At the time of writing, this place is ranked on TripAdvisor as number 17 of hotels in Essaouira. We chose it partly because of this and partly because of a favourable mention in the Rough Guide. We could not have been more disappointed. We were shown to a room around the side of the building, the kind of room you'd expect in a cheap motel. Not nice at all. We had prepaid the room, but we chose not to stay. It is quite ridiculous that this place has a rank of 17, and there is something quite odd about it. We looked at three rooms in other hotels while searching for an alternative, Two of these hotels had a lower ranking, but all three rooms were far superior.

Very cute hotel, nice rooftop, breakfast, room was clean but has a little unpleasant smell

There was no welcome on arrival. We were let in the gate, we carried our bags into the courtyard and the staff member disappeared. We eventually found the reception area and were issued with our check in slips for completion. Still no communication from staff. We stayed for 3 nights. Room smelt musty as if it had been closed up. Breakfast was cold and stale and the eggs barely cooked. The terrace is lovely but no overly comfortable. Still no communication when we checked out. I understand there is a language barrier but a smile translates into every language. Not a great experience in comparison to the other three places that we stayed during our trip to Morocco.

I was there 8 days with a friend, lovely terrace for breakfast, quite surrounding for sleep, the beach is about 5 minutes away. You have a stable and good free WIFI. Parking place are available and save. You can eat traditional food or visit a cookery course but you have to order one day before. Massage is also available. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

A picture perfect turquoise and white oasis in the city, within a walled garden/terrace. Beautiful gardens and bright paintwork makes Vent Des Dunes the prettiest destination in the neighbourhood. We brought our two almost teenage children for their first experience of Africa and it was perfect. A peaceful sanctuary from the hustle and bustle with a small but perfectly formed plunge pool for cooling off yet minutes from the beach. The staff were always available to help and were so kind in making the children feel welcome and always well fed! Our top floor apartment with its own private rooftop was spacious, spotless and airy, and surprisingly secluded despite opening right out onto the restaurant area. A very happy and peaceful stay - the children will remember it forever. Many thanks to all the friendly and generous staff.

Lovely property with amazingly friendly staff and the most beautiful roof terrace. We stayed in the Dragonaire apartment which was perfect for our family of seven. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful with all of the staff being really attentive. Great place, even better staff, would highly recommend

Really clean, spacious and comfortable apartment which was nicely decorated and opened out onto the lovely large roof terrace. The bathroom was modern and the shower huge and powerful. The living room/dining area with kitchen were larger than how it looked in photos. The staff were so kind and friendly. The kids particularly loved the reading corner, the games and the breakfasts containing lots of sweet items. The beach was a few minutes walk and the kids also enjoyed swimming in the pool on the ground floor. The restaurants recommended by the staff were excellent and the meals we had at the hotel restaurant were delicious. Thanks again for a great stay.

My family and I spent a week at Vent Des Dunes, We stayed in the family room with the terrace. It was a spacious room and was spotless. The shower room and toilet were separate and both had sinks. It was on the ground floor in a quiet corner of the hotel, perfect for families. The terrace was great for evening card games. The pool was small but spotless and we used it every afternoon. Breakfast on the roof terrace was delightful and the friendly staff did their best to accommodate my family's range of dietary requirements. We booked airport transfers via the hotel. And camel rides. Both were excellent and I would recommend arranging these via the hotel. My daughter and I also used the spa, it was wonderful, extremely relaxing. I would highly recommend staying at Vent Des Dunes.

Vent Des Dunes is a wonderful place to stay. Baptiste and all the staff are wonderfully welcoming and friendly. We arrived at 11pm and we were still served some delicious dinner and mint tea on our veranda! The hotel is calm and tranquil, and great for a family. the roof terrace is lovely and there's a little library too. it's worth noting it's a 15-20 minute walk to the medina, but we enjoyed walking along the beautiful beach each day and there are lots of restaurants and cafes on the way too. when you return all is peace. highly recommended.
