Reviews
Thank you for the hospitality and ensuring I had vegan options for breakfast!
We booked a junior suite with an outdoor jacuzzi tub for a special occasion, but the tub was closed. The staff gave us different explanations, including that it was broken or closed for the winter, though reviews indicate it has been closed for years. The advertised hotel bar and outdoor patio/bar with a DJ were also closed during our entire stay. Although the hotel shows a Michelin-star restaurant, Marco Martini, in its photos, it’s not part of the hotel and is only open a few nights a week for dinner. The free breakfast was actually at a cafe down the street, where they escorted us to pick out a few items. Another advertised on-site restaurant, Mantis, was closed for 3 out of the 4 nights we stayed. Additionally, the air conditioning was controlled by the front desk and only started working on the second night after we complained.
The room’s condition was disappointing: a broken door handle, a broken toilet flush, leaking shower, loose electrical switches, water-damaged floors, stained furniture, moldy baseboards, and overall poor cleanliness. The bed had only a flat sheet and no duvet. When we asked for an extra blanket, they provided old, uncovered Ikea warming duvets.
We raised our concerns at check-in and were told to speak with the manager the next day. The manager explained that the issues were "just the character of Rome" and that we should give the hotel a chance. They offered a bottle of wine, but this did little to resolve the problems. After multiple complaints to Expedia and the hotel, we were eventually given a one-night refund on the final day. Despite the pleasant demeanor of the staff, it seemed like an attempt to prevent complaints without fixing the underlying problems. The hotel appeared almost empty, as we only saw one other couple during our stay.
The only positive aspect was that the bed was relatively comfortable, and the room was spacious for Rome. However, we would not stay here again. This is not a 4-star hotel, and it was definitely not worth the $600 CAD per night we paid.
It is a decent location for the Testaccio & Trastevere neighbourhoods, and about 10 min walk from the Colosseum. If you plan to walk more north to areas such as the Vatican or Villa Borghese/Spanish steps, I'd recommend trying to stay somewhere a little more central. The street is a bit busier than expected and the building shakes from the metro, so you may want to consider bringing ear plugs.
Cute rooms with great furnishings and nice amenities. I loved the iPad which controlled everything in the room and the TV tucked away in the mirror. Our balcony was the perfect place to enjoy some sun.
For a hotel in a city the room was spacious and had plenty of room to store luggage and get ready.
The location is perfect. Walking distance from all tourist attractions, close to multiple forms of public transit, and near very authentic local restaurants.
I have come to Rome several times and this was my favorite place by far. I will be staying here every time we come back!
1- AC issue: The hotel staff were not taking our concern into consideration as I have chosen the hotel based on providing the AC service. I got surprised that the AC was on the heat mode all the time and I had to call them every single time to make it on the cold mode. Our request was never served except for the first day even after contacting them via watsapp or try to reach them personally, though they have assured us on our arrival that the reception has 24 hours working time. The weather was very hot and the outside noise was unbearable. The stay was inconvenient for those who can’t handle the hot weather!.
2- Fridge issue: the fridge was not working at all and the beverages were very hot.
3- The room walls are not soundproof as I was able to hear all the staff noise early morning during their morning duty.
Was upgraded to a room with the solarium which made the room a greenhouse with no air and no windows that open. Was shown a fountain like tub on the private balcony which was full of green water. And the first day "free" mini bar included an already consumed bottle of juice...
No apologies offered though they didn't put up a fight when we decided to find another hotel several hours later when the a/c was "working slowly" they said. Didn't even offer to help or pay for our cab...
Hotel concept much more ambitious than it delivers from what I can tell.
Ps loves the tree with hanging mini cookies.
