Then there's the hotel's architecture, the concierge area, the front desk, the check-in guide, the shared bar, the rooms, the bathrooms (with optional spa), breakfast (with optional Japanese breakfast at Kikuka-so), the entertainment area (including a swimming pool), the wedding chapel area, the art gallery, the pastry shop, and so much more to explore and experience
Over the almost 150-year history of the hotel’s existence, a huge number of famous people have stayed here (Einstein, John Lennon and his wife, Charlie Chaplin, kings, emperors
This hotel exceeded my expectations. Even though I had some understanding of it before booking, staying there in person truly revealed the unexpected delights
The hotel is conveniently located near the Tram Palace lower station or the Hotel Zen bus stop, making it accessible even without a car or private charter
The room was very comfortable and quiet. There are many places to explore throughout the hotel, and the hot springs are definitely worth a visit, especially in the morning when it's particularly peaceful!
This is my 3rd visit in past 2 years. The hotel is so well maintained, the service is very professional. We enjoyed the japanese set dinner and felt that the portion can be bigger

The room was spacious, very clean, and well-equipped. Since I booked a random room, it really exceeded my expectations. It's very close to the station, making it convenient to get to all the main attractions
It's very conveniently located for sightseeing and getting back to Tokyo. The food wasn't as good as last time, probably due to rising prices in Japan. Next time, I'll probably skip booking meals
The hotel's biggest advantage is its location; you can see it as soon as you get off the train and it's less than a 5-minute walk away. However, at over 3,000 yen a night, the value for money is a bit low
Good hotel overall, breakfast could have more options. Baths were the best thing here.
The location is super convenient, right next to Hakone-Yumoto Station, just across the bridge. It's a large hotel with spacious rooms and good facilities. The hot springs are great and not too crowded.
After exiting the station, we crossed the pedestrian bridge, took the elevator down to the river, and walked across the red bridge, and there was the hotel. The path is very flat, perfect for those traveling with luggage

The wagyu and teppanyaki shrimp was delicious! The onsen and ofuro has quality water tapped from Hakone volcano and soothes aching muscles and makes skin soft
The hotel has a beautiful environment, especially the Japanese garden 🏡 which is incredibly picturesque
We came in January when the weather dropped to 0c and the room had heaters. The onsen is beautiful and natural. And the receptionists are very polite and happy. We loved happy people that makes your money well spend
We stayed in a few Ryokans but this Yoshiike Ryokan is the best because the room have large window that allow fresh mountain air to flow into the room and the futons are incredibly comfortable and warmed
Even though it's winter, the plum blossoms and cherry blossoms 🌸 in the courtyard are already in bloom, making for a pleasant stroll. There are also many cultural relics
Since we didn't opt for a meal, the two futons were already laid out for us quite early

We came from Kamakura and it took a long time to get here. The bus journey involved a lot of winding mountain roads, and I almost got carsick
It's also conveniently located on the route to Taoyuantai, where you can catch the cable car
The hotel is divided into a South Wing and a North Wing, with the restaurant and hot spring located in separate buildings. The hot spring area is quite spacious. Free parking and internet access are provided
The package including two meals was pretty good value for money. You can send your luggage to the hotel from Yumoto Station. Dinner was a buffet, which was decent, but I personally prefer Japanese Kaiseki cuisine
😊 The hot spring is large and has an outdoor section. Overall, it offers good value for money
The room facilities are a bit old, but well-maintained. The room itself is quite spacious. There are multiple hot spring pools, both indoor and outdoor. The downside is the inconvenient transportation

The guy who did the check in was super friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and spotless. I was not too well to go out but the place had every thing I need for relaxing and recovery.
The private bath is a bit small, just right for one person to soak comfortably. The view from the balcony is beautiful, with lush green maple leaves layered with red and yellow. Dinner and breakfast were decent
All the hotel staff were attentive and meticulous, and their English was good. The shuttle bus goes to Kowakidani train station, not the bus stop, so make sure not to get on the wrong one
My second stay in this hotel, staffs are friendly, foods are great. For those who is coming the first time, please take the train from station 51 and get off at station 55 (Kowakidani)
On the first day, I didn't realize our balcony bath was just hot water until I specifically asked the front desk and found out only the first and second-floor rooms have hot springs
Not bad, pretty good overall, just the food felt a little perfunctory. The outdoor hot springs are great, and transportation is convenient with a bus stop just a short walk away.

This hotel is great for seniors; the hot springs are nice, and while the facilities are a bit old, they're clean. Environment: There aren't many other hotels nearby. Hygiene: It's good; the cleaning staff does a good job
The hotel's shuttle service made getting around incredibly easy. We pre-booked it on Ctrip, and the shuttle to/from Odawara was right on schedule. It also offered flexible pickups and drop-offs at several attractions
Great hotel. Service and amenities amazing (except no gym). Thought the rooms was well designed to provide good rest. In my opinion the breakfast was the star. Top Notch!! All in all great experience.
for those who want to run away from busy city life, this establishment offers a good escape. even though single pool onsen, it was enjoyable. spa service was good.
The hotel's shuttle bus was very convenient, the room was comfortable, breakfast was exquisite, and the hotel service was excellent. A wonderful memory.
After returning to the hotel, a soak in the hot spring was the perfect way to unwind and wash away the day's fatigue

It was fresh! However, the unwavering number one is the whipped butter! The dessert is refreshing both in the evening and in the morning, and it's wonderful!
The service here is incredibly thoughtful. You can communicate directly if you have any needs, and Mr. Zhang at the reception was meticulously attentive to all our requirements. There's also a laundry service
Most importantly, if you're driving, Hakone can be quite challenging with its narrow roads, so be careful!
Overall, if this hotel is located in the city center, it can be considered. The breakfast is Western, but the taste is very ordinary. Although the dinner is a one-star Michelin hotel, it is still a little disappointing
The service was excellent, professional, and very attentive. The in-room amenities were premium and had a luxurious feel. The towels and hot spring attire were made from high-quality material and felt wonderful
This hotel is the last one in Hakone. Fortunately, it is the last one because it is a bit far from the attractions in Hakone. Although it is only 10 kilometers, the transportation in Hakone is not convenient

The breakfast was great, a small main hot entree and unlimited sides, such as breads, salads, fruits, and drinks. The only downside is the lack of AC during the winter
There are limited restaurants nearby the hotel, but there's an excellent Indian place right next door, a Japanese food truck that makes great grilled chicken yakotori, wagyu beef, and a Mediterranean that i didn't have an opportunity to try
Beautiful hotel with a perfect view of the lake and right next to public transportation options. The deluxe lake view room was huge and very clean
The location is perfect for getting on the lake cruise, which takes you to the shrine in 5 minutes, the cable car in 25 minutes, which goes onward to the steam vents
Paid for an expensive lake view room but they gave us one which is the worst one. Furthermore the aircon was not working and it was stifling in the room
Breakfast was a bit average; however, if you don't want to eat at a convenience store, it's probably better to book it. The view from the window was great, but it was pitch black at night. Overall, a very good experience

Hotel staff were the best I've ever had to experience, extremely helpful and friendly even if I didn't speak the language they put in the effort to communicate in my native tongue
Beautiful older style hotel, staff are attentive , baths are beautiful and comfortable beds, amenities is nice too with dyson hsirdryer
The hot spring water was continuously flowing, and a notice on the wall detailed its composition, stating that only water was added to lower the temperature, along with chlorine for disinfection, and crucially, no circulation system was used
This is significant because many other onsen ryokans might offer beautiful gardens, attractive prices, and even private indoor baths, but a closer look often reveals they might just be using plain heated water or circulated onsen water
The gentleman who handled our check-in had a wonderfully distinctive charm. Our room was very spacious, with large floor-to-ceiling windows offering stunning views of the river and distant mountains – truly beautiful
We had booked a Japanese-style room with a semi-open-air private bath, including the 'one night, two meals' plan. Before dinner, an attendant came to greet us, and then the elaborate multi-course kaiseki meal was served
The hotel and restaurant staff were all very kind and helpful, the room was traditional, spacious and nice, the public onsen (indoor + outdoor) was great, too!
The food at the restaurant was very well prepared and presented! The staff was very careful with accomodating any dietary restrictions, and also served western type of breakfast upon request
Aura Tachibana is a bit on the older side, but it is well maintained and has a lot of charm. The staff were incredibly kind, attentive, and always willing to help, which really made our stay more enjoyable
In our experience, many Japanese places are not able to adjust meals for allergies, so this level of care and flexibility was especially appreciated and made us feel well looked after
The whole experience genuinely felt comparable to dining in a Michelin-star restaurant, both in quality and care. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a refined and memorable ryokan stay
And the food is incredible, I received the traditional japanese breakfast which was absolutely loaded with seafood and pickled vegetables, and my partner who is allergic to seafood received a lovely western style breakfast
Probably one of the nicest places I've ever stayed
The room was gorgeous, traditional and warm. We had the private outside bath and it was nice and warm, perfect to contrast against the cold mountain air
Hakone, 1300 Gora Hakone-Machi (7 km from centre) 🧭 Map
I could do a bit of work comfortably in the rooms while resting. They have a bunch of amenities at the lobby, you could make tea, coffee, get some ice cream and bring them to your rooms
The onsen are great, the outdoor private bathtub is great, but the water cools off pretty quickly in winter. The room is very spacious and they also provide an extra futon
Parking at the hotel was very convenient. I heard the room rates are usually quite high, but I booked it on Ctrip for just over 1400
The entrance is right in front of Gora Station, so transportation wouldn't be an issue. Plenty of shops and places to eat around the station, but they close pretty early
The front desk staff can speak English and explained everything clearly, from the type of onsen, the bathing hours, meals, and how to get to our rooms (it was in a separate building)
Every dish of the Kaiseki dinner was a work of art – so delicious I almost danced with joy. I felt so well taken care of from check-in to check-out. It's truly introvert-friendly, no awkwardness at all

I went without doing any research beforehand, but at the footbath bar where they serve welcome drinks, a staff member gave me a map and kindly recommended some great places to visit
Really love the big room we had and having our own onsen in the bathroom but the shower was not hot sadly 😔
Love that so many yukada are available to use freely 🥰 and the closet is pretty wide too 😁
Would be good to have more table space 😔
Just 2 min walk from the station. Staff very accommodating, especially for English speaking guests. Restaurant food was really good. Small portions but surprisingly filling! Loved our waited
The room was fantastic - really big, the shower alone was bigger than a hotel rooms whole bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and there was a balcony with nice view to the mountains
Really great for taking some time off and sitting with a coffee from the rooms own coffee machine (tea also available). We've enjoyed the private onsen and 'stonebed' spa a lot
First time staying ryokan, was a great experience doing onsen in the room. The place was clean, and enjoyed the free welcome drinks and the foot bath.

Was easy to get to (bus J from Odawara station (expected 50 minutes but took over an hour due to traffic jams near ropeway late morning time). Short easy 5 minute walk from bus stop to hotel (ignore other reviews)
Amazing hotel! The rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable. The onsen is large and has beautiful views of Mount Fuji from the women's section, but unfortunately, I couldn't see it from the men's
The ryokan style room was clean and cozy, but a bit small for a family of 5. Buffet-style dinner and breakfast were decent, with selection of both Japanese and Western options
Staff were very polite and helpful, front desk staff speaks good English too. Good location for self drive travellers, near to attractions like Owakudani and Open Air Museum
The food was spectacular; I was surprised by the quality, especially for a buffet. The staff, both at reception and in the restaurant, were very friendly and attentive
Worth the room upgrading for a much bigger ryokan room with attached onsen. Fabulous! Food is great too!

The scenery is beautiful, and the location is great, right next to Lake Ashi. The rooms are quite large and the facilities are good. However, staying on the first floor means the view is largely blocked
Great location, rooms with views of Mount Fuji. Dinner included multi-course traditional Japanese cuisine. Onsen with a view of Mount Fuji. The standard of the ryokan is beyond praise. We will definitely return. A+++
The room was decent, but the view from the first floor wasn't great. I imagine the higher floors would have a better view. The food was good, typical Japanese style, and the service was also good.
Also, there's no distinction between the main building and the annex; if you want to book the main building, it seems like all bookings on Ctrip are for the annex
There aren't many hot spring pools, but the outdoor one at the main building offers stunning views of Mount Fuji and the large lake.
Friendly staff and nice view with Fuji mountain. Stay peaceful.
Setting: The hotel is nestled in the mountains, offering fresh air and quiet nights. It's also near a small river and waterfall. It's also conveniently located near attractions like Hakone Shrine and Lake Ashi
The hotel's indoor and outdoor hot springs are very clean, and soaking in the water while listening to the gentle cascade outside was a relaxing experience
Facilities: The hotel's overall decor is relatively new, and the rooms are significantly larger than similarly priced hotels in Tokyo
Service: The staff were attentive, the breakfast was plentiful, and lunch and dinner reservations were available
This superb hotel writes HOSPITALITY in capitals. Everything is focused at the guests wellbeing. And when a problem occurs it is solved with a smile 😀. Staff is super friendly, the onsen is great.
RECOMENDED!
Although this hotel is far away from the central area of Hakone
But the room is very spacious
The bathhouse is very big
And next to the beautiful waterfall
It’s worth the higher price
The service attitude and feeling are very good. It is very suitable for traveling with the elders. It is more suitable for relaxation without noisy children.
The independent hot spring in the room is very pleasant. It is hidden in a bamboo forest. I also recommend the breakfast and dinner at the hotel. If you stay, be sure to include double meals
The room is clean and the facilities are excellent. You must choose the double-board package. The breakfast is amazing and the dinner is pretty normal
In addition, this hotel is quite primitive and there will be some noise when you sleep at night

This was my fourth visit, following my first in July this year. It's not too hot and not too cold, so it may be just the right season for a hot spring. This time, too, I enjoyed a dinner that lived up to my expectations
The fish was a grouper dish, and the texture was similar to pufferfish, and it had a complex flavor that was good. The fish appetizer was a surprise. I was surprised that my wife and I had different plates for our food
My wife had pacific saury, and I had flounder. When I asked why the dishes were different, she said that she had heard that the husband doesn't like blue fish
The main dish is usually beef, but this time it was duck. The meat was cooked to perfection, and the saltiness and gravy were a taste that I can't describe
Very quiet, luxurious hotel with only 14 rooms. Fabulous dinner and breakfast. We had an open air private onsen. Expected a typical autumn scenery with trees changing color but a little disappointed
It might be better in spring, with fresh green vegitation
A beautifully designed hotel with a serene atmosphere. I loved the onsen facilities, especially having both private and public baths to choose from. The surroundings were so quiet that I slept incredibly well
The hotel is a 5–6 minute walk from Gora Station, making it convenient for exploring the area. They offer welcome drinks and snacks, along with complimentary coffee and beverages
This is a very spacious onsen ryokan with a kids' book corner and a manga nook. The private onsen baths are free of charge, making it perfect for family trips, though they are quite popular and require a queue
The hotel's overall environment is quite good, and the transportation is also convenient, making it suitable for friends visiting Hakone for the first time
The hotel facilities are complete, and the lounge on the second floor is open 24 hours. You can go there to have some drinks and chat, and it's all free
I had a wonderful stay at Hakone Yutowa. The hotel was very clean, and the atmosphere felt warm and cozy—especially perfect during the winter season

One that we will remember fondly for sure !!
Amazing experience with the hotel dining in a private room, loved the onsen in our room , only wished we could spend more nights here !
Thank you for making our first Ryokan experience a memorable on
The overall service and facilities were excellent, especially the open-air bath in the room, which was fantastic. It was a bit disappointing, however, that we couldn't arrange dinner on Christmas Eve and had to eat out.
interesting balinese onsen ryokan. service was great, i couldn’t take raw food and my husband is allergic to prawns and they took notice for it and didn’t serve them during our half board meals (breakfast and dinner)
the onsen water is certified to be natural and we could read the details of the certification from both the hotel reception and room toilet. the private in room open air onsen’s temperature can be adjusted as well
however the room’s shower’s door was not completely sealed and we found it very chilly to bathe even tho there was hot water supplied as the constant cold air from outside would come in
fabulous experience - food was interesting and delicious. the room was lovely looking out to the Mountains with our Private bath. I would recommend this as a Ryokan experience

Our stay at this luxury ryokan was simply magnificent in every aspect: the service, atmosphere, grounds, cleanliness, and the genuine care and attention to detail were all exceptional
I highly recommend booking a room with a private onsen, as the bookable private baths and the public bath don't compare to the experience of soaking in your own room
From the moment we arrived, we were treated with the utmost reverence and attentiveness, making us feel like honored guests and part of the ryokan family
The Gora Kadan was the perfect end to our three week stay in Japan, it's the first place we'd recommend to anyone else interested in visiting Japan
An absolutely amazing experience! I've stayed in countless top-tier hotels over the years, and Gōra Kadan is, without a doubt, the best!
The service was incredibly thoughtful. They offered on-demand shuttle service to all the attractions in Gora, which was a lifesaver, especially avoiding walking in the cold winter
