Hotel Borgo Pantano in Syracuse

Our second stay at this pearl, this gem of a hotel, comes to an end. Often, when you return to a good hotel, the memories are often disappointed as reality rarely measures up. To come back to a great hotel? The risk of disappointment is huge. However, Giusy and her staff make sure their hotel delivers. With dedication, high quality and a love for what they do. Every guest is important. The grounds impeccable, the upkeep amazing and the food unparalleled. Their breakfast buffet is amongst the best I’ve ever had in all of my travels, freshly made every day: baked goods, savory and sweet along with all the usual things you’d expect. The lunch and dinner offers amazing discoveries of Sicilian and Italian cuisine. But what really gets me every day is the staff: from the reception to housekeeping, servers and Giusy: there’s a passion and love for what they do I’ve never seen anywhere else. Just today I witnessed a guest alerting them to a nail sticking up by the pool. Fifteen minutes later, maintenance was there to fix it. Trust me when I say that in any other hotel, it would’ve taken hours, if not days or weeks. Will we be back? You bet!

We stayed at Borgo Pantano Hotel for one week during Easter, and our experience was truly wonderful. The breakfast buffet was exceptional, offering a wide variety of local specialties and delicious sweet treats that made each morning special. The dinners at the restaurant were equally outstanding — every meal was of excellent quality and full of flavor. The hotel itself is surrounded by a beautiful, spacious garden with lovely pools, providing a perfect setting to relax and enjoy nature. What made our stay even more memorable was the staff: always friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful. A special mention goes to the owner, whose care and dedication to the guests created a warm, welcoming atmosphere that truly felt like home. We had a wonderful stay at Borgo Pantano hotel. The staff were professional, incredibly friendly, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Breakfast was outstanding—honestly a 12/10! The owner deserves a special mention: she was so kind and helpful. When she realized the room we had initially booked wasn’t ideal for our two small children because of the two-floor layout, she generously offered us her cottage instead. The cottage felt like something straight out of a fairytale—clearly designed for pure enjoyment. The hotel grounds are stunning, with a gorgeous garden, a lovely pool, and a great playground for kids. Everything is thoughtfully maintained and perfect for families. We truly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be coming back!

You are immediately made to feel welcome and they really get hospitality, which is clearly driven by the owner Giusi. She is like the proverbial Mr Ben, popping up at dinner, breakfast and even our departure wanting to make sure everything is just so. She takes such a pride in the resort and she even arranged a special dessert for my wife. Our room (on two levels) was very trendy with a jacuzzi bath and a very comfortable bed and roof terrace. The gardens are extensive and the pool would be at home in a much bigger hotel. Highly recommended.

What an amazing hotel! Lovely welcoming atmosphere from the whole staff. The hotel is incredibly well run by the owner Giusi. The rooms are beautiful and we LOVED the stunning gardens with their double beds, loungers and many more places to relax, either around the beautiful pool or far from it. Families are extremely well cared for, with an amazing breakfast, a beautiful playground, two pools including a heated one which our children stayed in for hours, and many more amenities. We certainly hope to come back soon!

(English below) Mancavo da due anni. L’ultima volta credevo di aver vissuto un’esperienza meravigliosa, e, si sa: dopo qualche tempo le cose rischiano di cambiare, quasi mai in positivo. Non qui. Il posto è riuscito a migliorarsi ulteriormente. La cura per i dettagli, il ricevimento, il ristorante, la colazione(!!!), tutto, dico TUTTO PERFETTO. Un luogo dove entri ed esci trasformato nello spirito, nel cuore. Questo posto ha qualcosa di magico. Magico come la dolcissima direttrice/proprietaria, Giusi, eccellente interprete dei desideri di viene ospitato. Borgo Pantano non è un luogo per una semplice vacanza, è un’oasi per l’anima. GRAZIE!!! English: I hadn’t been back for two years. The last time, I thought I had already experienced something wonderful — and, as we know, after some time things often change, rarely for the better. But not here. This place has managed to become even better. The attention to detail, the warm welcome, the restaurant, the breakfast (!!!) — everything, I mean EVERYTHING, is simply perfect. A place where you walk in and come out transformed — in spirit, in heart. There’s something truly magical about this place. Magical, just like the lovely owner and director, Giusi, who has an incredible gift for understanding what her guests need. Borgo Pantano isn’t just a holiday destination — it’s a sanctuary for the soul. THANK YOU!!!

Extremely pleasant and helpful staff. We had problems with the car hire and they went above and beyond to help. I am 80 years old and this is the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in. Fantastic food and service. Lovely room. Beautiful gardens, lit at night. Pool great but water cold! There is nothing negative to say about the hotel, other than it's about 8km from Syracuse and you need a car. Highly recommended.
