enjoyed it, but we felt excluded. Before and after the sessions, the animation team were all friendly enough to us and spoke in English to us. I would not recommend anyone who is not fluent and completely understands French to stay here, which is unfortunate. We did have a nice two weeks, but being on a Greek island we did expect some genuine Greek entertainment ( one night per week 3 Greek dancers) other than that quiz in French ball games etc all in French. I have nothing against the French, but did not expect virtually the whole hotel to be French. There are 2 beaches a short walk from hotel, very steep hills on the way back! Be careful if the sunbed hire on them ranging from 10€ to20€ for two, except on the Jumbo club free ones on the end of one beach. There is a dotto train that runs about every hour at a charge of 5€ round trip pp

Hotel Resol has a family atmosphere, it is not a luxury hotel, but everywhere is clean and the staff is friendly. The rooms are modern, the advantage is that some have a private jacuzzi or pool. The location of the hotel is especially great, it is close to the beach and the center. As for the food, which is often criticized, the food was always fresh, tasty, everyone could choose from various side dishes and salads and put together their own menu. We felt very comfortable here.
