Description

Colonna Beach Hotel Marinella is a 4-star hotel located on the island of Sardinia, built in 1970 and renovated in 2001. It comprises two low-rise buildings with a total of 86 rooms, including Standard Double rooms, rooms with partial sea views, and seafront rooms. The hotel offers a large outdoor pool surrounded by free umbrellas and sun loungers, a children’s pool, and a garden with a terrace. Guests have access to free Wi-Fi in public areas and free parking on site. The hotel provides a variety of services such as a restaurant with buffet options, a bar, snack bar, 24-hour front desk, car hire, and facilities for disabled guests. The beach is a public sandy beach 150 meters away on the first coastline, with umbrellas and loungers available for a fee. This hotel targets travelers seeking a calm family-oriented atmosphere rather than nightlife or extensive local amenities.

Location

Colonna Beach Hotel Marinella is situated about 4 km from the tourist area of Porto Rotondo and 11 km from Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport. The hotel sits approximately 150 meters from La Marinella public sandy beach. Nearby amenities are limited; the closest supermarket is roughly a 10-minute walk away. There is no nightlife or boulevard with restaurants directly adjacent to the hotel. Guests often need to use public transport or drive to reach dining and shopping options in Porto Rotondo or Olbia. A small beach club near the hotel hosts occasional music events until midnight.

Tips

  • Book breakfast in advance if you want to enjoy coffee early, as the bar opens only at 10:00 am and rooms do not provide coffee machines.

A nice calm hotel. Ideal for people who want to relax at the beach. A lot of Italians from the mainland are here for holidays.
I highly recommend to rent a car because there's is almost nothing near by like a boulevard with restaurants or shops, there is no nightlife, but a little beach club which is doing some party music until midnight. A single supermarket is about 10 minutes away from hotel. ATM in Marinella wasn't working, therefore I had to go to Olbia to have some cash. To have dinner in the evening or go for a stroll, you need to go by bus to Porto Rondo or take a train to Olbia, which is a bit inconvenient.

I am one of those people who loves to drink coffee in the morning. The bar doesn’t open until 10:00 and until then there is no way to have a drink and enjoy the morning as the rooms don’t have a coffee machine or a kettle. When I wanted to drink just coffee in the restaurant area, I was told that I had to book breakfast for 20€. It was also made clear that the coffee cannot be drunk in the lounge area but only in the closed room (even in the height of summer). If anyone would like to spend a holiday under military guidance, they are very welcome. I am very disappointed and will never come here again.

Pleasantly surprised after reading old reviews. Hotel is clean very efficiently run and employees very helpful
Big shout out to Ricardo head of food and bar and Greta and also Maria at reception big smile.

Breakfast is good value and the pool is great. The grounds are well groomed and only 200m from main beach - perfect for hiring paddle boards windsurf etc etc

Also a really charming railway station across the road which we used for a day trip . Cost €2.60 for 2 people awesome

10 min walk to super market some restaurants and lush ice cream shop.

Really enjoyed our stay in early Sept.

Old hotel, low level, dirty, old rooms, with shower where water accumulates, very low quality of breakfast, with little variety. Hotel that in no case is 4 stars, and less for the price it has. Only positive point beach.

During our stay a lady was robbed in the room.

lousy hotel

I'm sure that the photos on the site were taken some time ago. We had no salad in 9 days. The TV was in front of the dressing
Mirror. You had to choose your food for your meals from a listing of 4 choices. The bathtub had no water stopper to take a bath, you could only shower. You have to pay 3 euros for your towel, every time you changed them. Maybe once it was a 4 star, but know it's maybe a 3 or 3 half star.

The food was good, but with a limited selection. The TV goes in and out, except for the Italian channels. The staff was friendly
and helpful. They charge 25 euros for two chairs and a umbrella at their beachfront.
They gave you 1 euro off at the beach.

No entertainment or water aerobic provided.
No drink specials at the bar. No afternoon or evening events at all.

These are just a few things that I normally would get in a 4 star hotel that I stayed at before with my family.

I'm sure covid had something to due with the limited entertainment and the water aerobic,
but don't post it as a 4 star hotel when you can't provide a 4 star experience.

Also the beach was nice, but not deep enough to swim in, unless you're a child ,
then it's perfect. The areas around there are
nice,but not much to do.

Some bar's on the beach were expensive. 14 euros for a 750 mm. Bottle of water. Some were a little less expensive. You have to look around.

You're stuck there unless you have a car.

The hotel will say its my opinion, and there
right, but there not going to say if anything that I wrote was wrong. Maybe they might
say how they might change things in the future, but I don't think they will.

Good for a family with small children, not a party place or site seeing place.

Sincerely a Vacationer

My husband and I visited the hotel for our honeymoon in early September. The hotel is very quaint, right on the coast. Our room had a beautiful view and the beach is a short walk from the hotel. The beach is really nice, clean sand, picturesque harbor and numerous lunch options right on the water. The hotels location is also nice as it's close to a wide variety of towns to explore, but you do need a car to get to them (which we had). The island is just gorgeous, I can't say enough good things about it.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Most of them spoke enough English that we could communicate, which was very helpful. The breakfast every morning has a lot of options and kept us full for hours.

There were not many younger couples, which is not something we cared about, but if it is something that you want keep it in mind. The restaurant is a little overpriced for what you get, but we had planned on going out to restaurants every night anyways so it wasn't really an issue for us.

Overall, my husband would recommend the hotel and plan to return for a future anniversary!

The beaches are nice and the weather is also nice. It is very hard to get transport tho, and almost everyting is itallian

The beach and water Are very nice, plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas.
The Hotel has seen better times, should be urgently renovated.
Our impression: it is to be desired only Italian guests and preferred.
Knowledge of the language except Italian.
Food always cold, almost every day the same choice, carelessly done, except for a dessert buffet/ tables are rarely cleared, what attracted the wasps/ the "fancy-dressed" staff at the entrance to the Restaurant, which were the only guests in the way, and their function was questionable .
Reception staff were generally not competent (often repellent).
