Palazzo Talamo Hotel

This hotel is a scam. We booked this location as it was in close proximity to a wedding we were attending. The hotel chose to cancel us a couple weeks prior to arrival because they said we had an invalid credit card. It was completely untrue and I believe they cancelled us because they knew they could charge more to other tourists who were booking later than we did. It put us in an inconvenient position. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone. Avoid at all cost! It is a total rip off.

Very friendly staff and nice views however for a place that is essentially a bed and breakfast, they need to update the beds and breakfast. The beds are extremely hard and uncomfortable, the pillows are too thin, the bathroom door wouldn't close, the shower drain overflowed and the breakfast was quite average. A nice selection but the croissants and cakes tasted a bit old and dry whilst they had little to no hot food. I wish this place the best though and hopefully they remain successful after some small updates.

Then the bad review; strange story about our credit being refused for preauthorization (which seems to happen to many reviewers), no constant water temperature in the shower, ranges from very hot to very cold constantly, very noisy air conditioning, mattress as hard as a rock, can't put anything of your own in the fridge, breakfast is average, maximum 2 coffees at breakfast and don't even try to take anything away from the breakfast room like a piece of fruit or juice even to take it to your balcony.
Price wise, I guess this is the very low end of Positano and you get what you pay for. Overall not a great stay. Elsewhere on the Amalfi coast, no hotels made us feel like we were the lower end tourist. Overall not a great stay, the town is wonderful but our 3night stay spoiled a little the Positano beauty.
