We stayed at Baia di Capitano for 10 days and overall, it was a decent experience—but with a few caveats. 📍 Location The hotel is located a bit outside Cefalù, so having a car is definitely recommended. They offer a shuttle to the town, but it costs €10 per one-way trip, which adds up quickly. 🛏️ Rooms & Cleanliness Rooms are reasonably clean and maintained daily. Beds are made every day, and occasionally the cleaning is more thorough. Nothing fancy, but comfortable enough. 🏖️ Beach Access The hotel has a reserved beach area nearby with sunbeds and parasols. It’s quieter than Cefalù’s main beach, which was a big plus. However, evening entertainment at the hotel can go on until midnight, which may cause some noise depending on your room. 🍽️ Dining We ate at the hotel restaurant once. It was okay, but nothing memorable. There are far better dining options in the area. 🥪 Departure Disappointment On our last day, we asked for a simple goodie bag for the road—just something light since breakfast leftovers are common. The staff offered sandwiches, which we appreciated. But at checkout, we were charged €20 for two basic tomato-and-cheese sandwiches. We had already paid before receiving them due to time constraints, and honestly, airport food was cheaper and better. It felt like a disappointing end to an otherwise fine stay. 💬 Final Verdict A reasonable hotel with decent amenities and a quieter beach experience. But the lack of hospitality on departure left a sour taste. If you stay here, just be mindful of extra charges and consider dining elsewhere.

The hotel was in a beautiful location but not conveniently located to the Cefalù downtown. The shuttles they offer do not run during ‘off season,’ the children’s playground was not open/available, the food is very limited and the dinner quality was not what one would expect (especially for the price). Pia, the pool bar staffer, was exceptional. They single handedly made our kiddos stay!

We stayed at this hotel as part of a Newmarket tour for 3 nights. We were not given any information upon arrival about the hotel facilities or the timings for the tour the following day. The room was small but adequate and contained 2 x twins put together and a single which dominated the room. There was a small door of about 800mm with a side glass panel totalling about 1000mm in the far corner of the room with a very small balcony (2nd floor) which meant there was little light in the room. However the view of the sea was nice. The dining room was hot and clammy and we needed to ask for the air conditioning to be put on which they did. We had to go down to reception to ask for the key to the safe which was only big enough for a small wallet, nowhere near big enough to take even a small iPad. The power points weren’t all European but fortunately my friend had a universal adapter that we could use. There was no tea and coffee facilities in the room, no tea and coffee served after dinner or table water unless charged for, a 75ml glass of wine was 8Euros and a bottle was 35 Euros. There was no shop for several miles so we could not stock up on the first day with our own provisions. The hotel is small, the pool is more of a dipping pool than a swimming pool. The private beach is approached by very steep steps, not suitable for the less mobile, and very rocky under foot so not easily accessible. The staff were responsive and gave us a small kettle for the room, as well as a key for the safe, plus the TV remote which was kept at reception. There was very little information on hotel amenities and if I’m truly honest, this barely makes 3* and is more reminiscent of being on a school trip. My next review is with Newmarket and their total lack of presence at the start of this tour plus the misrepresentation of it in their brochure. I would not recommend this hotel as a 4*.

We actually came in June 2023 as part of a bus tour of sicily. This was our first hotel. We arrived and got to our rooms, and as we were part of a bus load we were told that dinner was at a set time and that unfortunately due to the numbers we could not choose our meal that night so it was a set meal. We all sat at the set up tables and started to chat to fellow ones on our bus and you could pay for drinks or just get water as part of the deal. We had been told the time of breakfast as each day we would have an early start. We were here for 3 nights and at the end of dinner before we left we had to choose from the menu for the next day of what we wanted for dinner and were told we needed to sit at the same place each evening to make it easier for the staff with the food. The rooms were simple and no air conditioning which made it quite hot. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful but none of our bus party were that impressed with the evening meals for quantity or choice. One night it there was rolled pork and spinach and that is exactly what you got a piece of rolled pork and a large portion of spinach, this was the main course. It is nowhere near anywhere like shops etc and as we were on a coach tour that meant no means of getting anything if you didnt like dinner or felt hungry so a lot were eating meals for lunch or buying snacks. The outside area was lovely with it gardens and bar and swimming pool and loungers and quite a small hotel, so apart from our bus load there were very few other guests.
