A more traditional experience in a faded colonial building.
Lovely welcome from the staff and excellent support
We were able to walk the whole historic past of the city from here easily
Be careful crossing roads especially at busy times
There are stairs as it’s first floor
Very good value
Not as pretty outside as you may expect but that was of no real concern to us on the inside

The room was smaller than the photos. The staff was friendly and pleasant. The breakfast was quite large and delicious, with a choice of daily menus. The water actually was hot.

A rather depressing place, much like Mumbai itself. The building exterior is completely dilapidated, and the surrounding streets and structures look like slums. The hotel is on the 2nd floor, accessed by a steep staircase with no elevator. The hotel itself is clean but quite basic. The rooms are tiny, and the windows are small. It's tolerable, but not for $60 a night. The linen is old but clean, housekeeping is good, and the staff are helpful and always ready to assist, which is a plus. Breakfast consists of two eggs cooked however you like, juice, and tea served in unwashed cups. Verdict: Not worth staying here, even though it's in the city center (and the Taj Palace isn't worth it either – step outside and you're met with squalor, poverty, and rats). It's simply not worth the money. Choose modern chain hotels near the airport and take a taxi into the city center.

The room has no windows, which can make it feel stuffy and hot. Other than that, there were no particular issues.

Elphinstone hotel is a clean property in a reasonable location. Hotel surroundings are not good. Hotel is situated in the first floor of a building. There’s no elevator. Need to climb the steps. Bell boys are ready to bring your baggages to your room. Service is excellent. Breakfast is very very simple. Rooms are quite good and very clean. All the staffs are in very good behavior.

The location is close to the center, but the surroundings are uninspiring. Downstairs is a restaurant, and the atmosphere is a bit strange. It's impossible to walk anywhere, and the roads are inconvenient.

It was my first night in India and I'm really glad I stayed here. The price was reasonable and the facilities and service were very good. The outlets for charging are the same type A as in Japan. There is a partition between the shower and toilet and amenities such as shampoo are provided. There is also a safe with a combination code. The breakfast seems to change depending on the day of the week.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone going to India or Mumbai for the first time.

Tourist-friendly hotel, very helpful and smiling staff. Very convenient location for tourists who want to get to know the life of the locals and nearby tourist attractions. We recommend staying here with all our heart. Nice option of luggage storage and the staff takes care of customers even after check-out until the moment of departure on the next journey.
