Reviews
From the moment you arrive at Kaga Onsen Station, you'll feel the hotel's attentiveness—staff are waiting on time with signs, proactively taking your luggage; the shuttle bus is clean and comfortable; and even in the short journey, gentle Japanese and smiles convey the warmth of "Omotenashi" (Japanese hospitality).
Japanese Breakfast: A Morning Ritual to Awaken Your Taste Buds
Breakfast is enjoyed in a traditional Japanese restaurant, with long wooden tables and low stools, sunlight filtering through the shoji doors onto the plates. The main course is freshly grilled salt-grilled mackerel, its skin crispy and the flesh tender, served with hot miso soup and brown rice—instantly warming the stomach; the tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelet) is soft and fluffy like a cloud, with a subtle bonito flavor; and there are three or four kinds of pickled side dishes, perfectly balanced in sourness and saltiness to cut through the richness. What impressed me most was that the staff would kneel (not obsequious, but a traditional Japanese courtesy) and gently ask if we needed more rice or soup. When refilling tea, the spout was never pointed at the guests; every gesture conveyed respect for the food and the guests.
Kaiseki Dinner: A Taste of the Four Seasons
Dinner was a feast for both the eyes and the palate. The appetizer was seasonal bamboo shoots with sea urchin tofu, served in rustic ceramic bowls. The sweetness of the bamboo shoots and the creaminess of the sea urchin blended perfectly on the tongue. The sashimi was served in an ice-carved boat; the tuna belly was evenly marbled with fat, and the sweet shrimp carried the fresh sweetness of the sea. The main course, grilled Wagyu beef with sansho pepper, was so tender it melted in the mouth, and the sansho pepper's aroma cut through the richness.
Warmth in the Details: Service Memories That Exceed Expectations
As we left, the owner and staff bowed and saw us off to the shuttle bus. From the punctuality of the station pick-up and drop-off to the thoughtful service during our meal, and the subtle attention to our preferences, this hotel made us realize that truly good service is not about standardized procedures, but about making you feel genuinely cared for in a foreign land—like the hot spring water of Kaga, seemingly calm, yet always able to warm your heart in the details.
Not only the hostess, but also the staff are very friendly.
The food is also the best.
If you want to feel the Japanese atmosphere, I highly recommend it.
