This hotel exceeded my expectations. Even though I had some understanding of it before booking, staying there in person truly revealed the unexpected delights. The hotel is conveniently located near the Tram Palace lower station or the Hotel Zen bus stop, making it accessible even without a car or private charter. Then there's the hotel's architecture, the concierge area, the front desk, the check...
This is my 3rd visit in past 2 years. The hotel is so well maintained, the service is very professional. We enjoyed the japanese set dinner and felt that the portion can be bigger. The Western Breakfast was great and must try. The dining ambience was good.
The room was very comfortable and quiet. There are many places to explore throughout the hotel, and the hot springs are definitely worth a visit, especially in the morning when it's particularly peaceful!
👍👍 Met expectations. It has a real sense of history and the interiors are beautiful. The hot spring was very relaxing.
This hotel has a lot of historical character and is pretty good overall. It has a garden you can stroll through, and there's a bus stop right outside that takes you directly to Odawara Station, which is very convenient. The only downside is you can't see Mount Fuji from here.
Beautiful hotel, loved everything about it, from location to the hotel staff, next time will stay longer, the Japanese breakfast was truly amazing

Good hotel overall, breakfast could have more options. Baths were the best thing here.
The location is super convenient, right next to Hakone-Yumoto Station, just across the bridge. It's a large hotel with spacious rooms and good facilities. The hot springs are great and not too crowded.
Second time staying here. It's very conveniently located for sightseeing and getting back to Tokyo. The food wasn't as good as last time, probably due to rising prices in Japan. Service was satisfactory. Next time, I'll probably skip booking meals.
The room was spacious, very clean, and well-equipped. Since I booked a random room, it really exceeded my expectations. It's very close to the station, making it convenient to get to all the main attractions. I had a very comfortable stay.
Excellent location in Hakone - just opposite the train station and in the middle of Hakone town Rooms have been renovated and modernized Breakfast is fine but the food spread is average. Highly recommended
This hotel once hosted the Emperor. The rooms are spacious, and being nestled in the mountains, the air is rich with negative ions. There's a balcony where you can step out and listen to the gentle sound of water. For our hot spring experience, we opted for a private onsen. Breakfast was a bit crowded, but well-organized. All dinner restaurants require reservations; if you don't have one, the izakaya...

Hotel is abit dated and old by now compared to when I stayed many years ago. Still it’s a relatively clean, nice and comfy hotel, with nice Fuji view in both onsen and surrounding area. Overall it’s a lovely stay and we are happy to be back again.
Hotel location is good connection to obako ropeway station. 3 min walk from the back of hotel. Good dinner and breakfast wt a lot selections.
Worth the room upgrading for a much bigger ryokan room with attached onsen. Fabulous! Food is great too!
Hotel is spaces and nice. Services and facilities was good. Foods just above average, not that fantastic and location was abit inconvenient and too far. Otherwise overall was ok.
Amazing hotel! The rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable. The onsen is large and has beautiful views of Mount Fuji from the women's section, but unfortunately, I couldn't see it from the men's. The food was spectacular; I was surprised by the quality, especially for a buffet. The staff, both at reception and in the restaurant, were very friendly and attentive. The only downside would...
The ryokan style room was clean and cozy, but a bit small for a family of 5. Buffet-style dinner and breakfast were decent, with selection of both Japanese and Western options. Staff were very polite and helpful, front desk staff speaks good English too. Good location for self drive travellers, near to attractions like Owakudani and Open Air Museum. The public bath (both indoor and outdoor) were...

Not bad, pretty good overall, just the food felt a little perfunctory. The outdoor hot springs are great, and transportation is convenient with a bus stop just a short walk away.
Staying for one night with two meals for 2700 yen offered excellent value for money. The open-air bath on the balcony is not a hot spring; it's just hot water. There's one public hot spring and three private hot springs in the garden, which are the real deal. On the first day, I didn't realize our balcony bath was just hot water until I specifically asked the front desk and found out only the first...
The environment is great, but the staff's English isn't very good, and the food is pretty mediocre.
The guy who did the check in was super friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and spotless. I was not too well to go out but the place had every thing I need for relaxing and recovery.
The food was quite mediocre, and the location was inconvenient, but the service was very good.
Coming to Hakone in winter, hot springs are a must! My top choice is definitely a room with a private onsen, perfect for a peaceful moment for two. The private bath is a bit small, just right for one person to soak comfortably. The view from the balcony is beautiful, with lush green maple leaves layered with red and yellow. Dinner and breakfast were decent. However, the sink in the bathroom and the...

The hotel's shuttle bus was very convenient, the room was comfortable, breakfast was exquisite, and the hotel service was excellent. A wonderful memory.
This hotel is nestled in the mountains, and the service was decent. The facilities inside the hotel were all quite clean. Overall, it was good.
This hotel is great for seniors; the hot springs are nice, and while the facilities are a bit old, they're clean. Environment: There aren't many other hotels nearby. Hygiene: It's good; the cleaning staff does a good job.
A very good stay overall. Rooms were a bit dusty and mould on the bathroom ceiling. However staff were excellent and looked after us all the way.
The hotel's shuttle service made getting around incredibly easy. We pre-booked it on Ctrip, and the shuttle to/from Odawara was right on schedule. It also offered flexible pickups and drop-offs at several attractions. After returning to the hotel, a soak in the hot spring was the perfect way to unwind and wash away the day's fatigue.
Spacious room and nice services. The breakfast has a great variety of choices. Hot spring is nice.

The service here is incredibly thoughtful. You can communicate directly if you have any needs, and Mr. Zhang at the reception was meticulously attentive to all our requirements. There's also a laundry service. Most importantly, if you're driving, Hakone can be quite challenging with its narrow roads, so be careful!
The location is a bit secluded.  The staff keep a clean environment.  The service here is excellent.  The facilities are good, however besides onsen and food, there isn't much else to do.  The uncharges are a bit steep
Try it to experience the service and facility.
The service was excellent, professional, and very attentive. The in-room amenities were premium and had a luxurious feel. The towels and hot spring attire were made from high-quality material and felt wonderful. It's an excellent choice for a hot spring inn.
Italian restaurant is so good! Food and View are good! Definitely will back again

Beautiful older style hotel, staff are attentive , baths are beautiful and comfortable beds, amenities is nice too with dyson hsirdryer. Fantastic location. The only downside is room a little outdated with mould on the ceiling and inside the wardrobe.
Great place and very comfortable.
A place stagnate in time, with timeless charm and good environment. Located conveniently nearby to Yumoto Station is a great plus for laid back area of Hakone. Service staff are friendly and attentive to details, and have no difficulty to communicate in English. Recommended for slow pace holiday
Excellent! This onsen ryokan, operating for over 70 years, boasts 9 natural spring sources, a clear testament to its authentic *gensen kakenagashi* (free-flowing hot spring water) system. It's a short, convenient walk from the station. The bamboo grove at the entrance is exquisitely maintained, and we were welcomed by female staff in traditional attire. The gentleman who handled our check-in had a...
The hotel has a very authentic Japanese style. Its interior is also beautiful, making it a perfect spot for photos. A relaxing bath after dinner was perfect for unwinding. My only regret is that my stay was...
The hotel's ambiance was exceptionally comfortable, far exceeding my expectations. I highly recommend the open-air private onsen room; it spares you the awkwardness of public baths, featuring an incredibly spacious room and a private garden. A real taste of Japan. Traditional style rooms were spacious and comfortable. Authentic Japanese breakfast provided samples of many foods. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Shuttle bus was exceptionally convenient. Stay here.
Aura Tachibana is a bit on the older side, but it is well maintained and has a lot of charm. The staff were incredibly kind, attentive, and always willing to help, which really made our stay more enjoyable. The rooms were very clean, spacious, and comfortable, giving us plenty of room to relax. Both dinner and breakfast were good, with a nice variety of dishes and satisfying portions. What really stood...
Probably one of the nicest places I've ever stayed The room was gorgeous, traditional and warm. We had the private outside bath and it was nice and warm, perfect to contrast against the cold mountain air. And the food is incredible, I received the traditional japanese breakfast which was absolutely loaded with seafood and pickled vegetables, and my partner who is allergic to seafood received a lovely...
We spent there 2 nights a couple of weeks ago and had a really nice time. The hotel and restaurant staff were all very kind and helpful, the room was traditional, spacious and nice, the public onsen (indoor + outdoor) was great, too! The food at the restaurant was very well prepared and presented! The staff was very careful with accomodating any dietary restrictions, and also served western type of...
Our stay at Aura Tachibana was an incredible introduction to the magic of a traditional ryokan. The atmosphere was serene and beautifully crafted, and the food was truly on another level — every course felt like a work of art. The kaiseki dinner was absolutely delicious. The hot springs were incredibly relaxing, making this an amazing trip. I went without doing any research beforehand, but at the footbath bar where they serve welcome drinks, a staff member gave me a map and kindly recommended some great places to visit.
First time staying ryokan, was a great experience doing onsen in the room. The place was clean, and enjoyed the free welcome drinks and the foot bath.
Pros: Nice hotel, close to the ski lifts and the train station. There's a great coffee shop across the street and all the sights are very close. The rooms are large and spacious. The service and staff are excellent. Breakfast and dinner are delicious; I'd say there's a lot of food. I also liked the lobby bar. We went for a massage and to the onsen. Cons The rooms have layers of dust on the walls,...
We took a room in the annex. We had a terrace overlooking the valley below. The onsen was on the terrace right next to the showers.
Rooms were quite nice with good views, but rooms tatami flooring was a little worn out, and the wifi was very slow. The public hot springs are small, and there is no view
Great inclusion. The food service place isn’t too flashy making the entire dinning experience a bit lacking. You can book up to 3 private bath session. I used the public bath early in the morning which is great too, had the entire place to myself.

There aren't many hot spring pools, but the outdoor one at the main building offers stunning views of Mount Fuji and the large lake.
Friendly staff and nice view with Fuji mountain. Stay peaceful.
The room was decent, but the view from the first floor wasn't great. I imagine the higher floors would have a better view. The food was good, typical Japanese style, and the service was also good.
The scenery is beautiful, and the location is great, right next to Lake Ashi. The rooms are quite large and the facilities are good. However, staying on the first floor means the view is largely blocked. Also, there's no distinction between the main building and the annex; if you want to book the main building, it seems like all bookings on Ctrip are for the annex. An absolutely amazing experience! I've stayed in countless top-tier hotels over the years, and Gōra Kadan is, without a doubt, the best!
The service was incredibly thoughtful. They offered on-demand shuttle service to all the attractions in Gora, which was a lifesaver, especially avoiding walking in the cold winter. I highly recommend booking a room with a private onsen, as the bookable private baths and the public bath don't compare to the experience of soaking in your own room.
Our stay at this luxury ryokan was simply magnificent in every aspect: the service, atmosphere, grounds, cleanliness, and the genuine care and attention to detail were all exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with the utmost reverence and attentiveness, making us feel like honored guests and part of the ryokan family. As Russian guests, we were particularly impressed by the thoughtful...
Very suitable for family travel!
When we arrived, three hotel staff greeted us and helped us with our luggage. The whole accommodation experience was very good, with thoughtful details and a warm feeling. When we left the hotel, we sat in the lobby to enjoy the view. The manager took the initiative to serve tea and asked about our itinerary and needs. He sent a car to take us to Gora Station. I give it a thumbs up.
When checking in, the hotel will explain the tourist route of Hakone. It's a no-brainer to check in and just follow the map provided by the hotel. The service exceeded my expectations. I felt like a princess returning home during my stay. I thought this was the standard Japanese service. But later I stayed in other hotels and found that the service of Gora Kadan is far better than other hotels of...

Amazing experience here.... One that we will remember fondly for sure !! Amazing experience with the hotel dining in a private room, loved the onsen in our room , only wished we could spend more nights here ! Thank you for making our first Ryokan experience a memorable on
The overall service and facilities were excellent, especially the open-air bath in the room, which was fantastic. It was a bit disappointing, however, that we couldn't arrange dinner on Christmas Eve and had to eat out.
fabulous experience - food was interesting and delicious. the room was lovely looking out to the Mountains with our Private bath... the service was lovely.... I would recommend this as a Ryokan experience. Just use the luggage transfer service from arrival at the Station in Hakone to save you getting your bags up the hill..... its easy to come down when leaving.
The staff were really helpful and really nice The food was great too
The room is really nice and has the sauna in the room. It is really private but when showering you need to sit on the stool to ensure the opposite no one is looking at you

This is the best Ryokan I have visited in Japan. I’d like to stay again soon.
Thank you to the hotel for the surprise flowers 💐 and the thoughtful butler service! They also replied to my emails very quickly, which was great!
The most amazing experience of this trip to Japan... I'll just show you the pictures, words can't describe it. Even the skincare products were exceptionally good; I want to buy some, but I don't know the brand. I saw them at the hotel, please reply!
A top choice for hot springs, with a variety of private baths to satisfy all your needs. The Japanese breakfast and kaiseki dinner were both delicious, with different dishes served on two separate days. It truly lives up to the saying, "Expensive things are good in every way except for the price!" I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Hakone for hot springs.
The highlight of this trip was staying at this hotel. First of all, for hot spring lovers, this hotel has both private baths in the room and private baths that require payment, as well as excellent public hot springs. The hot springs are very unique, with dense bamboo forests outside, creating a beautiful and private environment. The hotel's food is also of excellent quality. Unlike popular buffets...

I didn't get the service I expected. The room was spacious and the amenities were good, but the customer service was a bit off. I felt like they prioritized employees over the customer experience.
While relaxing in the open-air bath in your room, look at the river flowing right next to you, close your eyes and listen to the sound of the flow. Heavenly paradise.
Ordered in a hurry the day before. Many hotels in Hakone, such as Kanaya and Hiramatsu, have been visited, but this hotel has a very good mood, because the baths are from two sources, the rooms are kept clean, and there are many children with children. excellent attitude towards food, the fact that the food, mainly consisting of fish, is not cost-effective, and the sound of the water and the night...

Very impressed with the dinner. Tempanyaki style. Cooked on the spot. Very elaborate dinner with finer details.Treat you like king. Bravo
I had a great stay with my brother. Lovely breakfast and dinner. Facilities were clean and functioning well. Staff was kind and helpful. The location is a bit uphill, prepare to walk on an incline for 5 minutes.
When we arrived, we were given a welcome drink and snacks, and then we took a short break and went into the hot springs. The food was excellent, and the staff were all nice. I would love to stay here again.
This was my third time here and I was once again very satisfied with the consistent service and food. The food in particular was creative and delicious, with dishes that I wouldn't normally be able to eat. I'll definitely come back when I want to relax.
What a beautiful area. Serene environment. Prebooking of hot stone spa and jacuzzi were easily done once registration online was complete.
The hot spring is only public and is charged on top of the room rate. The mountain view is OK, but unfortunately we didn't encounter good weather. It's a long steep slope from Gora Station. Not recommended if you have a lot of luggage.

Since we were on a hot spring trip, the hot spring water was the most important factor in choosing a ryokan. Since the private rooms didn't have bathrooms, the price was relatively low. Beautiful and super comfortable room, they speak good English and the nonsense is a spectacle.
I really enjoyed it. It was my first time at a ryokan. I liked the onsen too, but we didn't take the private one, but the prices were very reasonable. The kaiseki is good. I wish the breakfast had more variety. The main thing is the Friendly tattoo.
It’s a beautiful ryokan with a good onsen. It’s tatoo friendly, it was important for me. There were a lot of the Japaneses, so I think it is also a good sign for the place. Staff knows English very well and dinners and breakfasts was tasty

A lovely authentic Japanese experience. Very welcoming hosts. Food was plentiful and to a high standard just not to my Western palate. Very fish orientated. A menu would have been good to help identify some of the dishes. We loved getting dressed into our Yukatas. No Wi-Fi in the room but available in the lounge. Convenient for Hakone station.
A wonderful hot spring experience. The detached Yamabuki private bath was small but very relaxing, washing away the fatigue of Lake Ashi. The tatami bedroom with the river flowing by was comfortable and quiet. I'll definitely come back to Hakone next time.
Amazing experience of staying in Japanese Ryokan. It is a bit dated but very authentic and enjoyable for couple of nights

The service is very good. I would like to stay a few more days. The environment is very good
This building, built in 1890, offers a complete immersion into the country's culture and history. Excellent service, wonderful onsen, and delicious meals.
A very classic Japanese hot spring hotel, but the room is really a bit old, the maintenance is not very good, and the surrounding area is also boring
This is our favorite hotel during our 10-day trip to Japan. It is like a journey through time and space. The service provided by the hostess is refreshing and unforgettable!
This is an old hotel that started in 1890. It feels like living in history. The reception staff is very warm and thoughtful. There are 6 hot springs that I really like. The dinner is also very exquisite.
