I only have one slightly negative thing and its just a bit of a Larry David moment… at dinner I ordered a coke and it came in an average size glass filled with ive and when checking out was charged the equivalent of 2£ for it

We wanted an authentic Japanese experience during our first trip to Japan and found Yamashiro Onsen, Miyabi no Yado. From the moment of collection at the station the staff go out of their way to make you feel special

We were the only westerners during our stay which we loved. Yakutas, informal kimono are provided for wearing around the hotel and almost everyone wears one

We didn’t opt for the traditional Japanese style room as was out of our budget but our ‘western’ room was huge, clean, well equipped and even had traditional yakuta for us to wear to dinner and we did! Dinner was beyond OISHI! I dont even know half of what we ate but the beef, which we grilled ourselves, and veggies and various raw fish served was unbelievably delicious

The gardens are quite beautiful and we highly recommend spending a night or two here to relax. We did not explore the surrounding area or use the onsen as we have tattoos and did not have tattoo covers with us

The vast majority only speak Japanese - as we are in Japan we had no issue with that and do not expect English to be spoken when we travel. That said check in was carried out in perfect English

Free bus shuttle, excellent meals! Like what another reviewer said, the meal was an adventure. Room is huge although we opt for bed during our booking, it turned out to be futon but it was still great

Excellent onsen hotel in quiet yet popular location. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Taiku drums nightly show was fun and great draw for families with kids

We stayed on a very busy weekend and hotel’s breakfast and dinner were fully booked. NTL the hotels casual restaurant was very good, menu and price wise; also excellent location to see the drum show

When we checked in at 3 o'clock, a waiter in kimono guided us to the door of the room, which was very considerate. After taking a bath, we had dinner on the 2nd floor of the hotel as scheduled

This Japanese-style hot spring hotel has complete facilities and the lobby is decorated in a very luxurious style. We arrived early and enjoyed the free afternoon tea and foot bath first

Dinner is a standard Kaiseki cuisine, which is very sumptuous. Each family has its own private dining space and is equipped with a dedicated person to serve throughout the meal

It’s in the middle of nowhere. Though it has been expected, but when we arrived, it is indeed Not near anything. The hotel provides shuttle service from the Kaga Onsen station.

The room is large and the hotel environment is very comfortable. There is also a fireworks show at night, which can be watched from a short distance. happy.

If I had to say one thing, I felt that it was still a rural area because only 1000 yen notes were accepted when buying drinks from the vending machine

The large public bath was open from 6:00 in the morning, and there were no problems with calling and paying for a taxi to the airport

The hot spring area on the 2nd floor also has free popsicles and very inexpensive washing machines. (Food) Of all the hotels I've stayed at along the way, I found the breakfast to be the best value

Hotel staff were great and super helpful. Rooms are large and very clean. The location is very good and next to trail walk and river. Food is buffet style and good. Definitely recommended.

The hotel is newly renovated with good service and facilities. Good Onsen , good buffet with a lot of varieties. I have no second thought to recommend any visitors to stay in this hotel.

It's located in the middle of the Tsurusenkei area, so if you arrive in the afternoon, you can walk the left side first and then the right side in the morning to avoid getting too tired

(Facilities) The lobby is large and offers complimentary tea and drinks. There's also a free playground on the 6th floor with ping-pong tables, snooker, etc

A place to relax, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Room view (esp the traditional Japanese room) and onsen view are beautiful and picturesque. I wish I can come back here and relive the memories of my stay

You can choose different meals. I didn't get tired of it after two days. When I checked in, I was given a lot of coupons for the hot spring street, where I could get various ice creams and snacks

The hotel has a shuttle bus from Kaga Onsen Station, which needs to be booked in advance. There are service staff who can speak English and Chinese. There are free snacks in the morning, afternoon and evening

The cascading waterfall in the Yamanaka area was a stunning sight, and our tatami room was spacious and comfortable. The kaiseki meal was superb, and the onsen waters were excellent. It was a wonderful experience overall

The open-air bath along the mountain stream requires you to descend quite a few steps along the slope, then climb back up after bathing, making it a good workout. It's a great place to go and have something to talk about

The main course is freshly grilled salt-grilled mackerel, its skin crispy and the flesh tender, served with hot miso soup and brown rice—instantly warming the stomach; the tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelet) is soft and fluffy like a cloud, with a subtle bonito flavor; and there are three or four kinds of pickled side dishes, perfectly balanced in sourness and saltiness to cut through the richness

From the punctuality of the station pick-up and drop-off to the thoughtful service during our meal, and the subtle attention to our preferences, this hotel made us realize that truly good service is not about standardized procedures, but about making you feel genuinely cared for in a foreign land—like the hot spring water of Kaga, seemingly calm, yet always able to warm your heart in the details

The surrounding scenery is very nice. Not only the hostess, but also the staff are very friendly. The food is also the best. If you want to feel the Japanese atmosphere, I highly recommend it.

The dinner’s alone were well worth the experience. The chef and waitstaff (Aiko), were excellent and the quality, taste and freshness of each intricately prepared dish was amazing

Everyone tried their best to accommodate us, from the shuttle bus to the luggage service (from Kyoto and to Tokyo)

The experience was beyond expectations, with the staff being very warm and friendly (Hiroko and Naomi!), an absolute banquet of flavors for breakfast and dinner, and a relaxing private onsen overlooking only bamboos and the river

Of course I could not allow her to lift the heavy bags. All the other people were not available to help or see me out. Extremely rude by Japanese standards. Coffee at breakfast I was told to get at the coffee machine

Walking distance to Yamanaka, a lovely town with very friendly people and wonderful ceramics, and ideal for gorgeous nature hikes at the Kakusenkei Gorge. Highly recommended experience, particularly for couples!

Beautiful hotel on a beautiful river. For Japanese standards the service was just ok. Much nicer greeting upon arrival. Was left to drag my suitcases out the door with a wonderful old lady trying to help me

The room had clearly been renovated and came with low futon beds which was welcome as my back is not quite up to sleeping on a traditional floor futon these days, even with an onsen to wash away the aches! Plus it means you can be a bum and relax on the bed right from the outset

I always include an overnight trip to an onsen whenever I’m in Japan so I’ve seen many to compare to. This is a lovely traditional ryokan that has had some discreet modern renovations that really improve the experience

We were here on a Monday so I suspect there may have been very few others staying, which meant we received an unexpected upgrade to our room, which was very kind

Furthermore, they provide pick-up and drop-off services for both outings and returns, a mere 20-minute drive – incredibly convenient. The hotel rooms are spacious, offering ample room for activities

Huazi is about a 25-minute drive from Kaga Onsen Station. The hotel will send an email to inquire about the arrival time and provide free pick-up. My last hotel was Jixiangting, which is a 5-minute walk away

Later I thought it would be a good idea to upgrade, which would cost nearly a thousand dollars more. The staff member took the timetable of Kaga Onsen Station and asked about the drop-off time

There is a wood and lacquerware exhibition hall where you can visit and shop, and the prices are reasonable. Hua Zi has a minimalist style and the amenities are also minimalist

Excellent facilities and lots of “extras” like onsen eggs, free snacks and drinks. Baths were clean and lots to choose from. Staff were friendly and professional. overall a great hotel!

Quaint place with great amenities close to the main road

My family of seven stayed here at the end of the year. The facilities were great, so we were able to enjoy ourselves without having to go out after checking in. I'm glad my family was satisfied!

The hotel offers many self-service options, such as hot spring eggs, steamed buns, and snacks. The hot spring water is all sourced from natural springs, which is very relaxing

Our room had an entryway where you would take off your shoes/seta, the toilet was in its own small room, the vanity had its own small room, and the shower/tub had its own small room

The hotel offers a shuttle service to and from the station. They also provide luggage storage and a shuttle to Yunokuni no Mori the next day, which is very convenient

This onsen hotel is very traditional, that’s what we wanted. The service is excellent and warm. Dinner and breakfast are really with regional ingredients.

Very very satisfied, the autumn scenery is beautiful, and the open-air hot spring in the room is amazing. Breakfast and dinner are super rich. Because of my eating habits, the hotel helped to modify the menu

Perhaps a hostess more fluent in english would have been helpful but anyway she was most gracious, attentive and courteous. The amenities, food and service were really great!

Almost everything was in tip top condition including our requests for a vegetarian dunner and breakfast for one of our friends

Now the process is done quickly. The corner Western-style room I booked is very good to live in. The sun is bright and the size is just right. The hotel is generous and the coffee and tea bar is available 24 hours a day

When you check in, you will be asked to choose a private bath for 50 minutes. The large bath is also very good. You can also soak in the foot bath when you are free

Generally, I think the service is good, but I did notice some of the staff (waitresses?) chatting in the entrance while waiting for guests. I thought it might be better for them to wait in the back-of-house instead

This is a traditional Japanese hotel with an excellent location and good service. The public bath is open 24 hours, and the rooms are large and comfortable, though the facilities are a bit dated

Overall, it offers great value for money. The WiFi doesn't reach all rooms, and there's no signal at all on the fourth floor, which needs improvement

In contrast, the two front desk staff (they were clearly not Japanese, probably Indian or Southeast Asian) were the most unprofessional hotel employees I've ever encountered: in the morning, when I greeted them, there was no reply; later, when I walked in from outside the hotel, they were loudly chatting and laughing

" In the end, I interpreted this as the house cleaning staff coming in and realizing that the room was for a multiple-night stay guest, and then leaving. Other than that, the amenities were well-stocked and I was pleased

In the morning, I left the air conditioner on and closed the sliding doors before leaving the room, but when I returned, the air conditioner was off and the sliding doors were open

" While it's true that there were bath towels provided for each guest multiplied by the number of days, I think it would have been better to ask multiple-night guests at check-in

We managed to resolve this issue by receiving additional bath towels, and having the trash and used bath towels collected while we were in the public bath

The instructions in the room didn't say anything about it, so we called the front desk, but no one answered. I wonder where it was connected

However, there was one other issue: there were clear signs of someone entering the room, even though it hadn't been cleaned

I was very pleased with my recent stay at a hotel. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a modern decor that made me feel relaxed. The friendly staff were always willing to help and made me feel welcome

You absolutely must book a shuttle bus to the hotel in advance (Ctrip doesn't offer customer service); you have to call and book it yourself

Otherwise, you'll have to take a bus from Kaga Onsen Station to the town and then call a taxi. To return to the JR station, you can book the 9, 10, or 11 am bus in advance

Helpful staff, a lovely room, excellent food and beautiful surroundings made our stay a highlight of our visit to Japan. Highly recommended for people who enjoy stays in quieter villages. We will return.

The hotel offers a free shuttle bus to Kaga Onsen Station, a 20-minute ride away. Pick-up times are between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM, and drop-off times are between 9:00 AM and 12:00 AM (I might be mistaken)
