Hakone, 1244-2 Sengokuhara Hakone-machi (7 km from centre) 🧭 Map
Hotel is abit dated and old by now compared to when I stayed many years ago. Still it’s a relatively clean, nice and comfy hotel, with nice Fuji view in both onsen and surrounding area. Overall it’s a lovely stay and we are happy to be back again.
Hotel location is good connection to obako ropeway station. 3 min walk from the back of hotel. Good dinner and breakfast wt a lot selections.
Worth the room upgrading for a much bigger ryokan room with attached onsen. Fabulous! Food is great too!
Hotel is spaces and nice. Services and facilities was good. Foods just above average, not that fantastic and location was abit inconvenient and too far. Otherwise overall was ok.
Amazing hotel! The rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable. The onsen is large and has beautiful views of Mount Fuji from the women's section, but unfortunately, I couldn't see it from the men's. The food was spectacular; I was surprised by the quality, especially for a buffet. The staff, both at reception and in the restaurant, were very friendly and attentive. The only downside would...
The ryokan style room was clean and cozy, but a bit small for a family of 5. Buffet-style dinner and breakfast were decent, with selection of both Japanese and Western options.
Staff were very polite and helpful, front desk staff speaks good English too.
Good location for self drive travellers, near to attractions like Owakudani and Open Air Museum.
The public bath (both indoor and outdoor) were...

The package including two meals was pretty good value for money. You can send your luggage to the hotel from Yumoto Station. Dinner was a buffet, which was decent, but I personally prefer Japanese Kaiseki cuisine. 😊 The hot spring is large and has an outdoor section. Overall, it offers good value for money.
The room size was very big. But it’s rather old; many cigarette butts on the balcony floor so we didn’t even want to step out. Each time someone flushed the toilet it gave out such loud noise, which sound like a jet engine. It really needed some upgrade.
The onsen was the highlight of the stay. Very nice and relaxing. Breakfast was decent with many choices. Location wise it is rather far from the...
The location is quite convenient, and the food is good compare the price.
It has a very large space for the room. Staff were efficient and friendly.
The hotel is divided into a South Wing and a North Wing, with the restaurant and hot spring located in separate buildings. The hot spring area is quite spacious. Free parking and internet access are provided. Overall, it's pretty decent.
The room facilities are a bit old, but well-maintained. The room itself is quite spacious. There are multiple hot spring pools, both indoor and outdoor. The downside is the inconvenient transportation. We came from Kamakura and it took a long time to get here. The bus journey involved a lot of winding mountain roads, and I almost got carsick.

Not bad, pretty good overall, just the food felt a little perfunctory. The outdoor hot springs are great, and transportation is convenient with a bus stop just a short walk away.
Staying for one night with two meals for 2700 yen offered excellent value for money. The open-air bath on the balcony is not a hot spring; it's just hot water. There's one public hot spring and three private hot springs in the garden, which are the real deal. On the first day, I didn't realize our balcony bath was just hot water until I specifically asked the front desk and found out only the first...
The environment is great, but the staff's English isn't very good, and the food is pretty mediocre.
The guy who did the check in was super friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and spotless. I was not too well to go out but the place had every thing I need for relaxing and recovery.
The food was quite mediocre, and the location was inconvenient, but the service was very good.
Coming to Hakone in winter, hot springs are a must! My top choice is definitely a room with a private onsen, perfect for a peaceful moment for two. The private bath is a bit small, just right for one person to soak comfortably. The view from the balcony is beautiful, with lush green maple leaves layered with red and yellow. Dinner and breakfast were decent. However, the sink in the bathroom and the...

Beautiful older style hotel, staff are attentive , baths are beautiful and comfortable beds, amenities is nice too with dyson hsirdryer.
Fantastic location.
The only downside is room a little outdated with mould on the ceiling and inside the wardrobe.
Great place and very comfortable.
A place stagnate in time, with timeless charm and good environment. Located conveniently nearby to Yumoto Station is a great plus for laid back area of Hakone. Service staff are friendly and attentive to details, and have no difficulty to communicate in English. Recommended for slow pace holiday
Excellent! This onsen ryokan, operating for over 70 years, boasts 9 natural spring sources, a clear testament to its authentic *gensen kakenagashi* (free-flowing hot spring water) system. It's a short, convenient walk from the station. The bamboo grove at the entrance is exquisitely maintained, and we were welcomed by female staff in traditional attire. The gentleman who handled our check-in had a...
The hotel has a very authentic Japanese style. Its interior is also beautiful, making it a perfect spot for photos. Both meals provided were Japanese-style; after booking a specific time, guests are escorted to a private dining room to enjoy them. The dishes were beautifully presented and a feast for the eyes. A relaxing bath after dinner was perfect for unwinding. My only regret is that my stay was...
The hotel's ambiance was exceptionally comfortable, far exceeding my expectations. I highly recommend the open-air private onsen room; it spares you the awkwardness of public baths, featuring an incredibly spacious room and a private garden. The room rate included both breakfast and a traditional kaiseki dinner. The meals were exquisitely prepared, and dinner was accompanied by a traditional Japanese...

Everything was nice, few steps away from train station.
Not so many trains at night so the noise isn't really a problem.
Nice bath.
Good location and staffs are friendly.
Excellent location, and the staff are friendly. The hotel is a bit old, but it's clean.
The price is cheap, but the food is incredibly delicious. With all-you-can-eat roast beef, it's a fantastic deal.
Excellent location, just next to train station and bus terminal. The onsen was definitely a " plus". Highly recommended.

The hotel service was excellent, and any problems were resolved promptly.
The room is decorated in a Japanese style and is very spacious. Each room has a private onsen bath.
Setting: The hotel is nestled in the mountains, offering fresh air and quiet nights. It's also near a small river and waterfall. It's also conveniently located near attractions like Hakone Shrine and Lake Ashi.

This superb hotel writes HOSPITALITY in capitals. Everything is focused at the guests wellbeing. And when a problem occurs it is solved with a smile 😀. Staff is super friendly, the onsen is great.
RECOMENDED!
We had a Japanese style room, which was very spaceous. Our view was excellent, nice Onsen, good food and super friendly staff!!!
We lost our wallet in the hotel and they send it after us to our Next hotel the same Day! Thank you for the very pleasant stay!

Since we were on a hot spring trip, the hot spring water was the most important factor in choosing a ryokan. Since the private rooms didn't have bathrooms, the price was relatively low. Since we were traveling with my daughters and staying on a Sunday, the communal hot spring was quiet, which was great. The hot spring water made my skin smooth. The Glass Museum is nearby, and after the Togendai Port...
Good service & nice room with friendly staff
Beautiful and super comfortable room, they speak good English and the nonsense is a spectacle.
I really enjoyed it. It was my first time at a ryokan. I liked the onsen too, but we didn't take the private one, but the prices were very reasonable. The kaiseki is good. I wish the breakfast had more variety. The main thing is the Friendly tattoo.
It’s a beautiful ryokan with a good onsen. It’s tatoo friendly, it was important for me. There were a lot of the Japaneses, so I think it is also a good sign for the place. Staff knows English very well and dinners and breakfasts was tasty
It was an amazing experience. Very high quality service, insanely delicious kaiseki dinner and breakfast. Booked a private onsen for 45 min, unbelievable! Very authentic. There is a staff that speaks English.

The kaiseki dinner was absolutely delicious. The hot springs were incredibly relaxing, making this an amazing trip. I went without doing any research beforehand, but at the footbath bar where they serve welcome drinks, a staff member gave me a map and kindly recommended some great places to visit.
First time staying ryokan, was a great experience doing onsen in the room. The place was clean, and enjoyed the free welcome drinks and the foot bath.
Pros:
Nice hotel, close to the ski lifts and the train station. There's a great coffee shop across the street and all the sights are very close. The rooms are large and spacious. The service and staff are excellent. Breakfast and dinner are delicious; I'd say there's a lot of food. I also liked the lobby bar. We went for a massage and to the onsen.
Cons
The rooms have layers of dust on the walls,...
We took a room in the annex.
We had a terrace overlooking the valley below.
The onsen was on the terrace right next to the showers.
Rooms were quite nice with good views, but rooms tatami flooring was a little worn out, and the wifi was very slow. The public hot springs are small, and there is no view
Great inclusion. The food service place isn’t too flashy making the entire dinning experience a bit lacking. You can book up to 3 private bath session. I used the public bath early in the morning which is great too, had the entire place to myself.

Absolutely fabulous. The finest hotel, the finest services, the best hotspring setvice and superb food. Will always want to come back.
Our family of four stayed here in the suite. Experience was fantastic in every way.
Service was top notch from the moment you step foot until you leave.
Rooms were as expected; clean, comfortable beddings (both mattress and futon), and the view was picturesque.
Both private and public onsen was great. Not many people in the public onsen when I was there. Public onsen has outdoor portions which was...
Wonderful experience. The rooms and views are fantastic, and the staff goes above and beyond to help. Thank you!!
Ryokan with a modern twist. Appreciate the convenience of an in room onsen in our suite. Have all the modern conveniences and yet have a ryokan experience. Kaiseki dinners in partitioned enclosures lent some privacy.
Everything about the stay here was exceptional. Staff were incredibly well mannered and couldn't do enough to help us. We were able to get a pick up from Gora station to the hotel, and found it to be an easy experience.
They gave a quick tour of facilities upon check-in, even an escort to the room. Carried baggage from driveway and deposited to our room. I was the only one in the public bath at 5pm. The meals were amazing. While unable to accommodate gluten free diet with traditional cooking, they were very kind in informing which dishes had gluten. 5/5 you should stay here

We loved having our own onsen to enjoy and it was wonderful to enjoy traditional meals. There is a free shuttle bus from Hakone Yumoto station to Hakone Yuyo hot spring resort which is right across the street from the hotel that we were able to use. If you have large luggage the shuttle bus doesn't work because it has no luggage storage. It was a short walk to the train to start our Hakone Loop journey...
The food is good, the location requires a walk or a taxi. Comfort Inn
The hotel is in a great location. You can take the free shuttle bus to the Hakone Yuryo next door. The front desk manager is Chinese.
Both dinner and breakfast are very rich, 🉑so it is worth the money~
The traditional Riokan Onsen experience was awesome in this place. The rooms are newly renovated, we had a private onsen with mountain view., the food was amazing and the service was great. It’s was a bit pricey but was worth the experience.
Since it gets dark in Japan as early as 5.30 pm we were in for an adventure trip to find this destination. The owners gave us the warmest welcome after arriving late and after a long day of traveling. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Love the big bathtub for soaking after a long day of travel. Clean, spacious, comfortable rooms. Run by a very kind couple who took excellent care of us and even offered to take our luggage to our next stay nearby.
Hosts are so nice and speak English as well. The rooms are spacious and have little trinkets. Bathrooms are nice and clean. I don’t have anything bad to say at all. Absolutely perfect!! Thank you

It's a bit disappointing that there's no convenience store nearby, but everything else was fine.
Highly recommended, traditional Japanese style hotel with silk soup. The hotel offers two time slots for dinner at 6pm and 6:30pm every night, and two time slots for breakfast at 8:00am and 8:30am. If you see the standard of their meals, you will understand why they require exact meal times, because their meals are not business hotel buffets, but Kaiseki cuisine level. The hotel is located near the station, small and beautiful. Hot springs and dinner and breakfast were very nice.
The Japanese-style room was damp and cold, but when I tried to turn on the air conditioner for heating, I could smell mold, maybe it hadn't been cleaned.
The room is very big, very quiet, has a separate hot spring bath, very clean, the dinner is amazing, I like it very much, the landlady is very gentle and kind
Approximately 15 minutes from Hakone Yumoto Station
It is a small hotel, suitable for a quiet rest.
Kaiseki cuisine was delicious and the staff were friendly.
After using the open-air hot spring for 40 minutes without disturbing others, we had dinner.
The changing area at the open-air hot spring is old and needs improvement.
I had a good rest
Japanese style, just so-so, may not be suitable for Chinese people
Hygiene: clean
Environment: OK
Service: The private soup is good, recommended. Breakfast and dinner were not satisfactory. There was no fruit or ice cream at this price, and there was no milk or eggs for breakfast. This hotel is still very stingy.

Very impressed with the dinner. Tempanyaki style. Cooked on the spot. Very elaborate dinner with finer details.Treat you like king. Bravo
I had a great stay with my brother.
Lovely breakfast and dinner.
Facilities were clean and functioning well.
Staff was kind and helpful.
The location is a bit uphill, prepare to walk on an incline for 5 minutes.
When we arrived, we were given a welcome drink and snacks, and then we took a short break and went into the hot springs. The food was excellent, and the staff were all nice. I would love to stay here again.
This was my third time here and I was once again very satisfied with the consistent service and food.
The food in particular was creative and delicious, with dishes that I wouldn't normally be able to eat.
I'll definitely come back when I want to relax.
What a beautiful area. Serene environment. Prebooking of hot stone spa and jacuzzi were easily done once registration online was complete.
The hot spring is only public and is charged on top of the room rate.
The mountain view is OK, but unfortunately we didn't encounter good weather.
It's a long steep slope from Gora Station. Not recommended if you have a lot of luggage.

Lovely experience staying here. Our Wa Fuu room was modern, clean and provisioned with exquisitely comfortable floor-beds, as well a constantly-flowing private onsen with well-kept shower fixtures and tiling. Sweeping view of the mountains from both the room and bath. Room food service was convenient and the "set" meals were delicious. Bravo!
Literally my first onsen experience in Japan. I feel relaxed sitting in the private onsen connected to our room. My sore muscles got much better after onsen! Amazing! Japanese dinners and breakfasts are very good too!

I went on a two-day, one-night hot springs trip from Tokyo to Hakone!
My boyfriend and I were looking for a casual, two-day trip, and we decided on Hakone, a tourist destination with great hot springs and fresh air.

The most amazing experience of this trip to Japan... I'll just show you the pictures, words can't describe it. Even the skincare products were exceptionally good; I want to buy some, but I don't know the brand. I saw them at the hotel, please reply!

Excellent! Very Japanese. If you want to experience Japanese culture, give this a try.
The room was tiny, nothing like the pictures! There wasn't even space to put our luggage...
The public onsen was just a plain pool, completely lacking any ambiance or nice surroundings.
We paid extra for a private onsen, but it was only good for photos... (And you could even see the hotel across the way while soaking).

Hakone Suimeisou, although not cheap, is truly a great value-for-money onsen ryokan in Hakone when you consider its location, facilities, ambiance, and service. The hot springs are genuine, and both the room and meals are very high-class. It would be even better if it were a bit more affordable.
The biggest advantage is probably its proximity to Yumoto Station. You don't even need to go upstairs from the second floor; just walk to the end, turn left, take the elevator down, walk forward, turn left, and you're there in two minutes.

An unforgettable stay. From the moment of arrival to departure, we experienced the highest level of service and attention to detail. Our room and private onsen were extremely comfortable. The dinner and breakfast were the best food we had during our stay in Japan. We will absolutely return and in the meantime highly recommend Hakone Suishoen to the discerning traveler.
We got the two floor marionette room. The private onsen is a game changer for me and my family. My toddler enjoyed the peaceful grounds. It is a close walk to Yunesson park if you have kids that want to water play. Their keiseki dinner meal was delicious and they even set up a bed for our toddler who used it almost as soon as we arrived. The breakfast was also delicious. Would come again.

We had a great experience there. Our room it was huge and clean, had a balcony, dinner room, tatami bedroom and a complete bathroom.
We took a bus to get there, the road was auper tight and without sidewalk, a bit scary.
There's a mini market around, like 5 min walk.
I've read many negative reviews on this hotel, but I don't see why. There are tons of amenities which many hotels of this price lack (i paid around 28000 jpy per night). And honestly this hotel was the cheapest available for my dates.
Despite of what people say:
The rooms ARE spacious.
