This is my 3rd visit in past 2 years. The hotel is so well maintained, the service is very professional. We enjoyed the japanese set dinner and felt that the portion can be bigger. The Western Breakfast was great and must try. The dining ambience was good.

The room was very comfortable and quiet. There are many places to explore throughout the hotel, and the hot springs are definitely worth a visit, especially in the morning when it's particularly peaceful!

This hotel has a lot of historical character and is pretty good overall. It has a garden you can stroll through, and there's a bus stop right outside that takes you directly to Odawara Station, which is very convenient. The only downside is you can't see Mount Fuji from here.

The service here is incredibly thoughtful. You can communicate directly if you have any needs, and Mr. Zhang at the reception was meticulously attentive to all our requirements. There's also a laundry service. Most importantly, if you're driving, Hakone can be quite challenging with its narrow roads, so be careful!

The location is a bit secluded.  The staff keep a clean environment.  The service here is excellent.  The facilities are good, however besides onsen and food, there isn't much else to do.  The uncharges are a bit steep

When we arrived, three hotel staff greeted us and helped us with our luggage. The whole accommodation experience was very good, with thoughtful details and a warm feeling. I enjoyed my stay at Kaihourou. The view was breathtaking. Room was cozy yet sophisticated. The building is an architectural masterpiece by Kengo Kuna. Food was amazing and aesthetically presented. The onsen experience was very relaxing and exclusive. Not sure if this resort normally have English speaking guests. As the staff’s communication is quite limited with non-Japanese speakers.

The service and the large private onsen were excellent! Although Sawa's room was nice, it gave my son three big insect bites on his arms. We were not allowed to go up to view the second floor. The hotel's location is excellent. The bus to Owakudani leaves right in front of the hotel. The hotel's shuttle service made getting around incredibly easy. We pre-booked it on Ctrip, and the shuttle to/from Odawara was right on schedule. Paid for an expensive lake view room but they gave us one which is the worst one. Furthermore the aircon was not working and it was stifling in the room. The experience was above and beyond expectation. The room and onsen were phenomenal ways to wind down after all of our sightseeing and exploration. I had a great stay with my brother. Lovely breakfast and dinner. Facilities were clean and functioning well. Staff was kind and helpful. The location is a bit uphill, prepare to walk on an incline for 5 minutes.

When we arrived, we were given a welcome drink and snacks, and then we took a short break and went into the hot springs. The food was excellent, and the staff were all nice. I would love to stay here again.

This was my third time here and I was once again very satisfied with the consistent service and food. The food in particular was creative and delicious, with dishes that I wouldn't normally be able to eat. I'll definitely come back when I want to relax.

The hot spring is only public and is charged on top of the room rate. The mountain view is OK, but unfortunately we didn't encounter good weather. It's a long steep slope from Gora Station. Not recommended if you have a lot of luggage.

I totally recommend it. Just be aware that the onsens are naked and they separate females and males. I recommend to book for a private onsen and you can be with your partner

I opted for a two-meal option and would recommend this place to everyone; I think it's quite good value for money. However, there's no shower in the room, so you have to go to the public bathhouse to shower, and then you can soak in the hot spring. If you don't like soaking in the hot spring with a group, they have private bathhouses available for booking at 3500 yen per hour. I recommend them to everyone

The food was great and the open-air bath was the best. I will visit again. It was near the lake so the atmosphere was good and it was a quiet place so I could rest quietly.

The hotel service is first-class, the room is large enough, clean and hygienic. It is close to the bus station and Taoyuandai Station. The dinner is also very rich. I enjoy soaking in the hot spring. The only drawback is that there is no shower room in the room. I have to go to the large bath every time.

A lovely authentic Japanese experience. Very welcoming hosts. Food was plentiful and to a high standard just not to my Western palate. Very fish orientated. A menu would have been good to help identify some of the dishes. We loved getting dressed into our Yukatas. No Wi-Fi in the room but available in the lounge. Convenient for Hakone station.

A wonderful hot spring experience. The detached Yamabuki private bath was small but very relaxing, washing away the fatigue of Lake Ashi. The tatami bedroom with the river flowing by was comfortable and quiet. I'll definitely come back to Hakone next time.

This was, without a doubt, the best accommodation experience of my life. Everything was wonderful, every aspect was perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the lodge was magnificent. It even had its own spring! The food was also fantastic. This is a Premium high $$$ stay, you will feel very fancy here. The private Onsen is the best I have ever had the pleasure of using (it is 1000% worth the surcharge) The only issues I had with my stay were some inconsistencies with the online posting and the english room instructions they appeared a little out of date (for example they both listed a dinner that was not available for our stay)

Overall, I good experience however there are some strange rules. For example, you cannot enter the hotel for several hours before your check-in at 6pm because they’re cleaning.
