Mirasole International Hotel in Gaeta

After leaving Roma I decided to explore a quaint coastal town and stayed at this wonderful little hotel. It’s an absolute gem! With a beautiful pool and an ideal location just three blocks from the beach, everything felt perfectly situated. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, featuring nice bathrooms and relaxing balconies. I couldn’t recommend it more!

You know how it is—after all these years of chasing the perfect escape across Europe, you occasionally stumble upon a place that makes you question every prior trip. Well, I’ve found it. Hotel Mirasole International in Gaeta. The only real problem with the place is that I simply don’t want to check out. I’ve already extended my stay not once, but twice, and I’m still grieving the fact that I must leave later this week.

I wish I’d discovered this gem years ago. All that time I wasted on the usual suspects—France, the Amalfi Coast, the over-hyped spots in Capri. Don’t get me wrong, they have their charms, but this? This I would put up against any of them without hesitation. The food is every bit as good, the service is equal or better, and you don’t have to deal with the hassle, the crowds, or the ferry rides. Gaeta itself is an absolute treasure—quiet, authentic, with that genuine Italian soul. It’s now my favorite place in the entire country. Coming here has pretty much eliminated any lingering urge to head back to France for a relaxing break. Of course I’ll still make my rounds through Rome, Tuscany, Piedmont, and Milan—those are eternal—but when I want real relaxation, exceptional food and wine, warm local people, and zero pretentiousness, this is where I’ll be.

The pool alone is worth the journey. You know how rare a proper pool is in Italy—most are glorified bathtubs. Here they have a real one, with good loungers, shade, and a bar that serves drinks at civilized prices, not the tourist extortion you often see. The bartender, Rino (pronounced “Reno”), is a proper character—great stories, a musician at heart, and just a cool, easygoing fellow. You’ll find yourself lingering there longer than planned.

The restaurant is excellent. I had the pleasure of being looked after by Valeria most evenings—an absolute gem of a woman: sharp, charming, attentive, and full of wonderful recommendations. She handled every request with grace. The manager (whose name escapes me for the moment) clearly takes real pride in the place; you can see it in the way he lights up when talking about the local wines. It’s that kind of personal touch that makes all the difference.

My room has been superb—honestly better than anything I’ve had in Italy outside of Rome, and substantially nicer than rooms I’ve paid over 5,000 euros a night for in Capri. It even outshines most of what I’ve experienced in France. One small pro tip, though: if you prefer it cooler than 26 Celsius (and most of us from Dubai or the States certainly do), tell the front desk right away. They seem to think 26 is perfectly comfortable. Still, it’s a minor note on an otherwise flawless experience.

The ladies at reception have been wonderfully friendly and accommodating, and the bellman—a sturdy, good-natured fellow—tries his best and does it with a smile. Everyone here just seems genuinely happy to have you.

I’m already plotting my return at the end of August to escape Dubai’s infernal heat. I could easily spend a full month at this exact property. So consider this my enthusiastic recommendation, old friend—but do keep it a little quiet. I’d hate for it to become impossible to get my favorite room again. (That room number, by the way, remains a closely guarded secret.)

The pool is amazing. The room we had was large and clean with a balcony. The spa facilities were wonderful. Breakfast choices were extensive.

The location is perfect near Serapo Beach and downtown . The facilities are clean and updated. The staff are friendly, accomodating, and I recognized several of them from last year. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Gaeta!

I really injoyed my stay at the hotel. Very friendly staff, nice and comfortable room, excellent location, and a good breakfast. I would be happy to stay there again.

The hotel is modern and the staff are very accommodating. It’s also right next to the beach.
If you are going out of season be aware lots of things are closed, especially the restaurants. They only open two days a week out of season. Don’t let this put you off though. It’s a beautiful location. We used it as a stop of between Napoli and Rome.

Great hotel! Beds are comfortable and clean. New mattress. Nice hotel. Great spa! Breakfast was amazing! Beach was 5 minute walk! Would definitely go back!

Big, modern hotel that is clean and comfortable. Great spa to relax in and very friendly staff. The breakfast selection was a little disappointing but that was minor. Overall excellent.

Reception staff upon arrival not very helpful but amazing location near the beach and town walking distance. Great swimming pool outside with amazing service and housekeeping services were excellent would definitely recommend
