Reviews
The hotel is very unique with all the dinosaurs around the place which start moving and roaring when you approach them. Fantastic for the kids.
Also very unique is the swimming pool which we had for two hours completely alone. Unfortunately not everything is well maintained and I'm afraid that they cannot keep the pool open with just a few guests per night.
The rooms were nice but very cold when you switch off the air conditioning (and we had one of the newly renewed dinosaur rooms).
Dinner buffet is great with a very wide choice. Quality is not always the very best but at least you have options.
Unfortunately breakfast buffet is poor, dry bread which tasted (and probably was) 3 days old, western choice very limited but also the Japanese food wasn't topnotch.
But then you check out and all the dinosaurs come to life and your kid gets excited and that was worth the stay (an expensive one though).
It was great that we could relax in the hot springs even after checking out!
We went as a couple, but there were a lot of people with children, so we thought it was nice that we could spend time there without having to worry about our surroundings.
I would definitely like to stay here again.
I stayed with my baby and toddler,
and there were baby chairs in the dining area, a baby bath in the bathroom, and a kids' space,
so I would especially recommend this place for families with children!
There was also a pool, which was great!
We stayed for 3 nights during the Obon period (probably the most crowded time of the year) and had a great time overall thanks to the lovely service and would recommend to families with kids.
Location is a bit awkward, you have to go through a couple of very narrow roads to get there.
However it was very convenient to visit different attractions: Nasu Highland Park, Teddy bear museum, Minamigaoka dairy farm, the ropeway were all about 15-20' away by car. Definitely best to have a car than using public transport.
The hotel is a bit dated, lighting and decor feels a bit old overall, but not too rundown. The room had a bit of a musty smell, especially since it was raining. The bathrooms are small but functional enough.
We booked a plan with breakfast and dinner included and they were both really tasty. Dinner had some really tasty meat shabushabu one night and sukiyaki the other night + mostly cold dishes buffet with some kid friendly choices too.
Drinks were included for kids but not adults for dinner. We had plans in the evening one night so asked if we could remove the dinner but they weren't able to which was unfortunate.
The pool feels old too but the kids loved it and it was great to have for rainy days. The onsen is quite nice with an outdoor bath as well. There's a small kids room with toys and a full room with Japanese manga.
The staff were all very lovely and tried their best to accommodate us. My daughter got a fever one night and they had a medical kit with some meds and an ice pillow. She couldn't make it to breakfast the next day so they prepared some rice balls and jam bread to take back to the room (couldn't take anything else).
The kids loved having the dinosaurs around, the younger one was a bit scared at first but by the end of the stay she was sad to say bye.
