Where to stay in Beppu

The hotel room was very spacious with a great location and sea views. There were many dining options nearby, and the service was excellent. The bathhouse was comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious. The cleanliness was also top-notch. I had a really good night's sleep on the floor in the Japanese-style room.

Nice hotel. Although a bit old, it is very clean and well-maintained, with all the necessary facilities. The onsen was fantastic—great temperature, nice room, and very convenient to enjoy. The hotel is in a very good location, close to the bus station, JR station and several large shopping malls. I booked a single room, but the clerk said it was full that day so I upgraded it to a double room for free. The room was a bit old, but spacious and clean without any odor. The only drawback was that the check-in time was too late (15:00~), and even if you check in a little earlier, you still need to pay extra.

It is right next to Beppu station, the onsen is overnight though I have not try but at least they provide, no check out procedures, free breakfast, password instead of room key and free drink is super convenient. The room with Seaview and spacious with a sofa bed is out of expectation. Everything is perfect at this price.

This hotel deserves a great review! It's very affordable, and the location is fantastic – just a 5-minute walk from Beppu Station, making it super convenient to get anywhere. They offer a self-service breakfast and even have a complimentary happy hour in the evening where you can use the restaurant and enjoy drinks. Everything was perfect, except for the small room size.

While the building and rooms are recognisable a bit older it is well kept and clean. The staff is absolutely top notch and the food was very tasty and of good quality. This was the only place in Beppu I could find that had hot springs and let solo travelers book a room for my timeframe. Would come again! Nothing but good things to say about the hotel, it is one of the best stays I´ve had anywhere and a hotel with excellent value. The hotsprings were excellent with ocean and mountain views, and food was above and beyond our expectation. The hotel tatamis were comfortable and the staff were highly professional. This Japanese-style hotel offers amazing value for money, especially with its beautiful sea views. It was a very pleasant inn. The view from the entrance was great, and although I had a room facing the mountains, I could see the view from the entrance whenever I wanted. The hotel is located halfway up the mountain, so it's more convenient if you're driving. Having a private onsen in your room is awesome! But the hotel itself is in dire need of renovation. The floors in the room are scuffed. The wallpaper in the hallway is peeling. And the shower glass is caked with film. This can definitely be cleaned, but alas. Breakfast and dinner are delicious, but very long. Dinner lasts about two hours, with very long breaks between courses.

Unfortunately the room was super moldy and it was ruining the experience. We stayed there for two days. The first day, the dinner was delicious and so was the breakfast but the second day, the food was not as great and the breakfast was served as a Western style, was much less in portion compared to the first day. It was still nice to have Onsen in your room. But it comes with a price.

I spent two nights near Beppu Station and one night at Okamotyoya Ryokan. It is a bit of a distance from Beppu Station. While the facilities are a bit dated, it seems to be well-maintained, and the service is even friendlier compared to the hot spring hotels near Beppu Station (which are also very friendly).

Pretty good ryokan near Beppu where you can try onsen steamed food for dinner. The onsen is spacious and has a strong egg smell which takes a few weeks to wash out of your clothing. There are relatively few guests in the ryokan (more seem to visit for day use of the onsen). The staff are mainly from the nearby universities and can speak english well.

Nicely located hotel with free Onsen. The rooms are fairly old and mine was once a smoker friendly room, which explains the slight smell of cigarettes and the yellowish walls. It is great that the hotel is located directly in front of the main station, but be aware of outside noise. I still slept like a stone so for the price I can recommend it.
