I really enjoyed my stay at Dar Ness Riad! The location is absolutely fantastic—right in the heart of Essaouiraaa, close to everything you want to explore. The rooftop terrace, while offering some nice views, does feel a bit neglected and could definitely benefit from some freshening up and cleaning up. Also, lively music from nearby can get quite loud in the evenings, if you wanna call it a day. Overall, for the price, this riad offers incredible value and a warm, welcoming experience in Essaouira. I would definitely recommend it!

Very nice place with very nice people! I enjoyed relaxing at the Riad a lot. Thank you Mustafa and the whole staff. Recommendation!

Booked in February, but they cancelled our booking a few days before we arrived in August, they refused to cancel it with the operator, forced us to request free cancellation to get our money back, so we got charged by the operator for their fees.

First, the positives, and they are very positive. The rooms on the top floor are large, light and clean, with comfy beds and hot showers. The breakfast is simple but fresh and delicious, with freshly baked, still hot, pastries and bread (at least if you get there at 9.00.) The staff are friendly. And all that for about £30 a night for two people: amazing value!

Now the negatives, and they only matter if you let them. The staff don’t like to carry the breakfast trays all the way up the steep stairs to the rooftop terrace (but the courtyard downstairs is a pretty place to eat). The terrace is unloved: everything needs a clean, or a fresh coat of paint, and the views are not perfect (but looking down into empty riads is interesting). And the Taros bar next door has a loud live band every night (but they’re really good!) followed by club music (but we easily slept through it.)

All in all, a joy.

I will make this review as concise as possible. Things that need improving...

- Cleaning. On arrival there was a distinct smell of cat and urine in the stairway. There is dust on every lamp, and there were two pairs of old underwear in the seating area up stairs. There is a lot of bird droppings on the seating area on the terrace, the seats and cushions look like they have been dragged out of the ocean and also have bird droppings on them. In the room, there is bird droppings on the curtain, there was an old toothpick in a dusty vase and there was mould in the bathroom.

- Maintenance. The curtains in the room do not fit the door so there is limited privacy in the room. The shower is attached half way down the wall making it's use needlessly difficult. The light in our room flickered constantly. The lighting itself was extremely poor and it was difficult to see in the room. The front door to the road was rarely locked meaning anyone could enter the property and the front desk was rarely staffed decreasing the security.

Staff - the staff seemed nice enough but uninterested in their jobs with the building in the shape it did. There is a lot of work to do in this Riad but most times I saw the men just watching football on their phones or playing on a Playstation. However, when communicating with the hosts and cleaners they were all very polite.

I hope this review can give some direction as to how the owners and staff can make the most of their property as it's location is fantastic.

Location was extremely good first impressions from kerb view were worrying but once inside it became clear this was a good choice, rooms were clean , large and airy and comfortable very authentic in its decoration , staff couldn’t do enough for you , breakfast was simply and traditional but very good and tasty . Sun terrace on the roof was nice offering views over the surrounding area breakfast could be served either op there or down in the court yard . Would highly recommend this as a very good valve for money hotel

Dar Ness was our last night stay in Morocco and a great way to end the trip. Our room was upgraded to a larger one for no charge and no reason other than it was available and they were just generous enough to offer it. The hosts were accommodating, helpful, and all around lovely. The room and surrounding space was spotless and beautiful. The rooftop patio was stunning and breakfast was delicious. I'm recommending Dar Ness to everyone I know and will most definitely be staying there again when I return.

Stay away! Rude staff and overpriced food. My grilled fish was not fresh, bland and rubbery. It took a good one hour to come and was a whopping 230 dhs! I took two bites and left it. No views are worth tasteless, overpriced food. They seated us at a table with a stained table cloth and crumbs all over. Going to this place ruined our otherwise perfect day in essouria.

The food was very good although a little pricey. The side bread was very good. We ate a calamari tajine which was with a very tasty.

Excellent view over the old bastion. Food is oke but a bit expensive. Some personnel were very friendly. Good place to eat/drink and enjoy the sunset. On the roof top or inside.
