We selected the Kamunabi Guesthouse because we wanted to stay in a more traditional Japanese guesthouse. Our room was very spacious and immaculate, with tatami mats and futons, which we expected and with which we were happy. As the walls between rooms are merely screens, any noise can be heard across rooms. We knew we would share a bathroom (toilet), which was cumbersome to get to and quite a few people shared it. Just FYI. We did not purchase the breakfast, so no comment on that. We did purchase coffee and it was great! Sake tasting is a miss. Very good location, however.

The quilts in the room are OK, but it would be very uncomfortable if someone snores in a 6-person room. The beds are not enclosed and are very similar to dormitories in China. There is a washing machine at 220 yen per time, but no dryer. The toilet is just average, and you have to wear hotel shoes when going in and out, which are really not that good. Towels and toothbrushes must be bought separately. There is a kettle and a refrigerator for cooking, and there are lockers for ordering in advance.

It was my first time to experience a youth hostel. The beds were bunk beds. I was lucky to be assigned to the upper bunk. After all, if I wanted to get out of bed, it would affect the passengers in the lower bunk. The hotel staff are quite friendly. Excluding the queues for bathing and the fact that it is quite far from JR Nara, the hotel is pretty good. After all, it is a youth hostel. Those who need a separate space for their light sleep and fear of noise should think twice.
