Reviews
The staff truly stood out.. everyone was welcoming, polite, and always ready to help. Their positive attitude really made a difference and made us feel valued as guests.
However, I do feel that the food quality, especially at dinner, could be improved. Compared to previous expectations, it was not as impressive as it could have been. With some improvement in the dining experience, the hotel would easily offer an excellent overall stay.
Still, we had a nice time and appreciate the efforts of the team. Looking forward to seeing improvements in the future.
The room was lovely and always cleaned early in the morning. Fresh beach towels daily and beach matts at the room too.
Portable cool box for you to use for the day outs available at the room.
The small fridge at the room was very powerfull and so was the air conditioning.
The hotel pools are great and the location just opposite the beach fantastic!
Breakfast buffet was good and the Crazy fish restaurant real good.
The staff were super friendly and helpfull.
This hotel could easily be a 4 star rather than a 3.
Thank you all at the hotel!
We would love to come back sometime.
Location: excellent with a Tamarin beach just across the road. The hotel organises free bus shuttles to Flic-en-Flac and another beach I do not remember. You can easily reach main sights from Tamarin which saves time if you want to see as much of the island as possible.
Rooms: on smaller side but fully functional with a nice terrace or a balcony. All rooms are equipped with chilly bins that you can refill throughout the day if you are on all-inclusive (or buy beers from the shops) and take to the beach. Genius idea! Water is refilled daily as well as coffee and tea.
Food: I am a fussy eater but I could find something to eat every day. My travel companions had no complains and enjoyed the food. The choice was somewhat limited but it goes in line with hotel's sustainability agenda I guess. There was no surplus of food but plenty not to go hungry. The most delicious food was local deep fried specialities offered during sega dance event. As a part of all inclusive you can get chips all day long from a snack bar (not French fries but proper chips!).
Drinks: my fav part. The hotel offers a local Phoenix lager which is actually quite good (or it was +30 degrees heat but nonetheless it did the job!). Local rum was also very good as expected. There is a menu for all inclusive cocktails and most of them were really nice so you won't get bored. You have to wait a bit longer for your drinks but it's totally worth it since they use real mint for mojitos for instance, not some syrup as in many all inclusive hotels. They also offer sparkling wine as part of all inclusive which was very much fitting our holiday mood.
Entertainment: we loved events focusing on local culture (I think these there twice a week). There was also a printed programme for activities like petanque, aqua gym etc. We could have been more active if we were ever invited to join those because being on holidays you lose track of time and we usually missed the time for activities. Every evening there was a live band playing (only until 9pm due to noise restrictions imposed by local laws) but our group would have preferred a more cheerful choice of music but that's us. Afterwards, there were attempts to organise karaoke but not many guests were keen. The bar closes at 11pm, on weekends locals played some music on the beach which was super nice because otherwise it felt too quiet. There is a pub/nightclub Big Willy's 15 min on foot from the hotel which is definitely worth checking out on Friday/Saturday. At the hotel they show Premier League games which just made my holidays! No rugby though.
Pools: there are 2 swimming pools. They were clean and did not have that typical swimming pool smell which was nice. The rooftop infinity pool is rather small but still works for nice pictures with a cocktail in hand. The views are amazing you can see the ocean and the mountains.
We also befriended beautiful Mauritius green geckos, they are adorable! The garden is very well maintained with all kinds of birds chirping. You can add fallen frangipani blooms to your hair to enhance that holiday feel, you may meet a giant crab on the way to your room at night, you may meet a rooster on your morning stroll and don't forget fruit bat watch just before the sunset.
We also want to give a special shout-out to the lady at the reception. She was professional, adorable, and a real gem (I’m so sorry I forgot your name, but I hope you recognize yourself!). Thank you for the wonderful service.
The only significant downside was the kids' club. We found it disorganized, unfriendly, and overall very disappointing. For a hotel that caters so well to families in every other aspect, this was a real shame and definitely needs improvement.
Overall we were satisfied, the rooms were nice and clean, with a sea view. The hotel does not have its own beach, (we didn't mind that :-) the public beach is about 50 meters from the hotel. The hotel provides free transport to the more beautiful beach of Flic and Flack :-) about 15 minutes by car. The hotel has beautiful pools and a pool on the roof of the hotel with a view of the sea and the highest mountain in Mauritius and with a bar :-). All the staff were very friendly. The hotel has a beautiful garden, overall it is such an exotic complex, well maintained.
The breakfasts were good - everything you need. The hotel is well located for trips - sea trips, kayaking on the river and more, which was very important to us. We can recommend :-)
But we also have some complaints : :-(
The buffet dinners were weaker.
The service at the bar next to the restaurant was slower and sometimes quite chaotic (but the staff was very nice). What annoyed me the most was that they didn't have half of the items on offer at the bar, the first few days they had large beer glasses, the next few days they didn't, that was interesting.
Another thing to watch out for is the loud music from the beach, especially on weekends, until about 00:00 p.m. it was played really loudly, it was impossible to sleep.
Overall I can recommend the hotel, the price/performance ratio is good :-)
