Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca in Portals Nous

Overall our stay was great and we would likely come back again when we come to Majorca.
Literally the only thing that could be better is that the rooms are not very new. But everything is neat and clean, the hotel stuff is superb, they are happy to help with little and big things from printing some papers to arranging car rental, and the best part is the location. I couldn't get enough of the views around hotel. So many places to chill, do yoga and meditate. Thank you!

We spent 3 days here as a little break before heading home after a week exploring Spain. It was perfect. The hotel is on a couple of small beaches 30 minutes outside of Palma, the area is breathtaking. We got seaview rooms but there are also a few freestanding villas on the rocks overlooking the water which unfortunately were not an option when I was booking. Rooms are large. Beds are decent but the location and the attentiveness of staff makes up for any shortcomings in that department. It was the perfect relaxing end to an amazing trip. Can't wait to come back!

The hotel and its's facilities are well maintained. I love that one can find peace with the feeling of being connected to nature knowing that there's a lot of tourists and huge hotels in Mallorca. That's what I like about this the building is not high rise.
I love the 2 private beaches as well. They are beautiful.
However, it would be nice if they also offer activities to the guests such as Yoga classes, meditation or SUP board for rent.
With reg. to the breakfast, it's pretty usual for our 5x breakfast we already have enough of it.

All in all we still could recommend this hotel.

High end hotel. Lovely location.

We were really anxious about our upcoming trip when reading through some of the very bad ratings here. And in some areas I can understand the disappointment about the hotel (facilities), but other comments are simple not true (or people expecting 5+ star experience for a 4 star hotel).

Traveling as a family, here‘s our personal feedback.

What was great:

- super friendly and welcoming staff (reception, restaurant, cleaning service, etc.)
- AWESOME view (especially during breakfast/dinner) from restaurant to the bay
- two pool areas (we always found a space) plus two somewhat private beaches (stone and sand)
- garden area
- food in restaurant (we had meals for 10 days, incl. breakfast, lunch and dinner) and it way always great food, especially during dinner were it was upper-quality dining (don‘t expect Michelin level for a 25€ main course!)
- fair prices (drinks, food) for the quality delivered
- house-keeping (friendly and good service)
- the garden area is beautiful

What needs to be worked on:

- the room pictures are either fake or from the time when the hotel was opened - this is definitely cheating by the hotel owners (the staff knows about it) and we had many people leave their room shocked and complaining at the reception right away (we did not and just accepted it - we had a Villa but to be honest we were also shocked)
- it‘s hard to pick a room from the hotel page/description because it seems there are so many different rooms/categories (the Ducal suites area looked nice (no sea view though) with lots of flowers and located in the back (but closer to the street, so perhaps a bit louder?)
- certain facilities (e.g. sun beds and shades on terrace/open spaces, some ways through the garden) are old/not clean (bird poo)
- no gym (?)

A calm, quiet, and cozy place. Beautiful grounds, two small beaches in coves. The city center is a 15-minute drive away. A good option for a family vacation; we loved everything about it.

Very very good location. Respect for the great work of gardener: the territory of hotel is well maintained. The small beach is beautiful. The water is very blue and clean but there are seaweed and other organic rubbish from sea. It will be nice to clean a bit this area. The rooms require a renovation. But they are clean and everything is functional. We had excellent sea view and we enjoyed the sound of sea every morning (room number 503). The biggest disappointment was a dinner at the hotel restaurant. It wasn’t tasty at all. Service is awful. And it is overpriced. In general, we liked our stay here. It is very beautiful area.

Loved this hotel with a great view between Palma and Andratx

We've got a huge room (in fact 2 rooms). I liked this hotel a lot. It has a very beautiful beach with rocks (it's possible to do snorkeling and cliff jumping).
