Gdm Megaron, Historical Monument Hotel in Heraklio Town

Very nice room and very comfortable bed, with excellent facilities too. A wonderful breakfast service with an incredible range of foods to choose from. A cheerful experience with all staff members. Overall an excellent stay.

Terrific spot, beautiful rooms, lovely rooftop pool, walking distance from lots of great places but also has a parking lot which was HUGE for us. Most of all, the staff was respectful, kind, helpful, and attentive! Gave us some complimentary bits and bobs for our honeymoon which we greatly appreciated. It felt like a real high-class, high-touch experience.

Been so close to an ancient past, visiting museums and enjoying first class dining all within walking distance.
Super friendly kind hearted reception at arrival. Our rooms were spacious, superior furnishings with all the amenities one could ask for in the bathroom and in the kitchen nook. In all our years of travel we have never experienced a combination of warm heartedness coupled with professionalism and genuine friendliness in one.
From the reception to the staff at breakfast we were met with happiness. The cleaning staff we're especially forthcoming and kind.
Our views from our room facing the harbour was outer worldly. Panoramic views of the Harbour, the Port, the Ocean and the ancient walls kept us in awe. We watched the sun set and each morning we were filled with excited anticipation of the new ships in the harbour.
And this all with never hearing a sound from outside unless we opened the terraces doors and windows.
Totally soundproof.
We thoroughly enjoyed five star treatment in this hotel.
A special thanks to the receptionist Vikky for her help and kindness and solid recommendations on what to do, which bus to take and on where to dine. She was untiring during our 8 night stay here.

We spent one great night at Megaron Hotel during our honeymoon. We loved the hotel pool, where you can get drinks and food delivered to your chair. The pool has a great view of the harbour. Our room was spacious and clean with a large patio also overlooking the harbour (we were lucky enough to receive an upgrade on check-in, which we absolutely loved). The breakfast had so many amazing options, including local Cretan food, and was well worth it. The location was conveniently close to sights and transportation: after easily catching a bus to Knossos during the day, we walked along the harbour and through the old town of Heraklion at night. The next morning, we walked across the street to catch our ferry to the islands (we could literally see our ferry from the breakfast table).

I recently spent a few nights at Megaron Hotel in Crete, and had an outstanding experience from start to finish. The staff were all warm and professional, - but I especially want to commend the manager, who truly went above and beyond! - She made every effort to ensure things ran smoothly and made me feel genuinely welcome.

The room was immaculate and well‑appointed — comfortable bed, quiet environment, excellent amenities, and thoughtful touches like complimentary bottled water and high‑quality toiletries. The housekeeping staff were discreet but thorough, maintaining the room to top standards.

Breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of fresh options and good coffee. The hotel’s location is ideal — convenient to local attractions, restaurants and transport — yet peaceful enough to relax in the evenings.

Overall, Megaron Hotel is fantastic. With its excellent service (especially from management), great location and comfortable rooms, I would absolutely stay again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

The hotel building has a rich historical feel. Located near the sea, adjacent to the ruins of the pier, and surrounded by the old town, it offers convenient transportation. The breakfast is plentiful and delicious, and the rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed. Highly recommended.
