This five-star hotel is absolutely wonderful! The hotel itself has a rich history, and there's even a museum inside that meticulously chronicles its past. The hotel garden is stunning and perfect for photos. The Japanese breakfast is a must-try; we enjoyed it so much that we had it for four consecutive mornings! What's more, the Japanese breakfast menu changes every three days, with each day offering...
This hotel is practically flawless. The facilities are excellent, the service is great, the food is delicious, the aesthetics are beautiful, and the location is perfect.
Some particular highlights include:
① The entire hotel is a scenic spot; you could spend half a day just exploring it. The adjacent shrine is directly connected to a hiking trail.
② Japanese breakfast requires a reservation, while...
The forest-view rooms are located in the wing built in the 1960s. The decor isn't just retro; it's genuinely vintage. You can tell they used quality materials and had good taste, but it definitely feels dated. The public bath is conveniently located on the 6th floor of the forest wing. The shower stalls have dividers, so privacy is decent. If you're not comfortable using the public bath, the hot water...
The hotel itself has a lot of character. As a century-old hot spring hotel, the architecture is quaint and grand, and the courtyard is huge, perfect for a long stroll and great for photos. The location is also very convenient with easy access to transportation. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, highly recommended.
This hotel exceeded my expectations. Even though I had some understanding of it before booking, staying there in person truly revealed the unexpected delights. The hotel is conveniently located near the Tram Palace lower station or the Hotel Zen bus stop, making it accessible even without a car or private charter. Then there's the hotel's architecture, the concierge area, the front desk, the check...
This is my 3rd visit in past 2 years.
The hotel is so well maintained, the service is very professional.
We enjoyed the japanese set dinner and felt that the portion can be bigger.
The Western Breakfast was great and must try. The dining ambience was good.

A ryokan that even the locals enjoy! It was an amazing experience staying in Madoka no Mori - from pick up at Gora station to the check-in, we were looked after. I was with my partner and accompanied by family members as well (their first time in Japan). The service was impeccable - communication was excellent, facilities were top-notch and the care we received was nothing short of amazing. We would...
Service was absolutely top notch. The hotel was beautiful, but showed some small signs of aging. Onsen was everything we hoped. Own bath in the room and an open-air public bath. Would love to visit again in the future.
Gora Hanagami En no Shrine is simply a dreamlike place! Located in Gora, Hakone, the ryokan boasts a tranquil and elegant environment with a beautiful Japanese garden that remains stunning in all seasons. The spacious and comfortable rooms perfectly blend traditional and modern elements, with meticulous attention to detail in every aspect. The cuisine is exquisite, using seasonal ingredients to create...
Thank you for your attentive service.
Thanks to you, we had a truly wonderful time. The room and all the facilities were excellent, making us feel incredibly comfortable.
Here, I would like to offer some feedback to one of the female staff members in charge of food and beverage service. We were deeply moved by her genuine effort and dedication. At the same time, for her future development, we would...
Absolutely stunning location and amazing service. 10/10 would stay again
We arrived at Gora Station and called the hotel to pick us up. Initially, we were a little disappointed with the hotel's facilities, but after checking in, we found that the service far outweighed the amenities.
Our server was a 26-year-old woman named Yokoyama. Her English wasn't great, but her smile and service were impeccable—she was incredibly charming! I think it was because of her that I was...

An absolutely amazing experience! I've stayed in countless top-tier hotels over the years, and Gōra Kadan is, without a doubt, the best!
The service was incredibly thoughtful. They offered on-demand shuttle service to all the attractions in Gora, which was a lifesaver, especially avoiding walking in the cold winter. I highly recommend booking a room with a private onsen, as the bookable private baths and the public bath don't compare to the experience of soaking in your own room.
Our stay at this luxury ryokan was simply magnificent in every aspect: the service, atmosphere, grounds, cleanliness, and the genuine care and attention to detail were all exceptional.
From the moment we arrived, we were treated with the utmost reverence and attentiveness, making us feel like honored guests and part of the ryokan family. As Russian guests, we were particularly impressed by the thoughtful...
Very suitable for family travel!
When we arrived, three hotel staff greeted us and helped us with our luggage. The whole accommodation experience was very good, with thoughtful details and a warm feeling. When we left the hotel, we sat in the lobby to enjoy the view. The manager took the initiative to serve tea and asked about our itinerary and needs. He sent a car to take us to Gora Station. I give it a thumbs up.
When checking in, the hotel will explain the tourist route of Hakone. It's a no-brainer to check in and just follow the map provided by the hotel.
The service exceeded my expectations. I felt like a princess returning home during my stay. I thought this was the standard Japanese service. But later I stayed in other hotels and found that the service of Gora Kadan is far better than other hotels of...

I cannot say enough positive things about this beautiful and relaxing ryokan. The setting is stunning and a perfect example of Japanese gardens. Soaking in the onsen baths are the best way to relax after a day of travel or sightseeing. I enjoyed the morning by soaking in the outside onsen. The daily breakfast and dinners are called Kaiseki with multiple course and presented in the most beautiful...
Absolutely fantastic first time Ryokan experience. The service was incredible from start to finish. Teh took care of us and the Kaiseki in room meals were fantastic culinary adventures with local ingredients and immaculate display. Teh was SO NICE and really took great care of us - she served us every meal in room and made sure we had all we needed. Everyone spoke English and made it easy. We felt...
A magical, unforgettable experience at a traditional ryokan with superior service and attention to detail. We stayed in a room with a private outdoor garden onsen and enjoyed every moment of our stay. The dinner and breakfast were outstanding - delicious, generous, and meticulously prepared. We are especially grateful to Satoko who took care of us during our stay. We will always remember her thoughtful...
This traditional Japanese inn was the perfect place to relax and wind down after 2 sightseeing days in Tokyo prior! We were greeted at the door and immediately given green tea and cookies. The food was so fresh and exquisite and...
An amazing stay in a beautiful tranquil place. Our room was a good size and the onsen was wonderfully relaxing. The food provided was plentiful and delicious, with a large range of Japanese dishes served for both breakfast and dinner, make sure you leave enough room for all 11 courses! However, the best thing about the place was the service, our nakai-san could not do enough for us, neither could...
I was able to reach the ryokan via self-drive using Google Maps. I thought I reached the wrong place but the staff seemed to be looking out for guests and signalled the direction to the entrance when I was outside which was great service! Here is very nice Ryokang. Good service and All Staffs are very friendly especially A Nepali guy (Sorry, I didn't ask him name) He is very helpful and suggested us things to do in Yugawara. We are very appreciated here.

We had a wonderful stay at Atami Kaihourou. The staff were friendly and made us feel comfortable right away. The ocean view was amazing and so relaxing—definitely something we looked forward to. We booked their last room last minute, it’s the cheapest room but still was spacious and with great design and nice view. The meals were also a big highlight: beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious....
very difficult to get to

I enjoyed my stay at Kaihourou. The view was breathtaking. Room was cozy yet sophisticated. The building is an architectural masterpiece by Kengo Kuna.
Food was amazing and aesthetically presented. The onsen experience was very relaxing and exclusive.
Not sure if this resort normally have English speaking guests. As the staff’s communication is quite limited with non-Japanese speakers.
The service and the large private onsen were excellent! Although Sawa's room was nice, it gave my son three big insect bites on his arms. We were not allowed to go up to view the second floor. The dinner and breakfast kaiseki were so-so and seemed ordinary. There is nothing to do around this place. The beach is too far. For the pricey amount we paid, I wouldn't recommend it. It's not worth it.
Amazing Kaiseki expérience for the second Time. Délicate food beautiful plating and really nice service. If you want to experience Japanese fine dining, just Come here
Dinner was amazing. The taste and presentation were very impressive. There is nothing around. You can't go straight down to the sea, so it's farther than I thought, and there wasn't much to do other than stay in the room. I took a walk, but the view wasn't that great. It was okay, and very clean. Walking into the lobby, I was pleasantly surprised by how clean it was. Although it's an old hotel with a vintage interior, it has a charming feel, almost like stepping back into the Japanese dramas I watched as a kid. Despite its age, it's very well-maintained and clean, which made it comfortable. Everything else was pretty standard. The location was convenient.
This was my second stay at Yumoto Fujiya Hotel, and it's always the hotel with the best environment and largest rooms during my two-week trips to Japan. The room has a tatami area, which is perfect for relaxing and chatting. Waking up in the morning and standing on the balcony, you're greeted by lush greenery and the sound of a gurgling stream – it's an absolute treat for both body and mind. The bathroom...
The hotel's location is excellent. From Hakone-Yumoto Station, you take the elevator down to ground level, cross the bridge, and the hotel is a short walk on your right, up another elevator. If you want a private onsen, you'll need to book it separately for 2000 yen per person. We booked a standard double room; the facilities aren't brand new but are clean, and the room itself is larger than what you...
The hotel location is great and just next to Hakone Yumoto Station. Overall, the staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is great and includes lots of varieties. You could also reserve the private bath and the cost is reasonable. We took the French Restaurant for dinner which is amazing good.
This was the best hotel I stayed at during my Chinese New Year trip to Japan, though it was also the most expensive. The hotel is right by the Hakone-Yumoto station exit, just across the little red bridge, which is incredibly convenient for families with luggage or young children.

The hotel's shuttle bus was very convenient, the room was comfortable, breakfast was exquisite, and the hotel service was excellent. A wonderful memory.
This hotel is nestled in the mountains, and the service was decent. The facilities inside the hotel were all quite clean. Overall, it was good.
This hotel is great for seniors; the hot springs are nice, and while the facilities are a bit old, they're clean.
Environment: There aren't many other hotels nearby.
Hygiene: It's good; the cleaning staff does a good job.
A very good stay overall. Rooms were a bit dusty and mould on the bathroom ceiling. However staff were excellent and looked after us all the way.
The hotel's shuttle service made getting around incredibly easy. We pre-booked it on Ctrip, and the shuttle to/from Odawara was right on schedule. It also offered flexible pickups and drop-offs at several attractions. After returning to the hotel, a soak in the hot spring was the perfect way to unwind and wash away the day's fatigue.
Spacious room and nice services. The breakfast has a great variety of choices. Hot spring is nice.

The hotel has a beautiful environment, especially the Japanese garden 🏡 which is incredibly picturesque. Even though it's winter, the plum blossoms and cherry blossoms 🌸 in the courtyard are already in bloom, making for a pleasant stroll. There are also many cultural relics. The guest rooms are a bit dated, and the facilities are just average.
The hotel's location is excellent. The bus to Owakudani leaves right in front of the hotel. However, there was no snow, so the outdoor views from the hotel weren't particularly appealing, just mountains and bare branches. Since we didn't opt for a meal, the two futons were already laid out for us quite early.
We stayed in a few Ryokans but this Yoshiike Ryokan is the best because the room have large window that allow fresh mountain air to flow into the room and the futons are incredibly comfortable and warmed. We came in January when the weather dropped to 0c and the room had heaters. The onsen is beautiful and natural. My wife loved the gardens. And the receptionists are very polite and happy. We loved...
The lady at the front desk spoke incredibly fast, regardless of whether you understood her or not. She quickly scribbled on a piece of paper, rapidly fulfilling her duty to inform, clearly a very indifferent person. The hotel room is spacious, and on a clear day, you can see the snow-capped Mount Fuji directly from the seaside garden – it's absolutely stunning! This foldable makeup mirror is super cool! If you get a front-facing lake view room, you can literally lie down and enjoy the entire panorama from your room! The hotel is right next to the pirate ship pier and the H bus terminal! She went above and beyond to help us when our downhill transportation was unexpectedly delayed.
Beautiful hotel with a perfect view of the lake and right next to public transportation options. The deluxe lake view room was huge and very clean.

Friendly staff and nice view with Fuji mountain. Stay peaceful.
The room was decent, but the view from the first floor wasn't great. I imagine the higher floors would have a better view. The food was good, typical Japanese style, and the service was also good.
The scenery is beautiful, and the location is great, right next to Lake Ashi. The rooms are quite large and the facilities are good. Wonderful staff and accommodation.
This is a Premium high $$$ stay, you will feel very fancy here.
The private Onsen is the best I have ever had the pleasure of using (it is 1000% worth the surcharge)
The only issues I had with my stay were some inconsistencies with the online posting and the english room instructions they appeared a little out of date (for example they both listed a dinner that was not available for our stay)
Probably the best hotel we’ve ever stayed in. Amazing staff with unparalleled Japanese service, super clean, fantastic onsen. FREE ALCOHOL, best breakfast ever.

The service here is incredibly thoughtful. You can communicate directly if you have any needs, and Mr. Zhang at the reception was meticulously attentive to all our requirements. There's also a laundry service. Most importantly, if you're driving, Hakone can be quite challenging with its narrow roads, so be careful!

The number of guests was limited, so we were able to stay in a quiet and peaceful environment. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable, and we were very satisfied with the private hot spring.
Wonderful
Everything was wonderful. From the check-in, dinner, bath, breakfast, to the farewell, everything was wonderful. The quality of the guests was also excellent.
Very quiet, luxurious hotel with only 14 rooms. Fabulous dinner and breakfast. Wonderful inroom Onsen bath. We had an open air private onsen. Expected a typical autumn scenery with trees changing color but a little disappointed. It might be better in spring, with fresh green vegitation.
This was my fourth visit, following my first in July this year. It's not too hot and not too cold, so it may be just the right season for a hot spring. This time, too, I enjoyed a dinner that lived up to my expectations. The main dish is usually beef, but this time it was duck. The meat was cooked to perfection, and the saltiness and gravy were a taste that I can't describe. The fish was a grouper...

Love the peace and quiet! I love the privacy of a in-room onsen. Breakfast and dinner were really good. I will come back again
The room was absolutely beautiful! 🤩 The hot spring was also incredibly relaxing.
I stayed in a two-story room, so the two spaces were very separate and comfortable!
The bed was also very, very large!
The bamboo forest view from the window was absolutely stunning.
The Kaiseki cuisine is full of ritual, the hotel is very private, dinner and breakfast are in the room, so there is no public space in the hotel. Bathing is very comfortable, suitable for couples to travel.

Bad thing - NO VIEW ! our room with a Huge balcony faced a car park , I guess that’s why they sell this room to Non-Members . Thus the Balcony serve no purpose bcos there’s no view .
Parking is easy , including access to basement parking .

I didn't get the service I expected. The room was spacious and the amenities were good, but the customer service was a bit off. I felt like they prioritized employees over the customer experience.
While relaxing in the open-air bath in your room, look at the river flowing right next to you, close your eyes and listen to the sound of the flow. Heavenly paradise.
Ordered in a hurry the day before. Many hotels in Hakone, such as Kanaya and Hiramatsu, have been visited, but this hotel has a very good mood, because the baths are from two sources, the rooms are kept clean, and there are many children with children. excellent attitude towards food, the fact that the food, mainly consisting of fish, is not cost-effective, and the sound of the water and the night...
This was a quality place to stay for adults! ] The food, rooms and hot springs are all perfect. This is quality at this price, you can get a quality experience that you will definitely want to visit throughout your life. Customer service is friendly, When you check in Please come to your room You gave me an explanation. Welcome drink in the room Friends are delighted with the sparkling apple juice...

The experience was above and beyond expectation. The room and onsen were phenomenal ways to wind down after all of our sightseeing and exploration.
My wife is vegetarian and they made special accommodations to fit both her diet and my own while very patiently explaining each part of our meals to use and direction on how to best enjoy them. If we're ever back in Hakone, this is where we will be staying...
This place was nice for the money and the big selling point was the breakfast dinner plan that is worth getting
Overall is good, but food wise can be improved
The hotel was very comfortable, and the staff were incredibly enthusiastic and friendly. There's a hot spring for bathing, and it includes a one-night stay with two meals. The food selection was extensive and very rich. Overall, it's excellent value for money. Highly recommended!
Rally love the Ryokan experience. Beside is family mart super convenient. Free flow of beer and delicious dinner and breakfast! Bed is soooo comfortable. 5 stars for me🥰

Hakone Kogen Hotel is perfect for those looking to unwind in a peaceful natural setting. Surrounded by greenery, the atmosphere was calm and refreshing, making it a great escape from the busy city. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, with a nice traditional touch that added to the overall experience.
One of the highlights was the onsen. The hot spring facilities were well-maintained and...
I totally recommend it.
Just be aware that the onsens are naked and they separate females and males. I recommend to book for a private onsen and you can be with your partner
I opted for a two-meal option and would recommend this place to everyone; I think it's quite good value for money. However, there's no shower in the room, so you have to go to the public bathhouse to shower, and then you can soak in the hot spring. If you don't like soaking in the hot spring with a group, they have private bathhouses available for booking at 3500 yen per hour. I recommend them to everyone
The food was great and the open-air bath was the best. I will visit again. It was near the lake so the atmosphere was good and it was a quiet place so I could rest quietly.
A very local hot spring hotel. Although the facilities are old, it is cost-effective.
The hotel service is first-class, the room is large enough, clean and hygienic. It is close to the bus station and Taoyuandai Station. The dinner is also very rich. I enjoy soaking in the hot spring. The only drawback is that there is no shower room in the room. I have to go to the large bath every time.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Shiunso. The meals were incredible and both private onsens, as well as the private bath in our room, were amazing. All staff were kind and helpful. We left feeling very restored and relaxed. Highly recommended!
If you are wanting traditional Japanese, we had dinner and breakfast in our room with Japanese Bath included absolutely awesome highly recommended if you want old school Japanese hotel.
We had a room with a private onsen which was beautiful and overlooked the river. It was so lovely to hear the water rushing and all the nature sounds. We had dinner and breakfast included, traditional multi course Japanese meals.
Lovely ryokan with amazing food !! Highly recommend the private baths too for anyone that’s new to onsen experience. 😆
Loved staying here to relax. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Although limited English, communication was not an issue. Loved the private onsen as well as the one in our room. Also very close to the bus stop without fear of being too close to cars, since going into the city there’s really not a sidewalk
Fantastic service. Fantastic food. No complaints.

Amazing experience here.... One that we will remember fondly for sure !!
Amazing experience with the hotel dining in a private room, loved the onsen in our room , only wished we could spend more nights here !
Thank you for making our first Ryokan experience a memorable on
The overall service and facilities were excellent, especially the open-air bath in the room, which was fantastic. It was a bit disappointing, however, that we couldn't arrange dinner on Christmas Eve and had to eat out.
fabulous experience - food was interesting and delicious.
the room was lovely looking out to the Mountains with our Private bath...
the service was lovely....
I would recommend this as a Ryokan experience. Just use the luggage transfer service from arrival at the Station in Hakone to save you getting your bags up the hill.....
its easy to come down when leaving.
The staff were really helpful and really nice
The food was great too
The room is really nice and has the sauna in the room. It is really private but when showering you need to sit on the stool to ensure the opposite no one is looking at you
Well service.Staff was very nice and helpful. We are so surprised the food.
Very Appreciate.Look forward next time.

An amazing experience! Everything was perfect, the food was delicious and the staff incredibly kind. Gurum-san took care of us and was very kind and warm toward us.
Thank you very much, Hananoyado Fukuya! Can’t wait to visit you again.
As first timers in Japan, we were not expecting how long and exhausting the Hakone loop would be. This place was a true resting spot for us after a hectic day. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us when we were running late. Dinner was delicious. The open air onsen was dreamy and romantic. The room was so comfortable! We were even able to see Fuji-san in the morning 🏔 and left feeling very...
Superb Ryokan with private Onsen in every room and also a bigger onsen for the use of the hotel guest that turns private when someone is using it. Amazing quality of Kaiseki food for dinner and Breakfast. Japanese style rooms with Tatami and bed set on the floor (difficult if you have a bad back as we do) Its located just a half block of the main road and lake but on an steep slope. Difficult to get...
My partner and I stopped here for a night after a hectic week in Tokyo, and it’s been the highlight of our trip. The location is perfect, just a short walk from the sightseeing cruise on lake ashi. The private bath was extremely relaxing; we got in 5 times in our one night stay. The breakfast is extremely worth the price, especially for the table side experience. Lastly- we couldn’t find any taxis...
Incredibly relaxing atmosphere, right from the reception area. Exactly what was needed after a busy week with a lot of moving around!
Private onsen outside the room was secluded and tranquil, the water was hot enough to soak all tension away.
After a great night's sleep in the quiet, calm room, breakfast was a wonderful treat. An enormous variety of beautifully prepared food, delivered to the room...
The room was very cozy, a very typical Japanese inn. My baby loved the tatami and the chairs at the tea table. The breakfast was excellent, with good color, aroma and taste, rich dishes, and several rounds of drinks. Although we didn't dine in the room, we were in a separate dining room as a family, which was a unique experience.
The private bath is also great and comfortable.
It is just a short walk...

Lovely staff, extremely clean hotel, room was massive!!!! So many amenities in the room!!!!!!! Well recommended
This time we were driving, and the hotel is located on a slope, which didn't really affect us. There's a bit of a walk to find food nearby. For travelers without a car, I'd recommend buying food before checking in, as you can cook your own meals here.
The hotel's location is excellent, just about 200 meters from the left exit of Gora Station. However, the hotel signs aren't very clear, and we had to look for a while before we were sure we'd found it. After entering, we had to wait quite a bit before someone came to assist us, which was a bit inconvenient. The room was spacious, but the hot spring bath wasn't very big. Overall, it's still worth recommending...
My child really loved it. The room was spacious enough, and our family of three had a very comfortable stay.
It's a bit old, but the location is great, so it was a good value compared to other places.
First, a heads-up to anyone visiting this hotel: it's located in the Hakone mountains. If you're not driving, please, please be very careful not to get off the train in the wrong direction!
We came down from Owakudani by train and got off at Naka-Gora. Both train doors opened when it arrived, and we exited through the left door. Little did we know, we were in for a world of trouble – I won't go into...

This little gem was just incredible. We stayed for two nights in the Kisaian Ai suite. Very traditional room with a private onsen. Provided yukata's are gorgeous. The futon beds were super comfy. Food was next level and so is the service. I didn't want to leave. Such a special experience.
This boutique inn is located in the Hakone Onsen area. While it doesn't have a large public bath, it boasts three private baths available at any time, suitable for 2, 3, and 4 people respectively. Several other rooms also have private baths; I stayed in one of them.
The room features a Japanese-style design with Western-style bed frames. The private bath is semi-open-air, allowing you to enjoy the...
This was a great experience for us! The Ryokan Yushintei is near Hakone-Yumoto Station, about 5-10 minutes by taxi aprox. When we arrived, the man received us very politely and kind while recommending us the different services. But the best part was when we discovered our room: traditional Japanese, beautiful architecture and design, and having a private onsen inside the room. You can also have a bath...
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The Japanese-style room was very spacious, clean and beautiful. We also really liked the small onsen in our room, which was pleasantly warm. Guests also have the option of using the hotel's 3 private onsens for 40 minutes at a time; the individual bathing chambers are lockable. This means that people with tattoos can also enjoy a warm bath here :)
Since some...
The staff are so sweet. Their goal is to give you an authentic Japanese experience. It's serene, calming. Great for a relaxing vacation.
The residence is a bit far from main strip but so worth it. TV doesn't connect to Netflix but I think the purpose of a trip here should be yo disconnect and allows you to do just that! Spacious relative to rooms we stayed at in Tokyo
Definitely recommend and wish...
I chose this hotel because one blogger recommended it, and I got what I wanted - a beautiful and open-air onsen. There are 2 of them and both are private. The first onsen has 2 pools. In one of them, the top layer is hot, and the bottom layer is little bit cool. But when you get in, the temperature stabilizes. In the second pool the water is hotter, but it is open-air. In the second onsen the temperature...
