It was a truly unique and atmospheric experience! I loved that they met us right at the train station — such a warm welcome. There’s a whole wardrobe of yukatas to choose from, which makes the stay even more fun. The dinner was wonderful and very atmospheric, and the private onsens inside were just perfect. The staff were all so kind and welcoming. Highly recommend!
Other than the peculiar old smell, I had a good stay without any inconvenience. It is a place with friendly staff and delicious food. I would 100% visit again. The four free private baths in the guesthouse were also very nice. I arrived a little early, but it would have been best if I could have checked in early.
Would recommend to everyone! Great onsen and perfect service. Will be back again!
It was a wonderful experience! Everything was clean, a wide range of yukata for women and beer/cola compliment for men. Some staff people speak English, everything was so convenient. Kaiseki dinner was marvellous, we are still processing it)) It was a pleasure!
There are 3 private hot springs, the cutest is the duck with 100 that one, so that outside there is a free package to the outside male elephant bath, dinner and breakfast is quite good, very rich. One thing to share is the wrong number of people, we were originally a family of three large and one small 2 years old, but the mistake of four male surnamed adults made our meal fee increase more yen 17...
The hotel is an old house but the rooms are quite big and clean. The food for one night and two meals is okay, and if it is a more expensive hotel, the food will be more exquisite. The hotel is right next to a public bath and has 4 private baths, which is quite convenient. You can walk to the station, but the hotel has a bus pick-up. Overall, I think it is good value for money and exceeds my expectations...

The facility and Trip.com were very accommodating when we changed our schedule. We were given a welcome drink, and we were able to take it back to our room. My mother was also very satisfied with the food, and it was a very satisfying trip. Thank you very much.
I stayed in a twin room on the third floor facing the ocean on October 8th. The room was spacious enough, and the two high-back chairs were very comfortable. It was my first time to experience a table that doubled as an air purifier. To get to the hot spring bath on the first floor, you take the elevator dedicated to the hot spring. Meals were served in the restaurant on the first floor. Dinner was...
The facilities are nice, but as expected, they are typical of a vacation village, and there's no sense of luxury. However, the location is excellent, and the ocean can be viewed from the lobby, rooms, and baths, which is very pleasant. Meals are served buffet-style in the dining room, and there's always people walking around, making it difficult to relax and enjoy your meal. The breakfast buffet menu...
Located on a small hill, the view of the coast from our room was spectacular, allowing us to relax and forget our daily fatigue. The view from the large public bath was even more spectacular. While the open-air bath wasn't particularly large, the spaciousness and the view of the coast beyond the trees were truly soothing. Since we stayed in November, when the Matsuba crab season begins, we splurged...
I stay here twice a year, and I get bitten by mites almost every time. The food, location, and service are all good, but it bothers me. This time, I was bitten in over 30 places, including my hands and stomach. (The sheets and duvet covers are well-starched and look clean, though.) I recommend bringing sheets and towels from home. Maybe they haven't dried their futons in the sun since they opened.
I used the "live squid dance" course. First of all, I think that people with bad legs should check in early. The parking lot in front of the building will be full soon, and you will have to use the stairs from the first parking lot. The Japanese-style room is large and it is hard to say that it is beautiful, but the view from the room is very good. In addition to free WiFi, there are cables that can...

This stay was utterly incredible. Attentive, kind and helpful staff who were so supportive with language barrier, they even had staff who spoke English explain food and give us print outs which was so gratefully received and truly made a huge difference to our stay. Thank you Keita! The gardens were peaceful, the room was traditional and a completely peaceful retreat. There is a personal bath included...
Exceeded expectations! This small, exquisite hotel features traditional Japanese-style rooms, and the private onsen is excellent. You can also book a private onsen for exclusive use. The included breakfast and dinner were delicious! We enjoyed Tajima beef every night! The only downside is that the restaurant's service quality could be improved; it doesn't quite match the Michelin-level food.
What a fantastic ryokan! We spent a long time choosing where to stay in Kinosaki – my husband and I both have a lot of large tattoos, so Kinosaki was the perfect onsen village option for us, as all the onsens here are tattoo-friendly, even if you have very large and numerous tattoos. In the end, we decided to stay at Yuraku and were absolutely delighted! The hotel is located a short distance from the...
This is a fantastic place, a complete immersion into Japanese culture. I definitely recommend visiting.
Great hotel within walking distance to public onsen. The hotel also has its own small onsen, which can be booked at the guests' request for a room for 45 minutes. The water in the springs is very hot 😅 We had a Japanese-style room. We slept on futons, and this is the best experience and best sleep of the entire trip. In the lobby, both during the day and at night, you can contemplate the garden and...

Very good location, delicious seafoodn& crab.. nice hospitality.. love this hotel
Amazing. A pleasant, neat ryokan, very conveniently located. The dinner and breakfast were outstanding. We stayed in a traditional room and I was pleasantly surprised to find that I really enjoyed sleeping on a futon. There's a private onsen, but we didn't get a chance to visit it. We recommend both Kinosaki and this ryokan :)
This was my first experience staying in a Japanese ryokan, and it was truly special. This time, my friends and I rented four rooms, located on the 3rd and 4th floors. Unfortunately, only one room faced the small river; the others overlooked an alley. Paying HKD 3,000 for a room with no view for one night felt quite expensive! The food was decent, and the staff at the ryokan were very welcoming. However...
We had an unforgettable stay at Matsuya in Kinosaki. From start to finish, everything was exceptional. The service was truly some of the best I’ve ever experienced—warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful. A special shoutout to Cho, a new team member from Vietnam who is studying Japanese. She was incredibly kind and made our stay even more memorable. Our room was spotless, beautifully appointed,...
Matsuya is very quiet and very "Japanese style" authentic hotel to stay! They operate the hotel very traditionally which is great for me - love to experience the indifference. And the meals are the superstar!!! You will never be disappointed with the quality and quantity of the food they provide! Big Big thumbs up to the chefs!!! And finally weird enough to say,the hot spring they have in the hotel...

The room was clean, but there was a bit of a peculiar smell, perhaps because there was dust between the air conditioners or because the building was old. Visit in May 2025. This large spa town, easily accessible by train, is a must-see. Several onsen (hot springs) are scattered throughout the town, which you visit sequentially using a pass provided by the Ryokan (traditional ryokan). Note: everyone wears traditional clothing provided by the Ryokan when walking in the streets and going to the baths. The rooms are spacious and quiet, with toilets, and...
Tsutaya Ryokan is a beautiful old building with a calming atmosphere that evokes nostalgia. Mr. Nakai was very friendly and attentive. It was a wonderful time spent at the tsutaya ryokan! The staff was very polite and friendly, they helped us with everything on our first trip to Japan. This was a very kind and hospitable inn. I used a discount coupon for the plan that included breakfast. The breakfast was sumptuous. For dinner, the sukiyaki meat was delicious. I love Tenboyuan so much. The room is super large and comfortable. I recommend the one-night stay with two meals. It's a good stay and the food is delicious. I love Mana and all the reception staff. They are kind, polite and cute.
A really nice place for a night. Price was reasonable. Staff was helpful and the onsens were great. We had dinner and breakfast. Dinner was great but breakfast was ‘sukiyaki’ which is usually a dinner dish which was too heavy and smelled really strong. Staff may not speak English…
It's really great. The service, food and rooms are very cost-effective. The Japanese service is meticulous and it has thought of everything you can think of. The kaiseki cuisine is also quite ceremonial. This is not the most expensive hotel I have stayed in in Japan, but it is definitely the most satisfactory one.

I chose to stay here for convenience when going to Ankoku-ji Temple. The hotel facilities weren't new, but they were very clean, and the onsen (hot spring bath) was very comfortable. It is attached to a day-trip hot spring facility and is open until 9pm with day-trippers. If you choose the right time, it wasn't too crowded even on the weekends, so you can take your time in the hot spring. After 9pm, only overnight guests can bathe. The alkaline hot spring water was very viscous. We could see the double cherry blossoms from the open-air bath, which was a blissful experience. The...
I thought the name was from the Silk Road (old commerce) but now I think it was because the onsen was really, really 'silk'-like onsen, glides off your arm, so silky! The lobby was nice, with vaulted ceiling and windows with bright sunlight. We were there later in the evening...
Impression of premium twin accommodation with half board. It's true that the hot springs didn't irritate my skin, but it was highly praised by word of mouth, so maybe my expectations were too high. I arrived on my motorcycle in the rain. I was grateful for the landlady's thoughtfulness from the moment I arrived. After taking a bath, I relaxed in my room while waiting for dinner. This inn was absolutely fantastic in every way – the proprietress's personality, the service, and the food. The rice was especially delicious; we ate every last drop in the rice cooker! 😅 The shabu-shabu meat and vegetables were also superb. Such an amazing stay. The highlight of my trip to Japan. The Japanese style room was very spacious and comfy. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Location was perfect and breakfast was delicious!
I stayed here for two nights and had such a warm, friendly experience. The breakfast was great and they even accommodated my vegetarian needs. You have the option to rent bicycles at the same front desk you check in at which was also super convenient.
We stayed 2 nights half boards at Koyado Enn. This is beyond awesome experience in terms of location (very close to JR station), wonderful services with doable English communication + scrumptious breakfast and dinner. Oh forgot to mention its happy hour drink in the afternoon which we enjoyed after public onsens hopping; we had sparkling plum wine and hot/cold sake! Thank you, Koyado Enn!
The hotel staff was an absolute joy and helped me with any issues I had. Extremely welcoming and very nice. There was a trainee named Nguyen Thi Dung who helped me a lot and really made me feel welcome. The private baths were sublime and the food service was some of the best I have had personally. Hence, we were woke up around 5.30am by staff footsteps above, setting up the breakfast. Wall is very thin. We were unwell after eating the dinner sashimi that night. We chose the last dinner slot at 6.30pm. Both had diarrhoea, vomit and fever.

A great onsen ryokan, I'll definitely stay here again next time. Excellent value for money.
General impression: This is a super decent house with an excellent view of the kinosaki village. You could feel the management put lots of efforts to maintain the best comfort of every guest and the whole team operated under warm & effective process. While we are having breakfast or dinner in the dining area, their staff make a very efficient turn to change our yukata, towels, bottles of water, making...
This was my first visit, and I was absolutely captivated by the unfamiliar scenery and the charming, old-fashioned streets. The staff at the inn were incredibly attentive, always making sure I felt comfortable and well-guided. Hearing 'itteらっしゃいませ' (have a good trip/day) when leaving was a lovely touch. It's a place I'd definitely want to return to.
The room was beautiful and the food was delicious. I'm just sad that there was no snow during my visit. If there had been snow, I'm sure it would have been 100 times more stunning!
Beautiful ryokan with amazing service! Great and convenient location to all onsen. We booked with dinner and breakfast and it’s so delicious and fuss free, allowing us to just explore the onsen anytime outside meal time and just return for food.
By far the best hotel/resort experience I ever encountered. Not only did we travel with a family of 5 but we had 10 luggage’s in total which they helped to organise and deliver to our room even though it was really heavy. Accommodated to everything that we need and asked and super welcoming. The small details that they would do have imprinted in my memories for life e.g remembering which shoes we had...

Our room was very clean and beautiful, with a nice view from the balcony looking out to the street. Ryokan is located further away from the central area so it takes some walking to get to other onsens, but Kinosaki is a walkable area and the views are beautiful so it is an enjoyable walk. Service was welcoming although it was tinged with a little.. I don't know how to describe it except for condescension...
We loved our two-night stay at Tsuchiya Ryokan. It’s a beautifully maintained, spotless ryokan owned and run by a family. Unlike many traditional ryokans we stayed at, this one feels more modern and stylish. Everyone speaks English, and there’s an option to book rooms with Western beds instead of tatami. We chose tatami and were very happy with it. Breakfast was simple and Western-style, which we...
Tsuchiya Ryokan is a family owned - operated ryokan. We stayed for one night and we have a great time there. The Owner greeted us and explain us how to use kimono set. I never actually realize how important family operated ryokan. We been to few osen towns in Japan, this i would say one of the most pleasant stay - service that we get. The location might be a little bit far from station, but you got...
We stayed for 3 nights and, having experienced everything the town has to offer, would strongly recommend planning 2-3 nights as well. There’s far more to enjoy than you might expect—from exploring all seven public hot springs in town (each with its unique character), to local shops, scenic walks, the ropeway, creek-side strolls, and memorable cuisine. The hospitality extended by Kazuki and his mother...
Absolutely beautiful — clean, peaceful, and surrounded by an incredibly charming onsen village. But what really made our stay special was the people. The staff were exceptionally professional and attentive; they took care of us in every possible way. The food was outstanding — truly a 10 out of 10 — and they even offered to pick us up and drive us back to the train station without us ever asking....
A family run business, all the staff members were very friendly and helpful. They went the extra mile to make sure we were taken care of and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The rooms were very comfortable and clean and the in-house dinner was exceptional.
