Verride Palácio Santa Catarina in Lisbon

We had the pleasure of staying at the Palacio and cannot recommend it more highly. The location, overlooking the Miradouro de Santa Caterina and the rooftops of Baixa is outstanding. It's at the end of a quiet street (only taxis and other authorized vehicles can pass through). The property retains it's historical character with accuracy and the owner's artwork adds personal charm. Our room was spacious, with an oversized bathroom with soaking tub, luxurious Aesop products and soft satin robes. There's a spectacular (albeit small) pool overlooking the city, a rooftop bar with a panoramic view and several dining choices, which sadly we did not enjoy. But the true jewels of this property are its employees and the warmth which they welcome you. From Joana, the hostess, to Mariana, the front desk receptionist, all made us feel at home. We even received a thank you note from our housekeeper for the tip we left - a first for us!! Prior to our trip, I had agonized over our hotel selection but I'm so happy with our final choice!

Built after the devastating earthquake in Portugal in 1755, this hotel has undergone renovations. While the buildings are old, the refurbishment and upgrades have made it clear that the hotel has striven to become a retro-styled hotel with modern amenities. The hotel's service is excellent; they even provide small packs of tissues for guests to carry. The bedding and pajamas are made of very high-quality fabric, and the toiletries are Aesop. Breakfast is served every day with a sea view.

Really great experience staying here. Staff were so attentive and assisted me whenever I needed it. The rooftop area has a gorgeous view, and the yellow room is a tranquil place to also work/read.

Beautiful hotel. Stunning view from the room over Lisbon. What stands out is the multitude of small touches and extra. A memorable stay.

Beautiful boutique hotel in a great location. The room had stunning views over Lisbon. The hotel itself has been beautifully renovated, restoring its style. What’s stands out though is all the little extra personal touches and extras that we didn’t expect. A very memorable stay.

I stayed overnight on a Hilton Free Nights Award and there is little doubt in my mind that this was the best hotel stay I have ever had. I didn't want to leave the hotel for a minute. When we arrived, we received a tour of the premises, including the rooftop bar, the outdoor pool and the beautiful common areas. When we got to our room, we were knocked out by the view, the bed, and the complimentary baked goods, champagne and beverages. We were also told that we were entitled to a complimentary 15 minute massage, which my wife and I had scheduled for later that afternoon. I immediately said to my wife "this might be the best place I've ever stayed out" and she corrected me, saying "it definitely is." The massage was unbelievably good. My wife paid to extend it and received a very, very good massage for way less than it should have cost. While she was gone, the hotel sent a small birthday cake to our room (quick note: make sure to complete the ore-arrival questionnaire the hotel sends a day or two before arrival to inform it of any special occasions worth celebrating). I also toured the rooftop bar and saw a great view of the city from the 2nd highest vantage point in the city. We spent an hour at the rooftop pool, which was small but luxurious. The hotel's main restaurant was closed the night we visited, but the hotel's secondary restaurant was open and delicious. We slept very, very well on a large bed that may have been king-sized plus. The next morning we were treated to a five-course breakfast which included fresh-squeezed juice, cappuccino, charcuterie, breakfast breads, yogurt with fruit, an egg dish and a dessert pancake. Again, everything was excellent! I have read some of the more tepid reviews and cannot stress enough that our experience was amazing. Maybe your mileage may vary, and maybe some of your experience depends on your room (ours was 6.2 and is highly recommended), but I cannot imagine a better hotel stay!

Incredible boutique feel but luxury everywhere. Location is perfect. Breakfast (4 course) is the best I’ve ever had at a hotel. Staff all friendly and helpful. Well worth the price, will go again!

Extraordinary experience at the Verride Palacio Santa Catarina! We stay in many hotels per year, including some five star rated ones, and this stay was the best of our lives. The elegant room was impeccably clean, quiet and comfortable with a stunning view from the balcony. Our massage therapist, Annabella, gave us each the best message we have ever had. We had dinner at the hotel’s Lisbon Club 55, which was the best Portuguese food we have had. Miguel greeted us and gave a helpful and informative tour of the Palacio, which is uniquely and beautifully decorated with both modern and classic art. The five course breakfast on the deck was exquisite. Wish we could have stayed longer, but we definitely plan to return to Lisbon just to stay here again! Thanks to all the excellent staff who made our stay so memorable!

The hotel was very nice and staff were very friendly! Couple of things need improving/changing. First, the uber or boltz driver cannot drop passengers off by the hotel. It’s a restricted area! It would have been nice to know in advance so we did not have to walk with our bags. Second, the rooftop was closed to an event which was very disappointing and on top of that there was so much noise as the event ended as if we were in a night club! Last, the bathroom is designed poorly. Eventhough it was new, clean, and nice the water went everywhere as you shower!
Overall nice service and very luxary hotel. I would rate the convenience 4 star and not 5
