We had a really lovely stay here for the last couple of days of our trip to Mexico. The hotel is peaceful and quiet, with a gorgeous view, good-sized rooms and very comfortable beds. It is a little dated in places, but overall it is very comfortable and the property itself is beautiful. The private beach and dock area are perfect, and the two pools were a real highlight.

Service at the restaurant can be a bit slow and it is fairly expensive compared with other local options, but the staff are genuinely kind and helpful. Special mention to Eduardo on the front desk, who was exceptionally friendly and went out of his way to help us. Also a big thank you to the chef, who came out to explain the menu. As a coeliac, I felt well looked after and was able to order safely.

This hotel was a beautiful, quiet oasis. The staff was wonderful, our bed was super comfortable and it felt more like a private condo than a hotel. If the big, all-inclusive hotels are too touristy for you, this could be a great choice.

We felt very safe here, the hotel is on a private road with a guard shack so limited traffic and easy to walk along daily. There's a beautiful cenote just a few minutes walk away. Keep in mind, being outside the main hotel zone food options are limited to a few hotels unless you have a car to drive into town or to the hotel zone - so we recommend renting a car or scooter. We would also highly recommend finding the Mexican cooking from scratch class in a private Tulum home - it was a great experience.

The rooms were very spacious and comfortable- it was tough at times to contact the resort via **********, so when I switched to direct communication it was better. The restaurant was good, and the spa was on their nearby sister property that was amazing. It would have been nice to get details on the neighborhood Cenote before visiting to be prepared.

The private beach and dock with hammocks were heavenly. Entire hotel was beautifully decorated in modern, neutral tones. Our room had the most incredible view of the beach.

Some of the staff was nice to us but
We didn’t get to swim as the beach was rocky and it was windy. The hotel shouldn’t be advertised as boutique luxury- they tried but it’s moldy, dirty and half of the time we didn’t get our room cleaned or had to ask to towels if we were gone the whole day- nobody would come in. They are low on staff- there were days when no chef at the restaurant and no food items available. The area outside is dirty and unpaved. If we had to go anywhere it cost us $35 one way. It is a rip off on all levels. We went to Nerea the beinorinv property to have lunches and hang out at their pools as our pool was super dirty- god knows when was the last time they cleaned it.

The setting is beautiful but everything else felt a bit run down and a bit stingy. I think expectations re showers should be managed upfront. In some rooms the water is tepid, in others it’s cold.

Absolutely perfect. Beautiful room, beautiful beach and reef teeming with fish just a short swim away. Staff were super courteous and friendly, they even contacted local boat operators Edwardo and Kiki who took us out on a private snorkel along the ruins and reef at an extremely reasonable price. I highly recommend, gracias!

They did not want toilet paper to be flushed. The mini fridge was tiny and did not work. The pools were too dirty to use. The restaurant was adequate and catered mostly to non local dishes.
On the other hand the staff were very nice and the beach view was beautiful.

Absolutely awful. I asked for a partial refund and was denied - so I'm leaving this review to warn others. I paid for THE nicest room (5 star hotel prices) and our room had mold, bugs, cracks in the wall and tattered towels. I wish they would have been kind and just given me a discount but perhaps this review will save someone else an awful stay. Go spend your hard earned dollars somewhere else.

Felt like camping in a "boutique" hotel. We were moved here last minute from the sister hotel Alea due to "seaweed" a couple of days before arrival (walked past later and saw none). Looking at the reviews it looked similar to the other hotel with pleasant reviews so we weren't too worried about the change. Upon arrival however it seemed like Mereva was in an awkward stage, the pools were dirty and unkept and the staff seemed rushed and not helpful. The rooms had a Nespresso coffee maker but when I asked several days in a row for pods they said they were "on the way" but never arrived. Ordering a basic coffee they charged us for what tasted like weak instant. There was no TV as pictured which was fine, just strangely left broken looking. A lot of broken items seen throughout the hotel with items dangling precariously. The shower had almost no water pressure and it rarely got warm. Each time we tried to order any food from the restaurant they said they were out. One morning we wanted to get breakfast but they said there was no cook but "someone could make some eggs". Our initial reason for booking a hotel there was to spend time on the beach enjoying the days but after repeat denial of food items and being charged $480 pesos for one margarita.... We then tried to spend more time at the other sister hotel down the road but they had similar issues with no food from the menu and feeling like they didn't want us there.
In order to get to town it was around a $500- $700 peso taxi ride but we needed to eat. Most nights we ended up bringing our own food and water back to the hotel after town excursions as it felt like glamping at a remote campsite rather than hotel experience. Even asking for potable water from them felt like we were asking a lot from them. The only nice person working there we met was José who worked both hotels. I don't know if something catastrophic happened they didn't tell us about but overall it really made our first time to Tulum unpleasant. For our 40th birthday trip it was a real disappointment and I wouldn't recommend the area.

Think about what you would like to know if you were looking for a review about a place to relax. Please describe in detail what you liked and what you didn't. What would you advise to other guests and to the hotel owner. The more fully you tell about the hotel, the easier it will be for other people to make a choice and they will be very grateful to you!

The manager is rude, the waiters are disrespectful

Food good, but they try to scam tourists... We enjoyed our meal, the atmosphere, and the view, but when the waiter brought the bill I immediately wrote this place off. Perhaps the waiter thought we were stupid gringos instead of local residents.

You'll see on the bill that service was added, which is a violation of Mexico's laws and verifiable through Profeco. When I asked the manager about it, he got indignant and did fine don't pay it and go ahead and call Profeco. Maybe I will, but in the meantime I think about all the unsuspecting tourists just paying the bill and not thinking twice.

Good Food, nice view. Not the most beautiful place in this area but if you are close, definately worth stopping by
