Lovely ryokan in a serene setting. Although it’s in a relatively remote area it’s easy enough to get to from the closest Shinkansen station by bus if you don’t have a car and is only a 3-4 minute walk from the bus stop.
The outdoor onsen was very pleasant, especially when surrounded by the snowy scenery. There’s also a semi-open air bath that you can reserve for yourself and any companions for a certain period of time per day; the other baths are divided into male and female baths, however.
The food was delicious and the staff were excellent; my partner has quite a few allergies, the allergens of which tend to unfortunately appear quite often in traditional kaiseki style dishes, but the staff were very careful to offer substitutes for the dishes she was allergic to.
They were also kind enough to take us to our destination on our day of departure as it was quite far from the nearest bus stop and it had snowed quite a lot the night before.
I would definitely recommend this ryokan if you’re looking to take it easy in the Nasu highlands for a few nights.

An old-style hot spring hotel with good service

It was a fabulous stay. This Onsen hotel may be small but the staff tried the very best to assist you. The traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast were fantastic. The Onsen was also really good - they would also allocate a private timeslot for you to enjoy some solo time.

Very beautiful old ryokan. We got a room with a private bath that was very warm and the scene outside was nice. The bigger outdoor bath has a great view! The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming☺️

Very good place for rest after hiking in the mountains

Lovely staff, not crowded, gave us 1 free hour use of a private, cozy onsen with a window that over looks a stream, free wifi, great dinner and breakfast, free massage chairs, they offered us one free ride to wherever we wanted upon checking out, and gave us each a free bus ticket. Tucked away from the main street but easy to walk to from the Shin-Nasu bus stop. Highly recommended for a relaxing ryokan experience
