Eremo Della Giubiliana in Ragusa

Nice buildings, but our room was disappointing. It had 2 stories, but the bottom story was just a big open space with a card table in the middle, so useless. Getting to the bedroom and bath upstairs required climbing a long steep staircase. The A/C was freezing, despite changing the set temperature several times. The hot water kept giving out, making the shower painful. Our door had a “fun” medieval lock that we could never work, and the desk staff told us not to worry if the door stayed unlocked. The staff was universally friendly, especially at breakfast. The pool area needs to be spruced up, and the outdoor plastic furniture should be upgraded.

Whilst the building and all its furnishings are undoubtedly full of history, there are certain simple changes that could be made to improve the quality of the stay at Eremo Della Giubiliana. The mattress in our room was so hard, a simple fix which could make the comfort of the stay so much better. We ate at the restaurant one night, the setting is beautiful but the food was quite expensive for the quality. I do not think based on the ‘level of luxury’ this hotel is worthy of its 5* rating, the building is beautiful, what is delivered within it, could be (and should be) better.

Eremo Della Giubiliana is truly a special place. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the beauty, elegance, and tranquility of the property. The historic charm combined with exceptional comfort created a unique and unforgettable experience. The staff were warm, attentive, and professional, making us feel genuinely welcomed throughout our stay. The surroundings are breathtaking, the rooms are beautifully maintained, and every detail reflects quality and care. Whether relaxing on the grounds, enjoying the atmosphere, or simply taking in the stunning Sicilian setting, every moment felt magical. This was one of the most memorable stays we've ever had, and we would not hesitate to return. Highly recommended for anyone looking for luxury, authenticity, and outstanding hospitality.

We stayed with my family at Eremo in August 2026. The place is interesting because of its rich history. The location is tranquil and pristine. The rooms and suites are well appointed. Each room is different. The serenity of the place is unparalleled. The restaurant is excellent and the included breakfast delicious and abundant. They use only local and genuine products. The staff was the most cordial and professional that I have ever met. Overall our stay at Eremo was magical!

The dinner was surprisingly bad, even the pasta had no taste. 
Horrible price quality relation and unfortunately not really worthy for a 5 star hotel.

We just wrapped up an incredible 11-night stay at Eremo della Giubiliana in Ragusa, and it was perfect. We stayed in one of the cottages, which don’t get nearly enough attention or photos in most reviews. They were spacious, charming, and gave us the perfect private space with a toddler. The breakfast is seriously underrated—everyone raves about it, and for good reason. We also ate dinner at the on-site restaurant 3–4 times. The food was excellent, and they were happy to do takeaway for us, which was a lifesaver with a little one. We loved eating out on our cottage patio in the evenings. The hotel supplies bikes, which was one of the highlights. Riding around the old airstrip was magical. There’s so much history in Sicily that it often goes unnoticed, but this airfield was used during Operation Husky in WWII. If this were in Canada, it would be a protected landmark with plaques everywhere. Here, there’s just a small, understated sign. Staying at Eremo della Giubiliana truly felt like a blessing—quiet, authentic, and deeply special. The staff were elite. Special shout-out to the wonderful waiter Mirko (I believe that was his name) and our outstanding male housekeeper. While it’s not set up as a traditional long-stay hotel, Ragusa proved to be an excellent central base for exploring the eastern side of Sicily. We never had to drive more than a couple of hours to reach places like Taormina. We couldn’t recommend it enough. If you’re looking for a peaceful, character-filled retreat with outstanding service and a real sense of place, book this one.

A fascinating and highly authentic historical property with a unique atmosphere. The restoration has been done exceptionally well, preserving the character and history of the place. Ideal for guests interested in heritage, tranquility and a more secluded experience, with relatively few visitors. A few points could be mentioned: the pool is not heated, and the noticeable smell of cleaning agents in some areas slightly disturbed the otherwise special ambience. Overall, however, a memorable and very distinctive place to stay.

A beautiful rural location with gorgeous rooms and an excellent restaurant. We stayed here two nights while traveling through Sicily, and this was my favorite place due to the rural beauty and history of the area, the helpful staff, and their wonderful local food. It’s a short drive to Ragusa to see the sights, and is nice to return to the quiet, relaxing setting.

Great room with terace, excelent breakfast, private parking, excelent comodity in old monestery.
