Where to stay in Astana

It's kinda quirky but hey, it's very well-situated. It doesn't really cater for non-Russian/Kazakh speakers, but they try, I'll give them that. They're friendly enough, and the decor is bizarre (they call it 'traditional'....ok) - but the rooms have air-con that kind of works (everything kind of works) and the breakfast is actually quite good, once you've got them to understand what you want. The check in was nice and quick. The room was spacious with a big double bed. The only thing I missed was a kettle, tea and coffee. The bar fridge was well stocked. Breakfast was good with a variety to choose off the menu. The location was very central. Easy to get around Astana.

Very good rooms, good silence. The staff charged extra money for an early check in of just 4 hours early for a whole day but they didn't provide us with hot water for 2 whole days because of some heater problem for the whole hotel. We weren't compensated for this.

As for hotels, three stars are very good. When I am in Astana, I only stay in it. Decent hotel and travel staff. Recommend.

Everything is perfect, except no one speaks English and they won't take socks/underwear in tge laundry.

We were family of 8 and had booked 4 rooms. Perfect place for overnight stay at Shymkent. Easy to catch Yandex. Also lady owner was kind enough to keep our luggage during the day. Only one improvement can be to have electric kettle for hot water in each room.

Staff although speaking very limited English, were extremely nice and as helpful as they could be. Room was a good size and the bed was comfortable. I actually stayed here for a total of 13 nights. Good location with lots of local amenities, there is even a bus stop right outside the hotel. If I were to return to Astana then I would definitely stay here again.
