Porto Alegre in Kato Galatas

We spent a wonderful week at the Porto Alegre Hotel. The rooms are very well-kept and clean, and there's air conditioning. The hotel staff took great care of us and our room, making sure we had everything we needed. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the hotel, which was very varied. There was something new to try every day. The view of the sea from the fourth-floor terrace during breakfast was breathtaking, making it hard to leave. The hotel has a beautiful pool with a wonderful view of the surrounding area and the sunsets. Porto Alegre has ample parking, so you don't have to worry about leaving your car. The hotel's location is ideal, with bus stops, shops, and restaurants right outside the entrance. You can leave your luggage in the hotel's storage room on the day of your departure. The owners are very kind and helpful and will help you with anything you need. Thank you so much. We stayed for 2 weeks and it's a beautiful well kept hotel. The hotel was always clean and smelling fresh which was incredible. The beds were super comfortable. Housekeeping did an excellent job with cleaning the room, balcony and bathroom, changing the sheets and ensuring we had fresh towels. The location is ideal because it's in walking distance to beaches, the bus line and several restaurants. Great vibes all around. The best part is the breakfast view.

We spent 8 days at this lovely hotel. Roula was exceptional and helped us with getting around the island and recommending places to eat and visit. She was always smiling, welcoming and helpful. Katerina did an amazing job making sure our room was spotlessly clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The pool area was always kept very clean. Super breakfast every morning which varied but had a mixture of both traditional and greek food. I would really recommend this place and if you want to see a bit more of the island rent a boat from Nicos in the little harbour. He was amazing too.

Beautiful,good size and comfortable room. Two restaurants and market are in walking distance.
Breakfast with ocean view and good food.

Stayed for 3 nights and it was such an amazing experience! The staff were so friendly and attended to every need. The view of the ocean from the pool and breakfast was amazing as well. Very conveniently located next to a bus stop to get to other beaches. Definitely recommend Porto Allegre!

This hotel was fantastic! The rooms were spacious, with incredibly comfortable beds. I loved the breakfast—so many delicious options! The staff was amazing, and the beach view was stunning. Perfect location, just 15 minutes from the center of Chania!

Peaceful, directly across from the ocean! Easy access to the main island highway and good restaurants within walking distance!

Pros: Fabulous outlook on the top floor for breakfast and great view from the pool both over the small bay/harbour area out to sea.
Pool never busy during our stay (September)
Very clean, spacious room 311, triple (partial sea view, though this was only when at the edge of the balcony. )
Friendly and helpful staff, happy to pre-book taxi or help arrange excursions.
Very handy for the very frequent local bus. (Tickets are cheaper from the little kiosk or mini market on the way to Kalamaki bus stop. Buy in bulk and go to the closer bus stop if strolling really isn't your thing.)
Very quiet overnight.
Air con worked well, around 33c outside, room kept at 23 was very comfortable and the air con was quiet. (It was noiser if trying to get to 16c but that was impossibly cool and not comfortable to live in!)
Small selection of restaurants nearby.
Easy walk this beach.

Cons: it's on the coast road so there's a measure of traffic noise at the pool.
Breakfast was basic, ample but well short of amazing. (Ham and orange drink of low quality, not sure if the bacon was real, plenty of egg and cake options)
It's 3 miles outside Chania centre, this might not suit everyone.

Summary, I'd come again.

Having a lovely time at Porto Alegre Hotel.
The rooms are clean, the air-conditioning works well. (Discovered it works even better if you don't turn it down very low, 21 was ideal and even 23 at night face is a comfortable peaceful night sleep.) Our room is in the 3rd floor. Booked "Partial sea view" but this is really only visible leaning over the balcony. Our room is quite far back in the hotel away from both the sea and the road and is quiet. (311- large triple) The balcony is quite small.
Staff have been very helpful, booking a taxi from the airport as we arrived very late.
Breakfast has a nice mix of food and it's always topped up. (It's not real orange juice but it's tasty. The coffee is very good, , regards food the rice pudding is lovely)
