Nordic Guest House in Keflavik

worst guest house of our travel in Iceland. This is just a transit place to go to the airport. A lot of noise, I could not sleep of the night. People can arrive and leave at any time. So all the night you have the entrance door that slams. Moreover you have in the corridor a ventilation that makes a sound of the devil and the quality of the walls is so bad that everything vibrates. The buildings are an integral part of a car rental company in an industrial area. The positive is the personnel is cool, the place is clean and the schedule to the airport is included.

This should not be labeled a 3-star hotel. It is basically a hostel with no front desk and a shared bathroom amongst 5+ rooms with multiple beds each. The shower drain was clogged so taking a shower resulted in water flowing into the bathroom and hallway, and there was a tool in the bathroom to help push it back into the bathroom - apparently this must happen often enough to warrant that. The property is also under construction. It is clean and was a place to wait out the storm, and therefore I marked it 2 stars. I was trapped in Iceland due to a wind storm along with 2800 other travelers and needed a place to stay when almost everything else was booked out - so it was adequate for that purpose with a couple nearby restaurants to make it manageable. However, do not expect 3-stars.

There are renovations going on and may be alittle noisy in the day time. When i checked in at 4pm, there was no one at the reception. I thought 4pm was still pretty early and there should be someone around to help me check in. There is a breakfast area on the upper floors and guests can contribute their leftovers before they check out. The beds had a slight pungent smell, there wasnt even sheets. There was only 2 toilets which wasn't enough for over 20 guests. I understand this is a cheap guesthouse considering Iceland standards but i would not want to stay here again
