Podere Valborgina in Castiglione della Pescaia

Giacomo, the manager is very nice, the place is beautiful, but the rooms are dilapidated, dirty, nothing works, after a week they changed the sheets but we had to remake the bed ourselves.

We wanted to take advantage of a long weekend to visit the main Maremma beaches, so we spent 4 nights in one of the rooms at the Valborgina farmhouse. The farmhouse is located on a beautiful estate in the Maremma fields, surrounded by nature and tranquility. The complex is really impressive and certainly very relaxing. All this, moreover, with the center of Castiglione della Pescaia really only 5 minutes away by car.

Our room was in a more sacrificed area of ​​the complex, where the horse stables were then. We had the bare minimum available for a beach holiday: ok so for us, not particularly suitable for those who want to spend more than just hours of sleep. In addition to the bed, the bathroom, a closet with hangers (quite superfluous), a mini hob and a fridge are added. Outside, a table with two chairs in the garden shared with the other rooms of the structure.

Our stay was so-so. The cleanliness of the room was generally good, even if some less used corners - such as the bathroom window shelf - showed residual dirt and cobwebs.
The room tended to get very hot during the day, so on our return it was essential to use the air conditioner: without it it would have been unbearable, even at night.
An obvious problem was with the refrigerator, which stopped working on the second day. The owner immediately made herself available to come and take a look, but at times that were difficult to reconcile with our schedules: with only 4 days of vacation, we wouldn't have returned to the room at 3 pm "only" for the fridge. We were sorry to have to give it up completely and, above all, throw away the things stored inside.
Another sore point, the Wi-Fi network: unfortunately in our room it was very difficult to work, so in the few hours spent at home, access to the network was scarce, if any (none of our operators - neither Fastweb, nor Vodafone - had coverage). A flaw that is certainly forgivable, but the restaurants in the area cannot be discovered by themselves!

Ultimately, for the service offered, in our opinion the price is a bit high. However, if you need a comfortable foothold, it is to be taken into consideration.
