Rifugio Zoia in Chiesa in Valmalenco

My partner and I spent a week at Rifugio Zoia, and we completely fell in love with the area. The natural surroundings are breathtakingly beautiful and so diverse — from vibrant meadows full of wildflowers to rugged rocks and majestic glaciers. Every hike we did was unique and awe-inspiring. I truly had the time of my life.

What made our stay even more special was the hospitality and warmth of the team at Rifugio. The staff were incredibly kind, helpful, and attentive. Every day, they gave us tailored hiking advice that matched exactly what we were looking for. We felt heard, understood, and truly cared for — as if we were staying with friends. Their English was excellent too, which made communication very easy.

We’re incredibly grateful for this experience and are already dreaming of coming back. Highly recommended for anyone who loves nature, mountains, and authentic, heartfelt hospitality.

We spent four unforgettable days hiking from Maloja to Poschiavo and chose Rifugio Zoia as our final stop — and what a fantastic decision that was!

Rifugio Zoia is far more than a typical mountain hut. It combines the charm of alpine hospitality with the comfort and quality of a well-run hotel. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the friendly team, who made us feel right at home.

The food was absolutely delicious — hearty, local, and clearly made with care. After days on the trail, it was the perfect way to recharge. The rooms were a very pleasant surprise: spotless, and having a private bathroom with a great shower, along with comfortable beds and clean linens, made a world of difference.

I wholeheartedly recommend Rifugio Zoia to anyone — whether you’re on a multi-day hike, looking for a peaceful base to explore the mountains, or simply in search of a relaxing getaway in nature. I will definitely be back!

We had an amazing experience with 7 friends in the Rifugio Zoia, spending 3 nights there for New Year’s Eve. The rooms, the food, wines, cocktails, the service and the prices were just perfect. The view on the mountains is incredible and the activities are really well organized.
It’s a great place where you feel at home and can relax while enjoying some hiking in the beautiful Valtellina mountains.

Absolutely stunning refugio and the most friendly staff. We stopped by Zoia on our hiking trip around Bernina and it did not disappoint! Incredible views, cozy vibes, delicious food, and the best hospitality! 10/10 would recommend.

The sauna and outdoor hydromassage jacuzzi at Rifugio Zoia were a blissful retreat after our mountain adventures, offering a relaxing way to unwind amidst the stunning scenery.

The culinary experience at Rifugio Zoia was a highlight of the retreat. The typical dishes served were a delightful showcase of local flavors, expertly prepared and bursting with freshness. Each meal at Rifugio Zoia was a delightful culinary journey, leaving us satisfied and eagerly anticipating the next delicious creation. The breakfast spread was equally impressive, with a variety of options to please every palate and energize us for a day of mountain exploration.

Easily accessible by car. Recently restored mountain refuge very, very nice. Great food in a typical valtellina. Staff is friendly.

Fine food, very friendly hosts, beautiful rooms, fantastic landscape, very good for Climbing, Biking, and Hiking

excellent food, prices a bit high. Spectacular as pizzoccheri and sciatt. very nice also the refuge, recently renovated. It lacks a little of the atmosphere from the shelter, it is much more of a hotel/restaurant of mountain

Great taroz and spectacular, panoramic views! Within 5 min of the trail from the parking lot of the refuge and Poschiavino. We have not stayed overnight, therefore I can not judge the rooms.

Beautiful dining room with large windows and breathtaking views of the pizzo scalino (recommend the room). Traditional cuisine is not too heavy and with portions do not overdo it. If you want the "sciatt", prenotateli before! Staff attentive and smiling. A good choice in the valley.
