Great place to stay in Hakone, we really enjoyed our 2 nights stay which included breakfast (good variety and fresh!). The onsen was also a nice surprise in the hotel. The rooms are nicely decorated and the beds are soft and comfortable. The staff is super friendly.

The hotel is well located to visit Hakone. The bedrooms are very comfortable especially with the private onsen. The walls are thin, it may little bit noisy. Light sleepers may be disturbed. The staff is professionnal and accommodating. The dinner taste good and copious.

Very good hotel. Can get a bit loud in the room in the morning- if your windows are facing the Main Street. Sound isolation is not the strongest side of the rooms design.They provide earplugs tho. Very good location for easy access to the various sightseeing spots in Hakone. The staff were all friendly and spoke good English. Dinner was delicious and healthy.

The private bath is really a plus! There are four and no wait line. I had used it twice during my overnight stay. The Japanese dinner is quite delicious too! The surprise was that it snowed, adding extra aesthetic touch.

This is a Showa-era style ryokan. There's a bus stop right outside, but no shops nearby. Unless you book meals at the hotel in advance, you'll need to travel a few stops to find food. Breakfast was decent. However, the facilities are old and not very well-maintained, especially the hot springs, which weren't clean at all and quite dirty.

This hotel was a bit aged but well maintained. They have both public and private bath for the guest to use. Some facilities is not very convenient but still usable.

This hotel sits about mid way on the mountain and a ten minute walk down the road will put you at the rope way to Owadaunuki and the Aishi Cruise Boat. Very friendly and helpful reception. He drove us to the station. Also the lady in the restaurant. The food was excellent. Lot of fresh seafood. Sauna and public onsen were great. We also got timeslot for private onsen. The location is about 10 minutes walk from station but quite hilly road. It was a nice walk when we did not drag our luggages. The hotel does not provide body towels, and you have to pay 500 yen for one. Shared toilet, and you have to wait to go in the cubicle. The ambient is a little creepy 😅

We stayed here to be close to the train station. I guess we didn't realize it was a double bed room with no private bath (it turned out to not be busy, so it wasn't a problem). But no bathroom amenities available, no towels and no clear place to take a shower. The beds were ridiculously hard (I've slept on grounds while camping that were softer than these beds). It was a room-only stay. It would be perfect if they increased the number of shared toilet stalls! Also, I wish there was Wi-Fi in the rooms.

For a one-night stay package that included two meals, all-you-can-drink alcohol, and a private onsen, it was absolutely flawless. The service was very friendly, although their English was a bit limited. Definitely the best value for money in Hakone Yumoto!

The room was a decent size. The pajamas provided were very comfortable, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious! The subway station is right across the street, just a stone's throw away. The area is very quiet, and a morning stroll around the Imperial Palace was lovely.

The room was clean, a standard Japanese-style room, but it didn't have a private bathroom; we had to use the communal onsen for showers. The location was serene, with a lovely Japanese countryside view, and there were some good restaurants nearby. For the price, it offered great value. You definitely need a car to get here, as the nearest bus stop is a 10-minute walk away.

The room is a traditional Japanese Style. The environment was very relaxing and surrounded by nature. The hot spring was amazing with bamboo forest surrounding which gives the most calming vibe.

The price is reasonable, which I think is great!

The room was quite comfortable, and the hot spring bath was very convenient. However, the transportation is not convenient, making it unsuitable for those with large suitcases.

The room was a decent size and clean,though very cold if you turned the aircon off.The gentlemen at the front of house was a joy,very witty and so helpful,planned our route to the airport for us.

It is not easy to find fluent English speaking person but here you feel in home. You will get all tips to get around and all is relevant.

I originally thought that the Hakone Onsen Hotel was too expensive and the cost-effectiveness of traveling alone was not high, so I chose a youth hostel. The experience of 3 days and 2 nights was more than I expected. An old man received me when I checked in that day. Clean and sanitary, with hot spring facilities.  The service was excellent Suitable for solo travel But the location is really bad There are only one or two buses passing by in an hour, otherwise you have to walk up the mountain for 10-15 minutes.

This is a wonderful hostel with an indoor and outdoor Onsen. It has a lovely living area and a well kitted out kitchen with free tea and coffee. The staff are all very welcoming and very helpful. My two teenage girls loved staying here. Just to note, it is an uphill walk from the train station. There is a bus but it is not very frequent.

We checked in after 9 PM, and the hotel receptionist had someone help us with the check-in. The hotel's main onsen (hot spring) is closed until 10 PM, but we could still use the small underground bathroom next door afterwards. This was a good place to stay: nice rooms, nice breakfast (I didn't have dinner), a central location that was still quiet, nice indoor hot spring. Somehow I never timed the outdoor hot spring right, which is disappointing. The staff was exceptionally friendly. Not a "luxury" experience, but a simple enjoyable one.

Wonderful hosts- the best part of our stay were the owners. They drove us to dinner and Gora, gave us waters for our outings and made us feel like family. The rooms were comfortable and the hot springs were great. Easy to reserve the onsen, private toilet. You shower where you do the onsen. A highlight of our trip!

The bathroom is shared! There's a sink in the room, but going to the bathroom in the early morning can be inconvenient. If you don't know the location, it might be difficult to get there. Buying a local free pass is convenient. The food is so delicious that it's worth all the inconveniences mentioned above. Highly recommended!

The building felt a little worn, but everything was exceptionally clean and functional. We liked our traditional Japanese room. I was afraid that we'd be cold there in November but we managed to heat the room really well with the AC. We could easily book a private onsen room just for us upon arrival. This is a surprisingly old hotel. While many of the amenities are dated and some rooms lack private bathrooms, my personal experience makes it highly recommended. I stumbled upon a deal on Ctrip and booked a room with an indoor hot spring bath and private bathroom. Each room has a different name. We stayed in Chidori, which was on the second floor without an elevator, so we had to carry our luggage...

The building is old, but it's close to the bus stop and easy to find. The service is excellent, and everyone is very friendly. I was surprised to see alcohol included in the welcome drink, but I was even more impressed by the all-you-can-drink option at dinner. I had a very enjoyable and relaxing time.

Room is good, but the shower room is on the ground floor same place with the hot spring, the bus stop is nearby to the train station, however there is no supermarket or restaurant nearby, you have to take the bus to get there, hotel is quite far from the train station that the bus fare is not cheap

You can't store your luggage. Extra charges apply for extended periods, but there are no luggage lockers in Sengokuhara. Also, something strange happened that night. At midnight, the TV suddenly turned on by itself, giving me a start.

Coolest hostel I have ever stayed in Japan, the staff was so friendly and everyday was a vibe. I really enjoyed talking with the staff at night, also met some really cool solo travelers as well. The kitchen is super nice and spacious and the dinner is super cute.

The atmosphere was fantastic, and they even had a campfire BBQ at night. The hotel has a kitchen, so you can buy ingredients and cook for yourself, and there's a 7-Eleven and Lawson nearby, which is really convenient for grabbing things. Overall, it was a very comfortable stay, and I plan to recommend it to my friends.

Enjoyed the full Japanese guest house experience, welcome was excellent and the outside hot spring (onsen) was amazing. Rooms basic as expected and local restaurant (China House) for dumplings and noodles was great value and the food was gorgeous.

I chose this hotel because of its price and proximity to the station, but it was even more comfortable than I expected. The staff were friendly, I was allowed to bring my towels into the hot springs, and the beds and shared showers were well-cleaned. Overall, it was a great stay!

The hostel was really clean, and the beds were surprisingly spacious. Every area was spotless. The lady at the front desk was super friendly; we chatted a lot, and she even helped me plan my itinerary. She even said goodnight to me when she saw me still in the kitchen in the evening. A unique place. It's a small box, and while it's not far to anywhere in Hakone, it's a steep climb to the hotel. The hot water taps are a bit odd. The girl at reception is very friendly and speaks excellent English, and explains everything in detail. The environment was fine, and the facilities were complete. However, the blankets smelled strongly of body odor, which was awful. The quality of the bedding needs improvement.
