We had the pleasure of staying at Nanaeyae for Christmas Eve. The service we received was impeccable - we felt at ease at all times and were treated as valued customers. The room was absolutely stunning, with a private onsun, stunning view of the landscape and comfortable bed. The dinner was absolutely delicious dinner and we felt so full afterwards. The public bath was also really comfortable with...
We enjoyed our stay at Nanaeyae during autumn. The staff were wonderful throughout and served us delicious meals. We also particularly enjoyed the onsen bath which was well-maintained and invigorating.
Nanaeyae went above and beyond my expectations, from the food, to the room and especially the hospitality from everyone we met there. I highly recommend ordering their in-house sake with the kaiseki dinner - it was absolutely delicious. Very thankful for the amazing stay.
Not so worth the price..view from room was good, location was good, but food not worth for what i paid for, dinner and breakfast served a bit normal, taste normal, when breakfast time i ask for a pack of seaweed(only 2 packs on table), the staff was very loud and replied me 'No No No'! Like I'm requesting addditional main dishes from them, I''m a bit shock this is just a small thing and didn't worth...
Overall good. Quite a number of non-Japanese receptionists and servers.
We had a lovely stay, experiencing aspects of Japanese culture - such as the food, Japanese room and the beautiful onsen. It was further away from the Nikko World Heritage Site than we realised when booking. However, we rather enjoyed the picturesque train ride there each day. The staff were very courteous and we were given gifts on our departure.

Massage chair, Oden and Drinks Bar is awesome!
I had intended to go for a day trip, but I got tired so I ended up staying overnight at the last minute. I booked this hotel on a whim, but it was a wonderful one. It's old, but that's what makes it so charming, and the bath, the welcome drink of draft beer, and the food were all fantastic, so I've vowed to definitely come back. Unexpectedly, I was able to see the fireworks from my room. The man with...
I got a little lost trying to find the place, but once I got there I had a comfortable stay. I was also very happy that it was close to Kinugawa Station, so I could do some shopping there.
The hotel environment is very good, the food is often rich, and the staff are friendly and service-oriented.
It was hard to find, so I had to search around for it. For dinner, we had crab, which was great, considering we're in a landlocked prefecture. The baths were also great, with daytime and nighttime baths. The room was a four-person room, I think, but we shared it with two people. We doubled up on the futons and it was very comfortable. For breakfast on the second day, we made our own original seafood...
Very good a hot spring hotel, first check in after free drinks, coffee juice beer, and snacks, the room is not big but enough, dinner buffet is very rich, there are long leg crab peony shrimp, hot food options are also many, wine is unlimited all-you-can-drink

This was my first all-inclusive experience, and after checking in at the front desk, I left my luggage in my room and went up to the first floor to enjoy sparkling wine, beer, and snacks. The hot springs* would have been even better if they'd brought some salt. The room felt a little old, but it was clean and well-maintained. The bath was just the right temperature, and although there was a sauna...
The location is great. We checked in around 2:30pm and were able to check in a little while later, but the lounge was so comfortable that we were able to spend a relaxing and luxurious time sipping beer and poached eggs while looking at the view. The food was served in small bowls, so it was easy to eat. I didn't like the fact that my room was on the parking lot side, but when I opened the window,...
The hotel staffs are friendly and nice. Free alcohol drink from check-in til 10.30pm! The hotel is in the remote area. It might take some time to get there. Overall is great! will visit again!
Considering the price, I felt the quality of the food was not up to par. The breakfast was well thought out and the ingredients were tasty, but dinner was lackluster. The Yonaki noodles at night were tasty, but I thought they were served as cheap Chinese noodles. I visited after the renovation and was curious, but I feel there is still room for improvement.
Truly a hidden gem. The staff were kind. I wish the dinner was a little more luxurious. The drinks are all-you-can-drink and the best.
We stay here for two night. Really enjoy and want to come back. - free bar from 7pm - 10:30 pm - breakfast is very short hour in the morning - have table tennis and dart

Very good and friendly service from the hotel staff. Good hot spring bath with both internal bath and external open air bath. Excellent food for dinner and breakfast with many dishes. Wonderful view of the forest, mountains and river from my room.
Beautiful onsen. Every single person working there was really nice and helpful.
I booked this hotel through Trip.com and the pictures of the room I chose included a spa. I got to the hotel and although the room was big, japanese style, it didn't include the spa. The hotel was quite expensive and I was really hoping to relax in the spa. I complained in the reception, but the staff barely spoke English. I got really disappointed as one of the staff members started laughing at my...
The hot spring was just okay, pretty standard. Cleanliness was a major concern for me; the bed sheets felt quite grimy, possibly due to the high humidity. On the bright side, the location was excellent: attractions were within walking distance, and a bus stop right outside made sightseeing incredibly convenient. I might be overthinking it, but both the room I was assigned and the dining spot we were...
While we opted for a room-only plan this time, we would absolutely love to book a stay with breakfast and dinner included on our next visit. Despite it being a room-only booking, the location was superb, and our entire family had a truly wonderful time. Thank you very much.
4.5 stars!  Property is older but extremely well maintained.  The corner western/Japanese rooms are spacious with two western beds and tatami area, single japanese bath and shower area and separate toilet area, mini fridge, tv, sitting area overlooking the river and table with four chairs as well as a massage chair!  Onsen area has both indoor and outdoor areas separate for men and women and a cold...

The only thing I missed in the room was tea bags. Otherwise, everything was great. The window opened, and there was a really good breakfast included, which wasn't even mentioned here on Trip. I'd happily come back!
The hotel is just walking distance from train station & bus terminal to take bus to places of interests. Small town - eating places aplenty. Family mart and Lion Dor is in the front and back of hotel. Breakfast is healthy and simple. Staff offer practical suggestion. Room is clean . Amenities provided . Change of towels can be offered by hanging a bag of new towels on the door . Not intrusive
Acceptable hotel for a short stay. Room was basic but functional. Check-in took a bit long but no major problems. Does what it needs to without much flair.
The hotel is very near Nikko station. The staff are friendly and very accomodating. The room is small, but for an overnight stay, the size was sufficient. Booking includes simple breakfast (or bread, coffee, boiled egg, salad) which is good enough. There is also a large supermarket near the hotel. You can also leave your luggage at the self-storage room of the hotel - very convenient. Our room also...
The location is great, really close to the train station. It took me three tries to find the big supermarket nearby. The free breakfast is simple, just bread, eggs, and salad. The air conditioning is a bit noisy, but other than that, everything else was fine.

The staff were all wonderful and I had a very comfortable stay. There were no sightseeing spots nearby and I was worried about how to kill time until my train, but they let me wait on a sofa in the hotel lounge, and since it was raining, they drove me to the station in their luxury car.
Great hotel and great staff. Very well maintained facilities and well curated breakfast and dinner. Great pickup and drop off service from and to the train station. Everyone at the hotel is very friendly and polite. Enjoyed our stay very much. We would visit again.
A Very comfortable stay with great staff
Fabulous service and food. Very comfortable, within easy reach to Nikko by car.
Kinugawa Kanaya Hotel is an incredible property with unparalleled Japanese hospitality. The stunning surroundings are matched by the dedication of the staff, especially Moeka, who was exceptionally personable and professional. Her service made my stay unforgettable. Highly recommend this gem to anyone visiting the area!
This amazing hotel is located in the heart of Kinugawa with views over the gorge and is a 15 minute drive to Nikko. It was one of my best hot spring resort experiences in Japan. Everything was perfect. Its hot spring quality was the best. I have enjoyed outdoor hot spring during a snowy early morning, which I couldn’t forget. It was so fascinating experience. Food was great and surroundings were also very beautiful. I would come back here again next summer or fall.
Website stated Dinner and breakfast will be provided But actually the hotel gave you Coupons to buy dinner box in their shop ! They should tell us the arrangement when we booked the hotel so that we could prepare our dinner before Check In ! Also , the hotel even Not provide Ciffre in the morning
A great stay near Nikko. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the hot spring was very relaxing after a day of sightseeing. The surrounding nature was beautiful and peaceful. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall a very pleasant experience and good value for money.
Decent and reasonably priced. They offered microwavable bento boxes since the restaurant was closed for the winter.
The hotel is quite new, and the room is very spacious. We enjoyed soaking in the hot springs at night and strolling along the Onsen street during the day. It's very close to the Yumoto Onsen Ski Resort, which was great as it was mostly locals skiing there. The only downside is that it's a bit far to get to; you have to take the bus and get off at stop number 45.
The place is next to the bus stop at No.45. In winter, there is no food service. You have to eat frozen food. Onsen is good.

Yutorelo Nikko, nestled by Lake Chuzenji in Okunikko, is a lakeside inn with hot springs. The rooms are spacious and clean, offering excellent value for money.
The room ambiance is great, and the lake view is beautiful. Breakfast and dinner are also quite good, not just for show. The service attitude is excellent. However, the hot spring water hasn't been particularly hot these past two days, though it definitely has that authentic natural hot spring smell. Personally, I'm also not a huge fan of having a sheet between me and the duvet... even though that...
The hotel's location is okay, but it lacks amenities. It's convenient for hiking, but not for visiting other attractions. After 6 PM, the entire street is deserted with no shops open. There are absolutely no convenience stores. Even the regular bus is quite expensive. One time, I missed the last bus and had to take a taxi from the city back to the hotel, which cost a whopping 8600 yen. Very expensive
The BEST hostel I ever stayed in! If you are staying in Lake Chuzenji in Nikko you got to stay here. It is a hostel within a hotel so it is very clean, safe and very big. The staff are very friendly and everything is amazing. They have a free onsen + a lounge with drinks, tea, wine, coffee, and ice cream bars that you could take! They have a microwave too if you need it and a hot water dispenser...
This was an interesting stay I was very obviously here in the absolute off season. The hotel is run in an interesting mix of can be cheap and can be high class. I didn't book with dinner included which is a mistake because during off season the surroundings were somewhat lacking no Konbini. The hotel offered microwaved food a bit pricily for the people who hadn't ordered the high class dinner option...
Great value for money (what more could you ask for? LOL), unbeatable views, and a large public bath. Breakfast and dinner are mainly Western-style, perfect for introverts looking to relax. It's a bit of a walk from Chuzenji Onsen Station, about 10-15 minutes if you're pulling luggage. Chuzenji Post Office is a bit closer. Perhaps because it's winter, all the shops nearby were closed, so it's best to...

Recommended the staff is very nice too🥰
The buffet has a wide variety of food, but it seems to be outsourced and pre-made. They've renovated the old facilities, but nothing is wasted and they're environmentally friendly. The water is lukewarm, so I recommend taking a long bath.
The food🍴 was great, the bath was okay, but there was one unfortunate thing I forgot to mention to the front desk. There was a large centipede in my room. I don't like killing things, so I put some insect repellent outside the room.
The breakfast and dinner buffets had a wide variety of options, and the steaks, sashimi, salmon roe, etc. were of high quality and more luxurious than the price would suggest, which was very good. The hot spring and hotel facilities were very old except for the front desk, and the water pressure in the hot spring showers was extremely weak. Depending on the time of day, the temperature of the hot spring...

Cleanliness: Japanese hygiene is reliable. Environment: Very nice. Service: First-class. Amenities: All the necessary amenities. Dinner and breakfast are buffets, as are drinks and alcohol, which I found delicious. The hot springs are also good.
While travelers from English-speaking countries often head to places like Atami or Hakone, I highly recommend staying at Ichiryukaku Honkan in Kawaji Onsen at least once. It offers high-quality hot springs at a fraction of the price compared to Atami or Hakone. Though simple, there's a welcome drink service. I stayed here for two nights from 2025.02.16. I went by train, but they came to pick me up at the nearest Kawaji Yumoto Station. They also dropped me off at the same time as the train departed. It was very cheap and had all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink options, but the time limit was tight, so we couldn't relax. However, since we already knew the time limit, if we had followed it, it was a very reasonable stay and I think it was a good hotel.
A very nice old-fashioned hotel. Although it's quite old, it's very well maintained. Located in Kinugawa, the area is also very beautiful. The hotel is old and in poor repair. The guests are mostly Japanese retirees. The receptionists speak almost no English.
Frankly, the food at Ohruri is not to my taste, and it's old and I wouldn't even call it clean, but if you understand all of that and just want to go to the hot springs cheaply, I think it's worth it. we really enjoyed the breakfast - a must have here. cute garden and the location is perfect, close to the temple.
Nikko Hoshino Yado was, without a doubt, the most stunning chapter of our trip. It's much more than just a hotel; it's a living temple of Japanese aesthetics. The beauty of its garden is comparable to the renowned Ruriko-in – the same interplay of light and shadow, the same myriad shades of autumn leaves, but with an added sense of private immersion. This is a traditional Japanese inn—very clean, with diligent and responsible staff, and incredibly generous meals. The only minor downsides are that coffee service in the morning starts a bit late, and the building itself is somewhat dated.
The staff were friendly and very helpful throughout our stay and made every effort to accommodate our needs. We really enjoyed the food, it was excellent as were all the catering staff.
Great stay at this traditional Japanese hotel! Property is older but clean and kept in good condition. Staff is excellent. They go out of their way to make sure you’re taken care of during your stay such as booking your shuttle each morning for drop off / pick-up from town, breakfast and dinner times. Meals are traditional Japanese
The location is about a 10-minute drive from the station, and a shuttle service is available. The hot spring water is of good quality; however, due to the limited number of rooms, the number of people bathing in the hot spring is usually only in the single digits. The food is plentiful, and the service is attentive. If I visit Nikko again, I would stay here again.
We were glad to stay at Nikko Toshogu Koyoen. Firstly, the service was pleasant and warm-hearted. Our Japanese-style room reservation (dinner + breakfast) was comprised of Kaiseki dinner either! Overall it was good but the water pressure in the shower was poor
The customer service was very good. However, the shower in the room was unusable. Also, the toilet wouldn't flush if the water was running somewhere in the room.
This was my first time using this hotel. I was a bit worried because the exterior looked old, but the interior had been renovated and was clean, with the atmosphere of a resort hotel. There was an open-air hot spring bath on the balcony, which I enjoyed.

Breakfast and dinner are very rich. The staff are very friendly. Remember to book a bus at the hotel.
