Excellent hotel! Highly recommend! Everything was great.
Clean hotel with open-air onsen. Breakfast with a great view of the autumn foliage, even spotted monkeys! Enjoyable relaxing stay. Lobby also has free drinking lounge, superb!! 👍🏼😊 Free shuttle service to Tobu-Nikko station.
The room was better than I expected. I heard it's a historic hotel, so it must have been renovated; it looked quite new. I stayed on the first floor, and the open-air bath was so beautiful—you could step right outside!
We used this as a simplified version of our honeymoon.
We were able to relax in a calm atmosphere.
We thought it was a little pricey since we were staying over a long weekend, but we were very satisfied with the quality of the hot spring water.
It was my first time using it and overall it was good, but a little old.
A nice hotel just by the lake. The onsen had a beautiful momiji tree and the view from the room was pretty good. We enjoyed our food and had a good rest overall.

Very good and friendly service from the hotel staff. Good hot spring bath with both internal bath and external open air bath. Excellent food for dinner and breakfast with many dishes. Wonderful view of the forest, mountains and river from my room.
Beautiful onsen. Every single person working there was really nice and helpful.
I booked this hotel through Trip.com and the pictures of the room I chose included a spa. I got to the hotel and although the room was big, japanese style, it didn't include the spa. The hotel was quite expensive and I was really hoping to relax in the spa. I complained in the reception, but the staff barely spoke English. I got really disappointed as one of the staff members started laughing at my...
The hot spring was just okay, pretty standard. Cleanliness was a major concern for me; the bed sheets felt quite grimy, possibly due to the high humidity. On the bright side, the location was excellent: attractions were within walking distance, and a bus stop right outside made sightseeing incredibly convenient. I might be overthinking it, but both the room I was assigned and the dining spot we were...
While we opted for a room-only plan this time, we would absolutely love to book a stay with breakfast and dinner included on our next visit. Despite it being a room-only booking, the location was superb, and our entire family had a truly wonderful time. Thank you very much.
4.5 stars! Property is older but extremely well maintained. The corner western/Japanese rooms are spacious with two western beds and tatami area, single japanese bath and shower area and separate toilet area, mini fridge, tv, sitting area overlooking the river and table with four chairs as well as a massage chair! Onsen area has both indoor and outdoor areas separate for men and women and a cold...

It's located very close to the Kinu Tateiwa Suspension Bridge.
I woke up just before 6am and when I opened the curtains, the morning sun bathed me in a truly divine view. When I opened the door, I was greeted by the sounds of the river flowing and the birds singing, which was very soothing. I took a walk across the suspension bridge and was greeted by Kinuta standing nearby. Another five minutes' walk...
The facilities are old but well-maintained. I thought it was interesting that you could reserve private baths and various entertainment options. Maybe the walls are thin, but I was surprised to hear conversations from outside or the next room. It's nice that the suspension bridge is just a short walk away. The view was amazing.
We stayed as a family of four.
We were able to use the hotel's facilities, such as the pool and table tennis, for free, and had a great time.
There were a lot of guests with children, so the shared areas and dining halls in the hotel were very lively, but our room was quiet and we enjoyed the view, so we were able to relax.
I think this is a hotel where people with and without children can relax.

The hotel was very comfortable and well-equipped with amenities such as a buffet, karaoke, and table tennis! It's a lovely hotel and affordable, so I'd love to come back!
The facilities were a little old, but the kids enjoyed playing there. The price is reasonable, so it's a good choice for a family trip with kids.
Honestly, given the low price that provides 2 meals and onsen experiences, I think it is quite good for value, but of course the building is very old and rather broken (although it is still usable). But then, it will take an hour to go to Nikko and the surrounding area isn't interesting to visit, just to stay in this hotel is not a very good option especially if you want to go hiking in Nikko.

Recommended the staff is very nice too🥰
The buffet has a wide variety of food, but it seems to be outsourced and pre-made. They've renovated the old facilities, but nothing is wasted and they're environmentally friendly. The water is lukewarm, so I recommend taking a long bath.
The food🍴 was great, the bath was okay,
but there was one unfortunate thing I forgot to mention to the front desk.
There was a large centipede in my room. I don't like killing things,
so I put some insect repellent outside the room.
The breakfast and dinner buffets had a wide variety of options, and the steaks, sashimi, salmon roe, etc. were of high quality and more luxurious than the price would suggest, which was very good.
The hot spring and hotel facilities were very old except for the front desk, and the water pressure in the hot spring showers was extremely weak.
Depending on the time of day, the temperature of the hot spring...
Good atmosphere, delicious food, and a relaxing hot spring.
I felt there were issues with cleaning the edges of the rooms, such as near windows and on the restaurant floor.

This hotel is special because everything is handmade. I love that local artists and craft is supported here and would live to see more of that around Japan.
We liked the hotel very much. It surely needs renovation in some areas, but you forget about this, because the hotel service is very good. The staff is very helful and welcoming, many free amenities are provided: yukata clothes for kids for all ages, socks for geta shoes, face sheet masks for ladies. Futons are very cosy, kaiseki dinner was worth it, but if your kids do not like Japanese style food...
I like the parking lot, it has a roof so it doesn't get snowed on. The food is delicious and of good quality.
A lovely hotel with a great onsen. Traditional Japanese breakfast was delicious! Not much going on around the hotel though restaurant-wise, it’s definitely easier coming with a car.
Very friendly staff and older hotel are very clean
A long-established hot spring hotel! Including breakfast and dinner, it’s really cost-effective! The food is super delicious, from sashimi to small pots! Strawberry wine for appetizer, hot tea and dessert after meal! The hot springs are also quite good. We are a family of four adults with children, and we had a very satisfying stay! It’s our first time visiting Nikko. The hotel is quite a distance from Nikko station so walking is not an option (take bus 2A/2C) and stop at stop number 11. Then, walk 5mins upslope to the hotel.
The friendly receptionist spoke basic english. There were 2 smoking booths at floor 3&4. The onsen(both indoor and outdoor) was a nice experience. As there were few guest, I had the whole onsen all to myself...
Traditional Japanese hot spring hotel, the door still uses a key, the room is spacious, the decoration is old-fashioned but clean, you can see the stream outside the window. The hotel has two hot springs, indoor and outdoor, both of which are very comfortable. When checking out, you need to pay 350 yen (I forgot the exact price) after the hot spring, which I personally think is negligible. The room...

We had a great time in Nikko. The hotel is clean, very refined, rooms are great and the sentō is just amazing!
To my surprise, many of the hotel staff spoke English, which greatly facilitated communication. Considering the price I paid, the service and food quality were excellent. Impeccable.
Great place to stay in Nikko in terms of comfort, service and location. Enjoyed our stay thoroughly.
Beautifully decorated place, very clean. Onsen with views. Only a few steps away from the bus stop so location isn't too bad either.
Amazing hotel next to the river. Big room, friendly staff, onsen, great location. We loved this place!
I've lost.my bag in the bus when I arrived at the hotel. I immediately seek the hotel staffs for help. They were very helpful and making calls to the places that I've may have left it. Train station, bus company.
Lastly, was very lucky to have found it back. Someone picked up and passed it to the bus driver.

Beautiful tasteful high ceiling public bath . Very relaxing when talking the bath while facing a large forest. The Japanese-style rooms are clean and the bedding is comfortable. The price is very reasonable.
Great value for money, and the room was spacious, which I really appreciated. All the necessary amenities were provided, so my stay was very comfortable. The large public bath was clean and satisfying, and I was pleasantly surprised that they offered a shuttle service to use the public bath at their sister hotel.
This place is perfect for family road trips, especially with the ample parking available. The rooms are spacious too, we had a great time!

The view was nice, but the staff couldn’t speak English. I understand that this is an old hotel. 😔
It was very cheap and had all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink options, but the time limit was tight, so we couldn't relax. However, since we already knew the time limit, if we had followed it, it was a very reasonable stay and I think it was a good hotel.
A very nice old-fashioned hotel. Although it's quite old, it's very well maintained. Located in Kinugawa, the area is also very beautiful. While the autumn leaves at Lake Chuzenji were mostly gone at this time of year, Kinugawa itself was still stunning.

The hotel is old and in poor repair. The guests are mostly Japanese retirees. The receptionists speak almost no English.
Frankly, the food at Ohruri is not to my taste, and it's old and I wouldn't even call it clean, but if you understand all of that and just want to go to the hot springs cheaply, I think it's worth it. Stayed 3 nights here. Great bath and convenient location it is close to the temple and shrine, right next to Shinkyo. Delicious breakfast and dinner. The rooms slightly old but staff very helpful

Nikko Hoshino Yado was, without a doubt, the most stunning chapter of our trip. It's much more than just a hotel; it's a living temple of Japanese aesthetics.

The Japanese-style room overlooking the valley was nice, and the open-air hot spring was great. If you're driving, I recommend visiting Nikko Toshogu Shrine and then staying overnight at Kinugawa Onsen.
I used to shop more than 20 years ago, but I can't compare with now.
First of all, the food portions are standard now, the quality is ordinary.
The biggest problem is that we haven't checked out and they want to clean up the room.
The service is also ordinary, a little better than Hong Kong, and young people should accept it.
But compared to before, there is a gap between heaven and earth
An old hot spring hotel with the famous staircase bridge right next door. The rooms are quite traditional Japanese style. The hot springs are divided into inside and outside. The outdoor area is relatively small but the view is great.
