Where to stay in Catania

We stayed a few days at Cantu Suite in Catania during our first ever visit to Sicily last week January 2025. I must say that we had a very comfortable stay at this particularly beautiful accomodation next to the famous Teatro Massimo Bellini and within walking distance to most of the nearby touristic attractions. Luigi and his team made sure I was well situated, and had an excellent restaurant recommendation for me on my single night in Catania. The property is well kept, and I was pleasantly surprized that it had a jacuzzi in the room as well. The location is fantastic, just steps from the Teatro Massimo Bellini, and a few more to the Duomo and other gems of the city.

The site, for a fun-loving young or middle-aged couple, is highly recommended. There is an atmosphere outside, it has a very cool balcony from where the bar downstairs gives you beers, a very large jacuzzi for one person, all great. From 10.

Ideally placed from train station, very clean and good for relaxation. Perfect for business travellers or a couple of days with loved ones ! Some excellent restaurants only a few score metres up the street !

Very good location, clean made every day. The noise outside is not so friendly,but it is not the owner of the hotel's fault. It is located in the center of the town, and until the beach there is a max 40 minutes walk. The bus from the airport has the station at the hotel. There are a lot of supermarkets in the area. There is also a very big local market every morning near the hotel.

The room is lovely and the location is central. There are 35 steps and no lift, so access would be difficult for anyone with a disability. Sleep is also difficult, because noisy youths gather outside the nearby McDonalds and the city street sweepers practice their craft outside your window from 4am .. round and round they go for an hour.

Very central location, small simple hotel, with spacious room is managed by very friendly staff able to give you all the information on how to get around and what to visit in Catania and the surrounding area. Modest but very welcoming hotel. Very clean rooms and very kind and helpful staff. Large room and bathroom. Excellent and central location. The only difficulty is the long and steep staircase to access it.

Our room was clean and tidy. Bed was comfy. We had refrigerator, TV, and a great wi-fi. The shower was beautiful with shower gels, shampoos and neat towels. I like quirky, bijou hotels. This one was perfect. It isn't hard to find on Google Maps, but it does hide behind a big, (to some perhaps uninviting) street door where you buzz for access. Walk down the passage and take the stairs to lift. The hotel is on the first and second floor of the building. Once through the door, you enter another world. 1 night stay, quick and easy We stayed here for the 1 night and arrived very late, check in was easy. For the price, it was what you expected. Decent size room but bathroom needs some work. Location was a bit sketchy however walkong distance to all main attractions.

Superb location for sightseeing a few minutes walk from Via Etna, actually street was a bit scruffy, though that’s a thing in Catania. Historic Center Very close to the historic center of Catania but still away from the noise.

Don't be fooled by appearances, not pretty on the outside but great on the inside. Rooms are big and clean, but be careful, one of the rooms only has the bathroom in the hallway, but that's ok since it's for single use. Great value for money! 25min walk to the beach and 5-10min from most tourist attractions in Catania. Super friendly hosts and big room. Shared but clean bathroom. Breakfast included in nightly rate with fruit, toast, bio marmelades/jams and delicious cream filled croissants. Hosts dont speak English so bring google translate or a phrase book :)

beautiful structure with classic furnishings, excellent and varied breakfast, strategic position to visit the city, very inconvenient parking and with restricted access but essential if you come by car because there is no space around and it is a circle of hell, kind and friendly, I recommend it

Stayed here with a group of friends. The building doesn’t say much on the outside, but once you are in, the rooms are really a work of art. Spacious, nicely decorated and fit for any needs. We received help with directions and advice on places to visit. Breakfast is enough to get you started, I would trade the ham to mortadella anytime 😀. Congrats!

Great location. 5 min on foot to the main square (piazza duomo). Friendly staff. Breakfast is not abundant but good. Room was large and the ceiling fresco gave the room a touch of elegance.

We arrived at about 3pm and searched for about 10 minutes to find our hotel. Luckily we spotted a small sign in front of a locked door. We needed to phone the owner for access. My boyfriend and I stayed here last week during our vacation, and it was wonderful. The Hosts are lovely people. The space is so unique, clean, and cozy. Also a wonderful location where you can walk 3-10 minutes to any bar, shop, or food shops. Will definitely be booking again during our next Sicily visit!

Beautiful historic apartment in the center of Catania furnished with care and love by Claudia who is a fantastic "hostess", as well as the artist who has decorated and created a world in every room. It seems furnished by Salvator Dalì, if Bunuel were alive he would gladly stay there. Claudia is a fantastic and always smiling host. The house is very close to via Etnea, the Bellini garden and everything beautiful there is to see in Catania. Highly recommended.

Cozy, lovely, very hospitality

Arrived here a little earlier than check-in off the sleeper train and was met by Jane who was fantastic. Allowed us to drop off bags and sort out some laundry (there is a handy laundrette across the road). Whilst we were gone she ensured our room was ready a little early so we could freshen up before exploring Catania. Whilst we were chatting, Jane even gave us great recommendations for local restaurants...

The staff was friendly, kind, and very accommodating. They took care of the little details and they helped make the stay feel safe and comfortable. The rooms were clean and the location is excellent but I recommend ear plugs at night so you get a sound sleep. Bed is very comfortable and sheets white and clean. I give 5 stars.

The environment around the b&b feels a bit shanty but nothing untoward has happened during our stay. The b&b is part of a complex. The hotel itself appeared to be refurbished recently but the complex on the whole is a bit run down. The service provided by Jane is top notched! Breakfast is ok but the breakfast room ran out of space quickly when there were many patrons.

Scanning passports is not permitted in the EU! Upon arrival, they wanted to scan the passport, which is prohibited under the European General Data Protection Regulation. Italian registration law does not require a photo! The landlord must, of course, check the passport, document the number and name, and the date of birth. There is no right to save the guest's photo, signature, height, eye color, etc...

The room was beautiful and the location was close to the center of town. There was inexpensive parking just up the street. Lots of places to eat nearby. The only negative is that it is located on a very busy street and the traffic at night was really loud and we found it very difficult to sleep.

We spent four nights in this lovely accommodation. The room was very nice, spacious with balcony. We appreciated the Italian breakfast that contains coffee, fruit juice and some bakery product that served in the rooftop terrace so we could enjoy the view that includes the snowy top of Etna vulcano. Our stay at Vincenzo was great! Nice, clean rooms, loved the peak window in shower, modern and smartly equiped room with the nice view from the balcony. The only good thing was the location. The carpet in the hallway was terrible and dirty, the room was nice but had old fixtures and the shower was full of limescale. Bad story.

The tariff is competitive, the landlady is nice, the location is good for the tourists. The downside is that our room was noisy at night with revellers' shouting and in the early morning for the preparation of setting up the open air stalls down the street. With the poor noise protection, not recommended for shallow sleepers. In the end, you get what you paid.

The room was fine, I can even say it was a bit spacious compared to other single rooms I had on my trip. It was the check in process that I had most difficulty with. The hotel is inside of a building. To get in, you need a key. There was no receptionist when I tried to check in (after 2 PM). This hotel met my needs exactly. I am a man traveling alone. I wanted to be near the center of town, the Piazza. I wanted a simple room that was clean and had a low price. The hotel was all of these. They did not have breakfast. The staff was helpful. My needs were limited, but this hotel turned out to be a perfect choice.

It’s a $1,000,000 view and location but a $50 room. Tiny and outdated.

The hotel is located at the center of major tourist attractions, restaurants and transportation. The furniture and fixtures are old but the hotel is very clean. No elevator or food available at the hotel. Great views from the room.
